The New BRK 41/20/0 Uber-DPS Talent Spec

BRK » 25 May 2007 » In Pets »

What’s new? Improved Pet Mend FTW. Yes we lost Spirit Bond and that kinda makes us sad. We have run two instances with IPM and just really dig it. Pop a little heal here, pop a little heal there, it’s wicked.

Before this talent was made worthwhile, every once in a while we’d call out, “Can we get a kitty-heal please?” And nine times out of ten our healer would come through. Now? We’ve yet to ask for pet heals. Oh! And running around Skettis it was an Elune-send. We did a few quests there - four we believe - and except for one time where this golden bird morphed into three - is it suppossed to do that? - Hobbes kept right on trucking with zero down time.

Yes, the folks at the BRK Electro, Magneto, and Hydrodynamics and Chicago Deepdish Pizza Research Facility give Improved Pet Mend the “BRK Seal of Approval”.

I also had respecced for Improved Mend Pet last night, but there’s something about it that’s annoying.

When I cast IMP, then try to drink, it makes me stand up on the first tick, wasting my drink. Does it do this for you too?

Never tried it, but we shall and will report back.

Yeah. Does the same time to me… specifically, it’s when the “cleanse poison” proc hits.

Off topic except for the fact that it’s related to talents -

Lots of people complain about readiness because hunters don’t have a huge amount of abilities with cooldowns. Here’s my idea for a replacement:

    Aspect of the Earth
    60 Mana
    Instant Cast
The hunter takes on the aspects of the earth, healing the target of the hunter’s target by 3% of the damage that the hunter inflicts on his target. Only one Aspect can be active at a time.

Come on… you know that’d be cool. ;)

There was a post on the WoW hunter forums yesterday where a BM hunter with your exact build moved 1pt from Frenzy to Animal Handler for the additional 2% hit (4/5 Frenzy, 2/2 AH). He said that with CR and the increased hit chance, both Frenzy and FI were still up 100% of the time during his raid, refreshing before their cd’s expired, and he got the additional 4% mount speed to boot. Can’t find the link now, wow forum search is down again, but might be worth experimenting with.

    Hi Damh

I see that you don’t have Thick hide. I would’ve thought that having a cat means you need all the armor you can get or does increased pet training in stamina/armor mitigate this? And improved Mend Pet sounds good but 20% reduction in mana isn’t much and 15% chance of removing a posion or disease is a low %. Surely there are better talents? Like thick hide or maybe spirit bond (2% guaranteed health every 10 secs for you and your pet for FREE).

2/2 in IMP reduces Pet Mend to 240 mana for about 2700 health for Hobbes. We’re not a healer, but that seems pretty efficient, no?

2/2 IMP also gives us 50% chance every tick to remove curses, poisons, etc. We’ve always appreciated that, it’s just that we’ve never believed it was worth two talent points alone.

If we ran with a tanking pet full-time, we’d might have the bonus to armor. However, Hobbes has very low armor to begin with and bumping it isn’t going to help nearly as much as stamina. If Hobbes is asked to pet-off-tank, we request a caster mob as armor is negligible anyway.

Yes, we miss the Spirit Bond buff icon, but IPM is the schiznit right now.

Oops. I missed the 50% (not 15% as it is on rank 1) chance to cleanse an effect so that makes IMP more apetising. On a different note, your current build is for raiding (from what I gather) but do you think it would be effective for pvp as well?
