A Mind-Controlled Mob is Not a Pet
Hunter, Feral Druid (with a new respec), Frost Mage, Holy Pally (who dinged 70 yesterday, WooT!), and the GM of Warrior Corps, a holy priest. We descend on Shadow Labs and take down the first boss in thirty-five minutes, no deaths. Pfft. BRK lifts his leg on that fearing, nature-damage b@stard.
On to the next room and we’re clearing the trashies. We hit the first group of five and we decide to have the priest Mind Control one of the shadow priest mobs, have the other four mobs kill it, then take down the remaining four using the tactics we’ve been using for the four-packs. We tell our holy pally to watch out for the priest; if our feral druid is unable to grab the aggro of the two mobs she’s assigned, the priest could get one-or-two shot.
We love our healadin. He’s fought through dial-up connection issues and installed satelite Internet. He’s busted his @ss to get all the healing gear he can because he knows how desperate Legendary is for healers. And he’s also a D@MN good healer; I’m very proud of him and BRK considers him a good friend.
However.
Just before the Mind-Controlled mob is about to die, our kind and wonderful Pally forgets that priests doen’t have pets and drops a Holy Light crit for 4398… on the shadow priest mob we were trying to have killed.
Whoops. Yeah, we wiped. But it was a beautiful wipe. It was special and funny and we laughed our heads off. The priest from Warrior Corps said that was one of the classiest wipes he’d ever seen and was proud to be a part of it.
I told him, “That was ‘Classic’ Legendary. We’re Style even in death.
“
This screenshot was taken after the wipe. I scrolled through the combat text to find the CriticalAlert message from the crit heal on the “priest’s pet”.
Yes, we finished the rest of the room without incident, using the MC-method, and took down the second boss on the first try. Very approprately, he dropped the nice healadin plate pants for our beloved pally, Ironbelly.
If you’re on Madoran, send him a tell saying how much you want a 4400 healing crit on your pet, too.
