PTR and the 7/21/34 Survivalist
There are several threads on the WoW Forums on the viability of the 0/31/30 build for raiding. You get all the fixed-crit percentages, Trueshot Aura, the good traps, and the agility bonus. All really super for 10-man instances where a hunter’s ability to control a specific mob may be critical, but one mob would be the limit; you will have enough rogues and mages etc. to deal with the rest. BRK has seen some nice numbers from this build, but if you’re running Karazhan, you’re probably not reading BRK for strategy and talent tips.
So, what do we want to discuss? Well, BRK is deeply involved with 5-man instances. He received his first Heroic key - Tempest Keep - and can also get into Arcatraz. It’s time to get Shadow Labs behind us and start getting the gear for Shattered Halls, Arcatraz, and beyond. Success here is going to depend upon efficient crowd-control and focused-fire dps. So what is a hunter to do when he wants to maximize his usefulness in a 5-man party where five, six, and even seven-mob pulls can be required?
BRK has a suggestion: the 7/21/34 build. In the PTR, the changes to the Survivalist tree aren’t overwhelming, but they are very complete and well-thought out. The new +4% to RAP with -4% damage-taken, +3% crit, +15% agility, 100% chance of Expose Weakness proc’ing, super traps, and Wyvern Sting will have enormous potential for maximizing crowd control and boosting dps to make up for the loss of Serpents Swiftness.
/sniff
Oh, Serpent’s Swiftness, how much we miss you. To say nothing of Bestial Wrath; no more Big Red Kitty.
No more Big Red Kitty?! What would we call the blog then, The Big Frozen-n-Sleeping Trash-Mob Blog?
…
Hey! Welcome to The BFSTM Blog! Today we’re gonna talk about Freezing Traps! Again. Just like we do every day.
My Elune, that would be boring.

Very interesting build. I’ve been thinking about something similar, though a slight variation on the lower levels of the SV tree. Quick note - you only have 20 pts in MM, not 21.
I was trying to figure out why you put 21 pts in MM and avoided Scatter Shot.
Speaking of which, what would you think of a build that gave up 1 of the focus fire points to snag scatter shot? Your build is clearly constructed for a 5-man (like you said), but if someone likes to tinker in PvP, I think that could be a good sacrfice.
I have seen somewhere that Master Tactitian and Mortal Shots pretty much come out with the same numbers, so if that is true, why not skip Mortal Shots (sorry Bor, there goes Scatter :)) and go even deeper into SV by picking up MT. And shoot, while your at it, why not rip a point out of somewhere else like Focus Fire to get Readiness? Readiness is great for not only added utility (2 misdirections/extra trap), but also some extra damage as well (2 Rapid Fire’s).

fyi - If I cant locate where I saw em before, I’ll try to run the numbers on the difference between MS and MT to back this up.
Thas thar is what you get for naming your blog after a spell effect. Good luck with that new web site thingy.
When BRK was in full-blown PvP-mode as a 0/21/30 Survivalist, Scattershot was a staple. When he went Beastmaster and lost it, he was like a baby who had lost a dollie. However, he learned to overcome it and succeed.
As for instances, BRK rarely found a use for SS an won’t miss it in any build for such a purpose. However, we also know many hunters who easily sacrifice The Beast Within for Scattershot; BRK calls them foolish SS addicts, but still considers them friends.
BRK’s Concern With Readiness: The 5-Minute Cooldown. Every five minutes we’d get the super-duper reset, but for the rest of the time I’m losing out on the Improved Aspect of the Hawk and +2% to all Damage.
What’s the big problem with IAotH? The time it procs. Doesn’t it always seem to proc at the end of fights, never the beginning? Hmm? Yeah? Hmm? BRK doesn’t like that about IAotH and just cannot bring himself to Master Tactician to the arsenal; another talent that procs in a similar mannor as IAotH.
Now, BRK will probably try a 0/20/41 build also and see how Readiness and Master Tactician really do. But for now, 7/20/34 is as great a deviation from 41/20/0 as we can imagine.
I try to say it short: :-(((((
H.
will hunters get a free respec
We believe all class will get a free respec, but haven’t seen words to indicate either.
Jw, have you encountered any beast lord armor? If so, do you reccomend trying to get the full set or keep what you have as of now..seeing as your stats are very impressive.
