New Posts? We’re Really Trying

BRK » 25 June 2007 » In PvE »

We’re busier than heck, have tons of cr@p to write about, and have BRK fan-mail out the ying-yang that has some really cool info. Until we can tell the bosses to get the h#ll outta our hair, here’s something to sate your hunter-appetite:

“Anything you’ve heard about your petting being useless in Gruul is a lie or old information that is no longer true. I respec’d MM for the fight so that while still remaining high up on the damage meter’s I could secretly scout out the future possibility of using my pet in there as a BM.

“Honestly, I didn’t even pay much attention to him and I think he died once (we wiped 2x got him on the 3). He rarely even lost health. The biggest problem was the “cave ins”, in which case the MT would usually back out of it or I’d simply just call him back to my side for the remainder of the aoe. And concerning the rumor that he does damage to nearby party members during the ground shatter, it appears to be untrue. Although he is effected by the slowed movement speed, I’m almost positive he didn’t give off any damage to anyone.

“All in all I’d say BM is a perfectly suitable build for a hunter to enter Gruul’s Lair with. In fact, out of the 3 hunters that went, the one with the most DPS was a BM we picked up at the last minute. He placed 2nd in DPS overall, just falling short of a rogue. Mike.”

I joined my guild recently and i was told by all raid to put my pet away.
For those that are BM, you know that it’s just like a stab in your hearth to put your faithfull companion aside, so i did and tapped dismiss button for the first time as i recall. I went to Gruul my second time after reading the valuable info on WOWWiki (praise the WOWWiki :) ) and i told everybody, don’t worry about my pet, my two fellow hunters remember what i’ve said before and poped their pets out also and we kicked “#$, so this in fact is to conclude that you can use your pet throught all the fight and just watch out for the cave ins and turn on the track humanoids, it helps to avoid raid memembers before the shatter :)

I a BM hunter and my pet filled the role of 2 dpsers in my sethek halls run yesterday.
I outdamaged the rogue that was in my group and my pet out damaged the marksman hunter that was in the group. (With pets not synced, syned I was doing about 40% of the groups damage) Now it was probably a combonation of me not sucking the the other 2 not knowing what they were doin. but it was funny none the less. I was level 67 and they (any my pet)were level 66 btw.

    BRK.
Take care of your RLA (Real Life Aggro), and I will be patiently waiting for your next post. :)

By the way, my 6 hour trap training marathons are paying off, a mage in kara last night noticed my trapping getting better while still 3rd in dps. THANK YOU!

I’ve sent everyone who asks me about talents, tricks and builds straight to your site, I even have it macro’d, to not just my hunter but to all of my characters.

Pets last a lot longer on Gruul these days than they had.

The fight itself has become more pet friendly as shatter no longer chains off pets.

Avoidance is pretty cool there too. Pet survivability has doubled on this fight over the last couple of months.

We customize a physical DPS group every time we go in. This consists of a feral druid, fury warrior, MM hunter, BM hunter and myself (SV hunter).

Damage for the night is usually:

    1.)MM
    2.)Me or Lock
    3.)Lock or Me
    4.)BM
    5.)Fury Warrior

The fury warrior really rocks, he does a crap load of damage, but he’s getting hit with all kinds of AOE and cleaves, so it’s hard to keep him up.

PS: I have been raiding now with the BM hunter for almost 2 years. I’ve seen him play every spec and his damage has never been remarkable, so in the case of Gruul I’m not blaming his spec, just the player. When he wants to have a DPS race, he does pretty good, he just doesn’t always give it his all.

Our guilds top dpsers are 3 BM hunters. On Gruul we do be around 10% each (inc pets) other dpsers are in the 5-8% range.

Been reading these posts and catching up. All this stuff made me realize that playing a Hunter is not a bad thing, even if there are 5 million of them in the game.
Plus I like reading about a Hunter that is a Dwarf just like I am again.

I usually raid with my Priest as good priests aren tvery common. Sometimes I can go along with my hunter (my former main raider).

It was Gruul time and we had too much healing with us (yeah happens) and I could log on my BM hunter.

First try was a bit odd and we had bad luck and wiped. However I was #1 on Damage Meter and people pointed that out to the Rogues and other Hunters in the raid. Note that I don’t have their Uber gear from Karazhan nor the big epic hunter bows from the Prince they all wear.

2nd try and Gruul was down. I was #2 (as our wonder rogue could do full damage without pause) and I was #2, 20% well in front of all other raid members.

One hunter wispered me “You convinced me, I am gonna respec to BM”

Wind forward one week later. Gruul time again this time I was along with my priest. This one respected hunter with his uber gear now reserved the #1 slot, doing 25% (!) more damage compared to all other raid members, even compared the wonder rogue we have.

We don’t force people to respec. But I got one by showing good example. The last 2 raid hunters will follow I bet :)
