WoW 2.1.0 Patch Notes… or Are They?

BRK » 21 March 2007 » In Patch, Professions, Talents »

The Patch Notes for 2.1.0 were posted briefly and removed. Someone was able to save them and kept them on their guild’s forums. BRK has found these purloined papers and provided some analysis and commentary, as well as added a few notes he knows are coming but hasn’t revealed to anybody. That’s right, you’re the first. Feel proud, feel special. Just don’t feel unappreciated, ’cause BRK digs ya.

Actual Patch Note in black.

BRK Note, comment, analysis, smart-alec remark, in green.

===========================================

The Black Temple - Originally founded as a Draenei temple, this plot has been conquered and despoiled many times, yada yada yada.

The Black Elevator - New 50-man instance in Shattrath City. Start on Aldor Rise and, without using a flying mount, get all 50 raid members to the bottom of the elevator with no deaths. Heroic Mode requires jumping onto the elevator. No guild completed The Black Elevator during beta testing, but we’ve found BRK’s scotch and are pissed to the wind. F-U.

Battleground Matching System - A player matching system has been put into effect to encourage a more competitive player vs. player environment. The system will work by assigning a “gear rating” to every player for each honorable kill earned yada yada yada.

Global Chat Ego-Matching System - n00bs, l33ts, PaWnZ, Chuck-Norrises, and yur-momz will be automatically be put into a OMGSTFU global channel. Subscribing to this channel prevents you from subscribing to any of the World Defense, Trade, and reinstated LFG channels.

Confused guards in Silvermoon City, Exodar, and other places no longer give directions to locations in Stormwind City.

Confused beggars who actually think I’m going to give them gold are set as the Focus of every Hunter with 100 yards, one of them is Mind-Controlled and Misdirects a city guard to escort them to a close graveyard.

Booty Bay is now flagged as outdoors.

All instances where I can see the sky are as flagged outdoors so druids can use Entangling Roots.

Fixed display issues with female Blood Elf models.

All female Blood Elf models will be available at the BRK Ski Chalet and Prowling Emporium.

The male gnome /cheer animation now plays properly.

The male gnome /STFU animation now plays properly.

Warlock and Hunter pets will now respawn when its owner dismounts from a flying mount.

Warlock and Hunter pets will respawn with 100% health whether or not they were dismissed with 100% health. They demanded their bug back, and we at Blizz love our hunters. /kisses

Damage from combat pets will now count towards items and abilities that proc off killing blows.

A killing blow from combat pets will now trigger a pet /petliftsleg emote.

“Monster Slaying” and “Humanoid Slaying” have been removed and replaced by the “Master Tracker” talent, which increases damage and critical strike damage caused against a tracked target by 1/2/3%.

The “Master Tracker” talent will cause 20% of all Marksman hunters to seriously consider the Survivalist tree, but only 1% will actually spend the gold to try it.

“Lightning Reflexes” has been increased to a 5/10/15/20/25% bonus.

The reworked “Lightning Reflexes” talent will cause BRK to seriously consider the Survivalist tree, (base agi = 527, w/LR = 659!) and may actually give it a try, but only because BRK is still an agility nut.

“Deflection” has been reduced to 2 ranks for a 2/5% bonus.

100% of all Hunters will ignore “Deflection”.

“Improved Feign Death” has been changed to give “Feign Death” a 50/100% to remove all harmful effects.

The reworked “Improve Feign Death” will cause 100% of all Hunters to freak out and their jaws to drop, especially PvP hunters, who are foaming at the mouth about IFD, Lightning Reflexes, and Master Tracker.

“Master Tactician” has been changed to give your critical hits with ranged attacks a 100% chance to increase your critical strike chance against the target by 2% for 8 sec. The effect stacks up to 5 times.

“Master Tactician” will cause most Marksman to consider Survivalist the new defacto-PvP spec. Get yourself some goodness, Blizz has come through.

“Clever Traps” now also increases the damage of “Snake Trap” by 15/30% against flying targets.

“Clever Traps” makes BRK’s favorite trap even more potent and wonders if it can be used against enemies on flying mounts, and just how high those little snakes can jump…

“Kill Command” no longer triggers the global cooldown.

Beastmaster hunters give great “WooT”s of joy and storm the Heineken Vaults in the BRK Massively Over-engineered Beer and Potent Ale Industrial Complex.

“Feign Death” now properly de-aggros player pets.

Beastmaster PvP hunters silently mourn the loss of one of the best tools we had against Marksman hunters, since our pets did significantly more damage than theirs. Especially when they don’t even bother bringing theirs out. Sheesh.

“Readiness” now properly finishes the cooldown on “Misdirection”.

Readiness” finally moves from, what, a C- talent to a C.

“Cyclone” can no longer be used on Hunters and their pets while Bestial Wrath and The Beast Within are active.

This is what happens when Amanna paints BRK’s claws pink and frosts their tips. That’s Adventures in Azeroth. Go register your complaints there.

A Druid Epic Flight Form quest has been added to the game.

Great. Guess what we’re all going to be doing now; more, “Please help me with my epic mount” quests for our druid guildies. As if Pallys and Warlocks weren’t enough.

Players will be relieved to learn that many helm graphics no longer remove hair.

While other players will be disgusted that many helm graphics don’t add copious amounts of hair, both cranium and facial-based, to both male and female toons.

Crafted “Steam Tank” and “Flying Machine” mounts usable only by engineers.

BRK just knew that dumping engineering would result in mechanical flying mounts, but Steam Tanks? OMG!

Plans for specialized ammo and powerful bind-on-pickup guns that only [engineers] can use.

Seriously, go [bleep] yourself, Blizz. BRK drops engineering because it both sucked and blew, and now I’m gonna miss out on superguns. /wowquit

The Looking For Group system has been overhauled. The “Looking For Group” and “Looking For More” tabs in the Looking For Group tool have now been consolidated into one interface. Making a selection in a category (Dungeon, Raid, Group Quest, and Zone) will add the player to a player listing with other eligible players seeking a group. The listing indicates whether each player is solo, in a group, or the leader of a group. The auto-join functionality of the LFG tool has been removed. In addition, the Looking For Group channel has been re-implemented. The channel is viewable by everyone, but players must be in the Looking For Group system to chat in the channel.

Blizz recognizes that we hosed everybody with the LFG revamp and are offering a better tool to keep you from finding us in our homes and slicing us to pieces with cut WoW CDs.

The Auction House now has a gem sub-category.

The AH blows less.

Tier 6 armor sets are now in the game.

But if you’re not in DeathandTaxes, you’ll never see it. We at Blizz just like to torture you.

Sunken Temple - Fixed a bug where Jammal’an the Prophet would sometimes ignore a mind controlled player if the party wiped.

ST? Seriously?

Gems will now be properly mailed each month as reputation rewards for “The Consortium”.

And what about my two months of back-gems? What’s the status on that, Mr. BRK-Revered-With-Consortium would like to know.

Draenei characters will now leave footprints.

Alright, who noticed that? That’s so cool.

Gnomes and other vertically challenged characters are now able to properly fish in certain nodes.

Hello? Yes, my name is Damh and I’m a VCC. But I don’t fish, so take your “VCC” and shove it up your about-to-be horizontally challenged…

My, aren’t we are an angry little dwarf today?

  2. Damh on March 21st, 2007 7:30 pm

    LITTLE?! :)

  3. Yin on March 21st, 2007 7:34 pm

    Hilarious as usual!

Well, I guess it’s good to see them trying to make the Survivalist tree more enticing again. They keep that up, I may actually start putting points back in it. Maybe.

Kinda reminds me of the good ol’ days, when the Survivalist tree was worth a damn. But just kinda.

As for Tier 6… yeah. Grats to D&T 9_9

I’ve seen these elsewhere marked as “faked” release notes. So don’t spend too much time planning a respec just yet.

Oh, and I’m now apparently an alt-aholic… BRK is part of why I’ve recently added a hunter alt. Just about to ding level 10, so I need to take another look at what BRK has to say about talent trees.

    >>Draenei characters will now leave footprints.

    Shouldn’t that be hoof-prints?

It’s probably funnier this way though…

  7. Damh on March 21st, 2007 10:07 pm

+5 BRK Cool Points to tomas. Hoof prints FTW.

  8. Mike on March 21st, 2007 11:42 pm

Yeah, the person who posted the “leaked” notes admitted they were a compilation of items from the bug forums with suggestions/ideas that the poster hoped would be implemented.

  9. Damh on March 21st, 2007 11:48 pm

BRK was pretty sure they were fake, but it gives us all the more reason to get really angry when 2.1.0 comes out and Survivalist is still the worst of the three trees by FAR.

If my pet still isn’t summoned when I land, and if FD is still broken, Amanna is gonna be really impressed with the anger and vitriol that emanates from these pages.

    /off

Sorry to bother u again Damh, but I have a lil’ problem here.. yesterday I was in Black Morass, and we wiped in the 2nd boss, and the party was disbanded almost immadiately after one of the ppl displayed a DamageMeter results.. Unfortunatally I forgot to upload the picture yesterday, but Will certanly do this today..

My problem was that their reason to not continue the instance was that I dont have enough DPS, and they even told me to gear up better.. ~_~

I was with my fresly formed instance-über-DPS talents build, and 1400AP and all what we discussed earlyer.. By the Damagemeter I was the 3rd, after a PALADIN, and a tank.. By the time of the whipe the warrior had 400k dmg, and I had around 150k.. But I shoot everything what was not in cooldown, BW, tinkets, everything.. I used Viper for mana efficiency, and didn’t used Aimed all the time, just for about 3-4 times to a drift lord.. Anyway I used arcane and auto and steady shots, I sent my pet, and every time my boy has ~20% hp I called back to me to regenerate..

What did I worng? Or just the pug was lame? we hitted the 2nd boss to 30% before thi wipe.. I still had my chrono beacon too.. Maybe I just need to go with a different group.. The setup was the following for this time: warri to tank priest to heal, shammy to the adds, me to dps, and pally to afftank/offheal..

Maybe my rotation of shoots was the wrong? What’s the difference between the boss’, and the adds’ cycle of shoots?

Thank you for the answeres in advance, and excuse me for my inconvenience.. ^_^

    /me sit down and waits..

  11. Huma on March 22nd, 2007 10:18 am

WTB edit button.. I was wrong, It was not a pally, it was a Warlock.. so in my previous sigh paladin=warlock.. ^_^ sorry.

  12. Damh on March 22nd, 2007 10:54 am

Huma, post a link to your Armory profile and we’ll take a gander. :)

  13. Huma on March 22nd, 2007 1:11 pm

    It should be something like

    http://armory.wow-europe.com/?#character-sheet.xml?r=Twisting+Nether&n=Humata

If u see “Stalker’s Helmet of Second Sight” on my char, then it’s accurate, I got it yesterday. If not, well.. I’ll create a screenshot today evening, and upload. ^_^

  14. Damh on March 22nd, 2007 2:30 pm

I want to see your gear and your spec. If you want to email screenshots or just keep your armory profile updated, that’ll work too.

  15. Huma on March 22nd, 2007 2:45 pm

So, the armory was not accurate?

Very well then, I’ll create screenshots, and uplad them. U’ll see the links in a comment within approximately.. 4 hours from now :-D

  16. Damh on March 22nd, 2007 5:01 pm

Lol - I don’t know if your Armory was accurate, I need you to tell me that. I haven’t seen it yet; work doesn’t allow access. :(

  17. Huma on March 22nd, 2007 8:08 pm

As for me too.. I needed to wait till my work ends.. Ofc, since I’m in hungary this occures 7hours before u can go home ^_^

So here’s the all-in-one “i-show-u-my-socks-too” screenshot.. and the damagemeter in the bottom..

    http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l7/HumaMage/WoW/WoWScrnShot_032207_203857.jpg

Is it good? bad? lol? ;-) I’ts work in progerss, but so far I’m proud of myself to get this, since I’m in a fun guild, and went to instances with pugs only..

No one cares about the comments of a nobody hunter….

“Seriously, go [bleep] yourself, Blizz. BRK drops engineering because it both sucked and blew, and now I’m gonna miss out on superguns. /wowquit”

….hahaha. Don’t the designers know they should design the game around the crafts this fool currently has.

  19. Anonymous on April 14th, 2007 7:40 am

REFERING TO THE TALENT TREE I SEE.

Catlike Reflexes over Ferocious Inspiration? Sure it’s only a 3% damage increase. But do you really need the 9% pet dodge as a BM hunter? And not to mention that your pet also gets the 3% damage buff, which means more pet dps. Meh, whatever tickles your pickle.

    Anyway…

GG on dropping engineeing, for the 3rd time too. *sigh…
