I Just Wanna Scream
I followed this hunter around for a solid five minutes to see if she repeated her meleeing, or this was a one-time incident. Nope, over and over again, she whipped out the two-handed sword. She’s a Marksman hunter, for crying out loud! If you’re gonna primarily melee, at least be a Survivalist…
What am i saying… I’m going to throw up.

Bot? Hope not =(…
stupid hunters like her should be wtfpwnd by every monster they melee…
Wow, level 68 with true shot aura and meleeing.
Was at IF AH the other day and saw over general chat a level 23 hunter asking at what level hunters got to use shields. I whispered back level 10 its called a pet.
Could she have just tamed that cat? I tamed something for fun the other day and spent a lot of time trapping and meleeing(sp?) until he got happy enough to agree to growl an our behalf. I was thinking that anyone who was watching had to think I was an idjit…
Nope, the cat was 68, too. Ran into her a couple of hours later… still slamming that sword around.
Maybe she was levelling her weapons skill?
OK, I will admit that is a remote possibility. However, she was in a party with a level 66 Paladin.
“Hey Susie, wanna party together?”
“Sure, Bill! Mind if I melee for the next hour while I build my 2h sword proficiency?”
“Not at all! We’ll go as slowly as you want.”
It just doesn’t add up.
I don’t get that, either.
My bf started playing a hunter (since I had so highly recommended the class to him when he first picked up the game a few months ago), and whenever I go find him to see what he’s up to…. sure enough, he’s usually melee’ing. (At least he’s not MM spec’ed…)
I’m not sure what the thought-process is there, though. (If there even is one…)
Maybe they don’t send their pet to the mob, but rather pull the mob to them, and are too lazy to back up once their pet snags aggro?
I dunno. I have to admit, it’s a total mystery to me. Even when I pull mobs to me, I still back way the hell up once Pasha snags them. =/
Basically…… I’m confused. =/
The only reason I even bother to equip melee weapons at all is to get the +AGI bonuses… and to have something other than my fist to smack things with if they get in my dead zone and I can’t shake the aggro for some strange reason. (Which is pretty much never. FD FTW!)
It makes my brain hurt just thinking about it! :*(
Sometimes when I’m alone I like to beat small kittens with my Azuresong Mageblade.
…but I would never be caught dead doing melee on my hunter just for the sake of it.
I’m a 68 hunter as of now and found your blog on google. I melee when the mob gets close and I’m lazy. My raptor strike crits for 1k and I have the Savage Strikes so it’s even better. Also hunters need to melee in PVP to kite with wing clip so it’s not like we never melee. Plus criting for 1k in melee with a raptor strike on a mage that thinks it’s safe getting up close is spectacular.
Thank you for finding my silly blog and thinking enough of it to participate. However, I must take you to task for what I see are blatent violations of the Hunter Code.
Hunters do not brag about their melee crits, strength, or how lazy they are.
Popping Wing Clip in PvP is not the same as melee combat as Wing Clip is used to get out of melee combat.
Criting 1000 on a Mage is great except when he has 1001 health. Then, you have to wait another 3.5 seconds to swing again while he Mr. Squishie has 147 instant casts to break you into little frozen pieces.
If you’re out of mana, your pet is dead, you cannot Feign Death, and the mob is just about to die, go ahead and melee. Otherwise, Just Say No to Melee.
I’m still learning about the ins and outs of being a hunter (MM). When I was lower, I used raptor strike whenever I got in melee range. These days, I use disengage followed by a wing clip if I’m worried I’ll take agro again. Then, of course, run about 30 yards away or so.
My hunter, currently L61 in
Zangarmarsh, keeps her melee weapon skill up to snuff by — of all strange things — fighting melee battles to earn skill points. After leveling up, training up and a bit of shopping it is off to beat on one mob after another until they spit up 5 skill points. Then it is back to avoiding melee combat wherever possible.
I…..
I want a widescreen monitor too.
