My Addon List? Ok, Sure

BRK » 05 February 2007 » In Addons »

I don’t have a HUD addon or the fancy circle buttons, but someone asked for my addons list. It’s not extensive, so I’ll pound out a quick post even though I’m still trying to get back to the Hunter Pull article.

  • Atlas - When you’re first starting out, it’s the first addon you should get
  • Atlas Loot - More fun than useful
  • CooldownTimers2 - Invaluable addon for all the cooldown trinkets and attacks
  • CritAlert - So much fun to see, not just my crits, but those of the people around me
  • CT_Profiles - Their website is, at best, 80% functional
  • DamageMeters - Hunter mainstay
  • GroupCalendar - Buggy and a lot of updates, I’m looking for a replacement after I hit 70
  • KLHThreatMeter - More critical for classes that cannot dump aggro, but still handy
  • MobInfo2 - Works beautifully with Perl even though it is not WoW 2.0 compliant
  • Perl - I love the minimalist and clean look of these frames
  • Perl_TargetCastBar - Until Perl comes out with its own castbar, this second-hand one perfectly functional
  • ScrollingCombatText - Many more options than the WoW defaults
  • ScrollingCombatText:Damage - Don’t forget this part of the package; it’s a separate download
  • Titan Panel - Get it for the coordinates if nothing else
  • Titan Guild - A bit buggy but nothing showstopping
  • TrinketMenu - This is amazing for those who want to swap trinkets frequently and don’t have room for more macros

Damh - I’ve noticed in previous screenshots you don’t use an action bar mod. I use one simply to free up screen real estate and give me some flexabiltiy when switching forms (Druid).

So this may fall under the heading of “shameless self-promotion” (and feel free to delete the comment if you think so), but I just posted an overview and setup guide for Bartender 3 on my blog.

BT3 is exremely basic, which you should read as “it works”. With a little bit of planning, you can have it up and configured in around 5-10 minutes. It’s very stable and doesn’t have any of those keybinding, stance-switching issues you constantly read about in some of those “other” more complicated bar mods.

So, if you’ve been looking for a bar mod, and Damh doesn’t delete this comment, click my name to read the overview. It’s currently my top post.

I just started using BT3 as well (same deal, running 1280×1024 so I’m looking to save screen space)

Definitely liking it so far… I tried Trinity very briefly, but it required so much setup to get back my old functionality that I dropped it.

Other than that, it’s mostly Cartographer (instead of Atlas), ArkInventory for bags, and Outfitter for gear swapping/management.

I am not in the habit of deleting comments. I’ve been tempted, (one warrior’s opinion of hunter-pulling made me cringe), but unless it’s a Whitemane Chapeau for President rant, you’re pretty safe here.

As for bar addons, well, I’ve never found the effort of installing and using one worth the effort. I don’t feel the need for more screen space, I don’t change forms, I don’t even swap gear, except for trinkets and I have that covered.

I will visit your site and read what you wrote, though. :)

Hey - if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. My alt is a Hunter and from what I can see, BT3 doesn’t offer bar switching based on aspect. Besides, what would really change that much anyway?

Like I said - I’m for simple. One less addon for you…

Most of my friends are surprised when they see I play without my GUI most of the time (Alt + Z)

This is possible because I have EVERY spell I cast on a bindkey with my Logitech G15 keyboard.

I don’t play like this during PvP or raids though.

I don’t know what this has to do with the post, I just felt like typing, please don’t delete me ^^

Well, what can I say, was looking forward to try your addons, so I installed them but they are all incompatible. I’ve just started looking into add ons, so I might be doing something wrong but on the other hand ZHunter works for me so not sure.

Thanks for the list and the blog in general!

MobInfo-2, Perl TargetCastBar, and TrinketMenu are “Out of date”, but if you click the “Load out of date Addons” checkbox, they will load and operate perfectly.

All the other addons are ripe and ready to go.
