Random Friday Musings

You breaka dat trap, we breaka your face. Seriously.

We love grinding motes of fire in Blade’s Edge Mountain and motes of water in Skettis. Wanna make some quick cash? Spend an hour farming these things.

We can now run around the mine in Shadowmoon Valley doing our Netherwing quests and not get lost. Where’s our gold for that? Don’t we get a prize?

If that Boomkin grabs aggro from our pet when he’s main-tanking in Shattered Halls again, we’re gonna break out the BRK Druid BBQ Guide.

Never let shadow priests tank, no matter how much they beg.

If there is a better priest than Grazen on Drenden, we’ve never met him.

Guy got his first piece of Fan Mail delivered to the BRK Industrial Complex and Wendy’s Baconator Testing Lab. Grats!

Why the heck can we look at the WoW Europe forums at work and not the WoW North American forums?

If you’re running around Zangermarsh and collecting Strange Spores, be sure to chuck ‘em up on the Auction House. Hunters use those for Sporeling Snacks but there are rarely any of the Strange Spores on the AH. We’ll buy ‘em, we promise.

A reader wrote us about a 41/3/17 build he did and we are tempted, oh so tempted, to try it. But lose our +30% crit AND Go For The Throat? We just can’t do it.

BRK-reader Samasia wrote us a beautiful letter that normally we’d post. But we just published an ego-stroking email a day or two ago and we just can’t make ourselves post it yet. Maybe this weekend, though. /wave Samasia

If you don’t use WoWHead to search for potential gear upgrades, you’re missing out.

We recently traded Mrs BRK a 30-minute foot and leg massage in the spa for a kitchenpass to play WoW an hour earlier than we normally log on.

There are times we miss not doing a profession. Then we look at our epic flying mount and the 1300 gold in our bank and, quickly, sanity returns.

It seems as if the spam bots have been retooled into mining bots and they are completely out of hand, at least on Drenden. It’s ridiculous.

The Festival of Fire, or some other nonsense, has commenced. Who the bloody heck has time for these things? We’ve got instances, raids, farming, questing, and faction rep building to do. Who has time for the d@mn festivals? If you’re into these things, we’re not going to say you’re wasting your time, but we appreciate you staying out of our fire mote grinding area, so thank you for the cash.

In our company, we have a boss. Our boss has a boss. At this level of management are the department managers and are only two steps from the CEO. Recently, a department manager came to our office, poked his head in and said, “I heard you play Warcraft. I have a level 7 Draenaei paladin and maybe you can answer some questions? This game is so addicting!”

Careful BRK… Dwarves should be cautious when helping these big blue guys… emmm Draenaeis… I never trust them :P

But the boss’s the boss hehe

ewwe! why would anyone roll pally? lol, jk, I tried it and didn;t like it, and figured it wasn’t for me. for some reason, I like Locks and hunters the most… with priests as a close 3rd… some sort of sick caster fetish? maybe so. . .

  3. Anonymous on June 22nd, 2007 6:00 pm

Congratulations Guy and Samasia. As for the rest… meh.

  4. Anonymous on June 22nd, 2007 6:02 pm

Oh and Grazen too, I guess. Though I don’t know if that one counts being as you haven’t been on that server for very long, but what the hay… grats Grazen.

LOL, love it when that happens. A 37yr old lady transfered to my department 2 days ago and heard me talking about to to another coworker, and immediatly joined the conversation. i was taken aback and asked if she really played. she replied “My husband and I, and our 3 kids all play” i laughed, and now we have a 3rd for our early workday morning round table WoW discussions :D

What do you do to make sure that guy who pops your blue trap.. then gets instantly killed.. which causes you to be attacked next..

what do you do to get back at that guy?

my twink hunter lays traps then runs away.. but theres always a melee who comes up.. pops it before i’m in range.. and then the guy comes after me and kills me…

    then calls me a noob…

    i hate people like that…

so what do you do to people like that?

  7. Zemulos on June 22nd, 2007 6:44 pm

when you’re level 70, you ask them to not break the traps. AFter three early breaks, you queue up misdirect and multishot and let HIS ass get all the aggro in the room.

If you’re under 70, you can’t do much but draw all the aggro you can and feign death next to him.

  8. Bodingtons on June 22nd, 2007 6:59 pm

    Zemulos :

That’s what I dit in a ZG Pug lol… I was bored and didnt know where to head, and some 60 asked for more DPS in ZG… I came in and it was ok. We did the Raptor boss and then the Leader ninjaed all the stuff :P

A quick Misdirection on his ass and a multishot in a pack of 10 Raptor elites, followed by a quick Feign/Hearth did the job… :)

    My random responsive thoughts.

I used to roll with a mage who had a Macro or possibly an add-on that said every time he sheeped something “You break it, you tank it” I’m the same way about my traps.

I have a problem with my professions, you see I have LW and Eng. Which means I rely on my alts to grind the mats for me. I used the professions to gear for a MM build, now that I’m SV though, it doesn’t work out as well. Because I’m raiding I have so little time to farm and level alts. So I dump TONS of cash at the AH to level these things.

I’ve found the best way for me to go about things now is to work on skyguard rep, make money off the quests and drops AND build rep for a cool lookin epic mount and suweet crit trinket at the same time.

Boomkins are the shit and taste like chicken.

‘Priest tanking’ brings me back to Naxx..

Guy got his first piece of Fan Mail delivered to the BRK Industrial Complex and Wendy’s Baconator Testing Lab. Grats!

    mmmm… Bacon…

Seriously, not sure who my new admirer is, but if it’s Zem it doesn’t count. He’s obviously just another one of my multiple personalities.

It’s got to be Chris. But he just wants my bourbon.

You know what? Eff this. You’re all jerks and I’m going back to being an ASS. At lease I had more fun and didn’t get constant headaches from crunching DPS numbers all day.

    It was RIGHTOUS indignation.

This past month has been joy in terms of chillin with you guys here. The banter has spilled out into my guild chat now. Our Priest C/O has a lvl 70 hunter alt he plays regularly and he’s BM spec’d. I’ve been calling him ‘Hippy’ and telling him to go off to the woods and make love to his pet as that’s obviously the only pussy he’s ever going to get.

He’s a good sport about it.

Any build without mortal shots is weak.

Tried using the armory this morning for gear upgrades, didn’t work out so well, WoWhead is definitely preferred.

I have only ever had one coworker who played WoW. He was disgusted that I wasn’t Horde or on a PvP server (imagine if I told him I was a NE hunter…) he also might have been a little put off when I told him “No, I won’t reroll just to play on another server with you, your daughter and her BF.”

Now go kill something and screen shot it.

I forgot to mention, its more fun when you do misdirection and wait till the 30 sec are nearly over to shot… In my case the warrior which i Misdirected was actual at 200 yard from the pull… lol but the raptor pack was heading to him and the group :) It provide a safe zone to hearth and laugh with rogues that vanished and also hearthing. hehe

im going to slip a macro question in here…

i have ran with hunters that when they feed there pet it pops up hunterx feeds petx roast quail how do you add custom emotes with your macros????

Roleplayers do those silly events, and rabid vanity pet collectors. At a previous job, my boss called me into the office and said “We need to talk.” I got worried, but then it turned into a “So I hear you play WoW, can you tell me anything about it? I played WC3 and I loved it, etc. etc. etc.” it was good times.

  13. Peperic/Hawka on June 22nd, 2007 8:24 pm

There is an addon that adds the emotes in the chat screen if you want, you can turn it off too. It’s Fizzwidget’s hunter’s helper IIRC.

Is that all there really is to the game?.. no social interaction? no fun?.. What are you going to do when you’ve ground all the way to the Dark Temple and finished that? /wowquit? Ya gotta stop and smell the Savage Frond once in a while… I’ll all for optimized DPS, but really, there’s a reason this game has a social element..

  15. Misfit on June 22nd, 2007 11:41 pm

You can add any emotes you want in your macros. For example…

    /target Focus
    /cast Misdirection
/e has cast misdirection on %t.
    /targetlasttarget

    or

    /target Bigredkitty
/e sticks his finger in hes crack and places it under %t’s nose.
    /clear focus
    /gquit

Arg, my ex-boss started playing awhile back. He made a dwarf hunter. He would talk to me about how he was so surprised that the Blunderbuss he used actually worked despite its name, and that even though his gun was so noisy, no one seemed to hear it. Then when he was level 24 or so, he wanted my 45ish shadow priest to run him through the Stockades. I said, “That wouldn’t be a problem for me.” but he thought I said, “That wouldn’t be profitable for me.” and said in reply, “Uh, actually it would be.”

    . . .

Needless to say, I’m glad he never gets on anymore.

Oh, and did I mention he would come into work around noon saying he played WoW that morning from 8-10? Yet he expected all of us to be at work at 8 am sharp!

  17. Chris on June 24th, 2007 4:22 am

Guy, no fan mail from me. But I will take the Bourbon.

  18. Guy on June 24th, 2007 6:31 am

    no fan mail!?!?!?!?

    no bourbon for you.

BRK, what’s my ratio of fan to hate?
