Its Phat Loot Friday

BRK » 23 June 2007 » In Gear »

We’ve been waiting for these to show up on the Auction House since we arrived on Drenden. And hot d@mn we got ‘em, our first Outland purple. What do they do for Hobbes?

Hobbes Before

Hobbes After

Unbuffed, Hobbes health is sitting at 6425. Shazzam! He picked up 15.1 white damage DPS. Kapow! Our low-armor cat is mitigating almost 51% of all melee damage. Whop!

Naturally, we changed out a few items of our own to compensate for our lost RAP and crit. We got the Crit about the same, but lost about 90 RAP, our white damage DPS down from 313 to 307.

We’ll run some DamageMeters while we grind Motes of Fire tonight and see what comes up.

I bought those as well, great for farming even if you don’t end up using them much for DPS. How much did you grab em for? They’re also handy for PVP pregladiator.

I too have been longing to buy these babies for the longest time. they were on AH once in the last month… right after I had spent the 800g they were selling for on enchants… argh.

so now they are sitting on a survival PvP hunter with the clefthoof kit on them.

They might not be the best dps legs out there… but they sure add off-tanking power to a DPS pet.

so good on ya fer bagging these :)

It’ll be interesting to see what your damage meter comes up with.

I thought long and hard about buying these and decided against it in the end. Still not sure if I made the right decision. It would have meant removing my Sunfury Legguards: http://www.thottbot.com/i30948

Funnily enough, there were two people selling them on the trade channel and their competition drove the price from over 1000g down to 600g.

Hey Damn what specifically did you do to get the +40 attk pwr and the +10 crt added on to the leggings?

  5. Traz on June 23rd, 2007 1:35 pm

+40 AP and +10 crit is the Cobrahide Leg Armor patch made by leatherworkers: http://www.thottbot.com/i29533

There is a slightly better one called Nethercobra Leg Armor, which gives +50 AP and +12 crit: http://www.thottbot.com/i29535

Luckily, I am a LW and can make my own. But I really would never bother with the second one as the extra mats required are ridiculous compared to the small increase in AP & crit.

ARGG!! We just determined that when we wear this pants, we lose the gems we need to utilize the new Thundering Skyfire Diamond we slammed into our new Beastlord Helm.

I got em for 415g. Fairly reasonable. Really though, they are farming and off-tanking pants, not your dps pants. Seeing as how the hunter is the one who benefits from all the haste abilities, buffing your own dps by 5 is likely greater than buffing your cats by 13.

BRK: How does changing your pants affect the gem in your helmet????

In order to use the meta gem, one must have 2 red gems, 2 blue gems, and 2 yellow gems equipped as well. Our old pants had 3 gems that allowed us to use the meta gem. Without the old pants, the meta gem “turns off”.

We looked at replacing a gem with another color, but we’d have to dump one of our +8 agi gems that cost us an arm and a leg to buy. So for grinding, the new pants stay on and the gem is disabled. When we run an instance, the old pants will come back and the gem will reactivate.

i had the same gem problem when i got my T4 pants Thurs.

    Green gems ftw.

Thought. Growl scales with your characters AP right? Instead of your pets? Though I’d doubt the new pants would cause a drop in ap sufficient to make growl noticeably less effective.

There is an epic chest for sale that I’d like to buy (crafted I believe) But I would lose my metagem bonus, so I can’t wear it. The meta gem thing is getting to be a little restricting. I’m having to take less than optimal gems to keep my meta active. While an epic gem that gives +6 crit and +5 dodge sounds nice, I’d really rather be using +8 agi. This is getting annoying. Why do all the purples have no gem slots??

Why do all the purples have no gem slots??

    Annoying, isn’t it?

Gratz on your first Outland epic, Damh.
