Woot, congrats BRK. Good luck in there.
Headed in myself this weekend, hope it goes better than the first four times some weeks ago.. XP *been avoiding Kara*
Kara hasn’t been kind to me, either. Hopefully you’ll have more luck. Over 8 boss kills (16+ pieces of epic gear) and not a single hunter drop. Hell, I can’t even win on a shard /roll.
Have fun in there! You’ll get to use MD a lot, and unless you’re outnumbered by priests with an affinity for shackles, you might actually get to trap a lot, too.
And make sure to FD when Moroes disappears.
Oh, and… and…
No, don’t FD when Moroes disappears, Damh is a dwarf! Dwarves can stone-skin out of the garrote, and I’d rather have a dwarven hunter garroted than a priest!
Maybe if stoneskin is on cooldown…
Moroes is my favorite fight so far in Kara. Hunters can really shine in there. The last time I was there, my bear Barley tanked the first add that we burned down, while I trapped another. The 2 priests kept two more shackled while we burned Moroes down, and I saved them a couple times with well-placed traps when shackle broke early. FUN!
Just tell me those aren’t Corki’s prison keys I see!
And grats on the phat loot.
Grats Damh! I’m looking forward to our guild’s second run at Kara this weekend – I’m hoping we see Moroes go down!
The post on chain trapping was great too btw – since reading your blog I’ve picked up a lot of great info from both yourself and the commenters here. Thanks
I just got my kara key last night with my warrior.
I switched to full prot spec as a result /woeful mourning. I’m like 13/0/48 or something, can’t remember for sure. My critical sword strikes with a one hander now equal 400-500 damage! And I’m going to have to replace some gems in my equip to all tanking stuff, so my ap/crit is going to plummet even further. Again… /woeful mourning. Anyone reading this who has a prot warrior? Is the “one handed weapon spec” worth the pts? Or should I use them on something else? I’m underwhelmed right now, but the only place I can see me putting the points is in like imp sunder for cheaper sunders or something like that.
Despite my guild’s pissing and moaning, I will key my hunter also, and I will not ALWAYS be using my tank for kara and 5 man runs. We’re just going to have to branch out a little so I can play my fun dps class once in a while in a guild run also. I can’t get a run of lvl 70 instances as my hunter to save my ass. I’m still using some lvl 60 gear /cry. Apparently Anvilmar realm has no tanks or priests…
No realm has enough tanks or healers! That’s all I ever see. “LF2M – X instance – tank + healer”.
So my main non-hunter alt is a druid. I’ve always loved tanking (healing… not so much), but I don’t want to be completely helpless in solo PvE, and I’ve watched warriors solo – they can either blow the mob down at a brisk pace and eat after each fight, or end the fight at 80% health 15 minutes later, depending on spec.
DPSing is just more fun!
Damn, J, we’re on the same page then, that’s for sure. I soloed a lvl 67 non elite in BM last night… I had to ask the others help, as I was getting bored. So much for grinding. And I have to say, I have not leveled every character, but I’ve given a few a try. Leveling a warrior is the worst imo. While other classes can take out an elite their own level or a level or two higher… warriors can’t take out an elite two levels below him without potion/healthstone/stomp+bandage combo lmao. The problem is it doesn’t matter how much dps you do as a warrior, the odds are the mob can do more than you. And you’re face to face the whole time. Once you get pretty good gear, you can indeed dps a monster down pretty fast one on one, but you DO have to eat or, preferrably bandage after each fight. And several mobs at once can be handled if you’re hitting some crits… if not, the combined beating you take is just sad.
Glad to see that new guild finally got off their butts and helped ya get your key. And grats on some loot. Looks like you are finally getting somewhere.
