61 and Sockets

This hunter dinged 61 tonight and was really impressed with how much fun it was. Grinding was never my favorite thing to do, and Blizz has done a great job of making this enjoyable.

I cleared 75 gold, sent seven or eight BOE greenies to guildies instead of putting them on the AH, kept one greenie belt to get rid of my Beastmaster Belt, a blue chestpiece that was better than my Field Marshal Chestplate… and my first socketed item, as shown in the picture. These leggings are not better than my epic PvP gear, however, I need to see what gems I can slam in those sockets.

Got the pants from Watchkeeper Gargolmar in Hellfire Ramparts. Just a wonderful instance; about half as long as Strat Dead time-wise, nice drops, and can be done without any other Outland experience. Crowd-control classes are BRK-recommended.

Also, Fel Reavers will seriously aggro you if you just stand there taking screenshots. I mean, damn.

I’m also seeing some great gear. Haven’t made 61 yet (just started playing last night), but quest rewards are proving to be good upgrades.

I play Druid and I’m noticing that the quest rewards many times offer two nice gear pieces - one for caster and one for feral. Gear upgrades are always a nice situation to be in, but it is forcing some hard decisions.

My alt is a Hunter and I enjoy your blog a lot.

Amanna, thank you very much for the kind words. I rolled a druid once and was “The Worst Druid in the History of Warcraft”. If you’re good at a druid, you have my respect.

Did you know druid’s can’t Hunter’s Mark? I got my druid to 14 and was still trying to mark my targets.

I have a friend with a Hunter main / Druid alt. He mentioned to me that Druids get “Track Beast” and I told him that’s not true, they get “Track Humanoid”.

He swears up and down they do get track beast, so I log on my Druid to see what he is talking about and I noticed the “Track Humanoid” icon is the exact same as the Hunter’s “Track Beast” icon.

…very confusing if you play both classes!

As far as the gear, I saw those leggings drop also and was curious as to what the stat possibilities are with the sockets.

I’m upset with the lack of cloth drops thou, I didn’t see any on my first HC run =(

hey dahm:D u are damn lucky, u know? i’ve been looking for these leggins for ages, done hellfire rampart about 4 timers and that big cow never dropped it…i wont give up! but i looted a necklace called “garrote something collar” lot better than the famous eye of hakkar from the 2nd boss, the big demon…
