Pet Question and Why We Repsond in the Evenings
Every morning, BRK sets his Gmail to forward to his work account. We get every “Dear BRK” email you send during the day and read them ravenously. And it is our goal to reply to each and every email, even if it’s just a quick thanks. Yes we fall short on that some days, but that’s usually when Mrs BRK comes home in a good mood…
You can guess the rest. /wolfwhistle
But anyway, we don’t want to reply to your emails from our work address. We abuse our company enough: working five-hour days, taking two-hour lunches at the Tiki Bar on the ocean, etc. So while we may post your questions and comments on the blog, you may not get a direct reply until later in the evening. We hope that’s ok because we love each and every one of ya, even the dude who steals our self-flames and puts them on WoW Insider.
And now, a great email:
“Never truly understood the power of BM till reading your invaluable words of wisdom. Was specced half BM, half MM. Respecced yesterday to 41 point BM and WOW!!! Instantly turned from NOOB to Killing Machine NOOB. I also came in first in the damage meters after running Auchenai Crypts. Of course the rogue separated my pet damage so I was second and my pet fourth, but add ReaverKiller’s dmg and I beat out the stupid rogue who broke 10 traps.
“Currently I am lvl 66 and well on my way to 67, with a ravager pet with Bite 9 (need to tame a pet with Gore), and since my pet cant learn claw, was wondering whether you would recommend sticking with Bite or to go with Gore. Sud”
Hey Moony! I want a drawing for our WoW Insider column titled “Killing Maching NooB”. +5 BRK Cool Points to Sud for that. D@mn it’s funny.
Gore. Get it and be happy. Skip Bite; it is Focus-inefficient.
The Killing Machine NooB. We smell a tee-shirt.

So if Rite is focus inneffecient, what is a good replacement? my kitty ALWAYS runs out of focus, and I have your exact build (up to my lvl, 40) I have Claw, Dash, GRowl and bite…. is that the best combo? (and of course the new two)
Also- I joined a guild ages ago, and then due to Dram-Aggro, the GM left and my bf (yes a nerd has a girlfriend, get over it people) was the GM. only, not that he wants to actually raid and our guild was ittybitty, he’s left it to me. Now, granted- I LOVE being “guild queen” but… no one has signed on in forever, and we only have like 12 members. I seriously inherited something disfunctional here, how do I get more people and make it cool? help Mr. BRK! N00bs need you!
Running out of focus is kind of the goal. When he said Bite is “focus-inefficient”, what he meant is that if you have Bite but not Claw, Gore, or any other focus-guzzling ability, you’re probably going to be wasting focus because you’re not using it as fast as it’s coming in.
Bite is the most efficient in terms of damage per focus used, but the cooldown is so long that it makes a poor choice for the -only- damage ability. Your layout of Claw, Dash, Growl, and Bite is what i would call the “max dps” selection. The only thing you might want to change is to drop Bite for Cower, but only if you are running with a tank who has trouble building threat.
The pet can be respecced at any time for 10s. You just have to find a pet trainer.
I have no advice for guild management, though. I keep myself far away from positions of responsibility, which makes me wonder sometimes why i chose to be a main tank.
BRK runs Claw, Growl, Dash. Dat’s all. Claw has a 1.5 sec cooldown (global) and will eat up all the Focus you can throw at it. Bite can proc every 10 seconds. That’s 29 pet-talent points for one Bite per fight. Pfft. We’d rather buff our pet’s stamina.
