Jeebuz Wednesdays Come Quickly
Wednesday, 3:00pm. You know what that means by now, we hope. BRK on WoW Insider is primed and ready for launch.
What else is going on? We ran heroic Ramparts last night through the first boss. Loads of fun trying to remember the pulls we haven’t done since January. Typical heroic instance, the boss was cake while the trash was mean and nasty.
We’ve given up on the Sha’tari Skyguard as there are only two daily quests while the Netherwing area has eight. Mo’ money, mo’ money, mo’ money, and a dragon too. We should have ours by Sunday.
Holy bird-dung, the proliferation of mining bots isn’t more obvious than when one mines on Netherwing Shelf. There’s adamantite and khorium littering the place. Why? Because one cannot go out there without the “disguise” one receives for getting started on the Netherwing quests. And to start those quests, you have to have the epic flying skill, which cost 5000g. What gold farmer is gonna blow 5000g for the privilege of mining on the Shelf? None. So they just send their d@mn bots everywhere else and leave that area alone. If you’re a blacksmith or other profession that needs ore, getting your epic flying mount just added another side-benefit; access to the best mining in Outland.
Did we mention we respec’d back to BM? We decided that since we’re running with a shadow priest, we’re gonna turn off Aspect of the Viper and stick with Aspect of the Hawk. Since AotH is gonna be our partner, we added 5/5 in Improved Aspect of the Hawk. We missed the screenshot, but at one point we had IAotH, our Thundering Skyfire Diamond, The Beast Within, Ferocious Inspiration, and our Abacus trinket all procing at the same time.
Speaking of the TSD, as soon as we see one of the meta gems that give +12 agility and +3% to crit damage, we’re gonna splurge and grab it. The TSD procs neither often nor long enough for us at all.
In the BRK Market Watch, Primal Fires are selling like crazy, 20 gold each. Stacks of Netherweave Cloth are down, fetching only 3-4 gold per stack. Primal Earths are going for 4 gold each, which really surprises us. Knothide Leather is down around 5 gold per stack, and the Scraps are barely getting 1 gold per stack. Adamantite, Khorium and Eternium remain steady at 20 gold per stack. BOE greenies aren’t selling worth a d@mn; we’ve having to vendor everything. You want fast cash? Get your good-for-nothing carcass to BEM and farm some Motes of Fire for an hour.
Finally, several our super-close friends are considering splintering once again and forming a Heroic-Instance guild. Kara is nice, but the logistics of it are a pain, we only run it 3x per week, and we have to deal with some unsavory types. The idea is a GM-only leader, no officers, no invites, just us friends. No forums, no website, no DKP. Anybody out there doing something like this? We’d love some feedback.

You need to befriend an enchanter and send all your greens and bad blue drops to them. I always have Arcane Dust and Planar Essence handy for enchants and a stack of Dust can easily sell for 25-30g.
Our rogue-buddy Doom is quite the enchanter, even though he won’t accept tips. He hooks us up with free enchants when we bring mats, but you are correct. We’re gonna start sending him our crappy BoEs today.
i agree with misfit…i do this for a few people and either store the materials especially for their enchants, or send them back to whore out on the AH. keep in mind that a 65-70 level green with random stats will usually yield 3-4 arcane dust per DE (60-64 will be more like 2-3). the same level greens with 3 usable stats (+agi, +stam, +attack power) will usually yield 1-2 greater planar essence per DE. Once in a while, high leve greens will return a large prismatic shard.

im currently mining 375/skinning 375
i have my epic mount and 1k gold and skinning is almost useless to me. im saving up a bit more then i plan on spending some gold and powerleveling enchanting. mainly so my resto shaman can have the dual +20 healing ring enchants but ill also be able to make the mana oils i use in raids as well as DEing on our 5 man runs.
skinning is great when you are leveling and killing stuff all the time. but now with the market of leather selling like youve described its just not worth keeping.
mourne, keep in mind that the ring enchants are all BOP. in other words, only the enchanter can wear the enchanted ring. not sure if your resto shammy is the toon you plan on powerleveling echanting.
also, a tip for powerleveling…try not to buy sub outland mats on the AH…use thottbot and find low level greens you can buy for cheap that will DE in to the mats you need.
- doom…again…
omg i caved…
aye it is my shaman who will be enchanting. Thanks for the tip on power leveling enchanting. I have a guide ready to and your suggestion will save me some gold. much appreciated!
i have almost 900. im saving for 1k this weekend and then ill spend 500 gold and get the enchanting as high as that will take me and then keep doing more enchanting lvling each time i climb back up from 5oo to 1k gold. i like to keep 500 on me at all toons so i can get gems/enchants immediately each time i get a nice upgrade.
On Uther clefthide leather is still going for 35 to 40 gold a stack. Heavy Knothide Leather is going for about the same. What i have been doing is bying all the Knothide scrapes and turning them into Heavy Knothide. I make about a 3 to 3.5 gold profit pre leather doing that. Because the scrapes are so cheap.

We have a guild + guild merged Kara group that works well, it’s like half and half and then some unguilded friends. There’s a shaman douche bag who whores all the loot unfortunately, and he’s a bit of a problem, but since he’s in the guild with the person who runs the raids, I don’t think we’ll be kicking them out anytime soon unfortunately.
I also went on a run with some random new guild for fun, and they did pretty good for their first time. Honestly, Kara isn’t hard to gear up for, but splintering into a heroic specific guild is just going to be a pain in the rear, especially since eventually you’ll WANT to progress to Karazhan. Karazhan is the UBRS of the expansion, same with Zul’Aman I would hope.
In the end, I really hope you stick with it on the whole Karazhan thing, in many ways it’s a million times easier than heroics. So… don’t lose faith yet and try and get something organized for a Karazhan with trusted non douche bag friends.
NOOOO! Does no one listen to me?
TSD is better.
sylv, just to clarify…we’d be running heroics until some RL friends and relatives are ready to step in. as it stands now, there are 6 of us who are raiding and another 4 with just under 1/3 left to go until 70.
just to give some background, the 6 i refer to all started off in a family guild a while back. some stuff happened and we all went our seperate ways for a bit, but now weve found ourselves back together again. thing is, we all enjoy each others company more than anything…at least i know i do. i play more for the social aspect than anything else…if it werent for them, i wouldnt even play at all.
Another tip for leveling up enchanting from scratch at 70:
The tip about buying cheap greens and DE’ing them is def a good one but I know that on my server the greens tend to be fairly expensive at times.
A really good option (especially leveling from 1-300ish) is to run an instance that drops the level of green equipment that you need. At 70 you can solo pretty much any instance you need to and you can pretty much skip the bosses since you won’t needs very many shards when leveling to 300. If you’re a hunter or mage farming these instances solo becomes even easier.
Hey BRK, you CAN get lots more Skyguard daily quests… but you have to complete the five group quests in Blade’s Edge first to start doing soloable quests at Ogri’la.
That ogre down in Lower City has a ‘go to this quest hub’ quest.
I usually save the BOE greens for De’n. I gather about 10-20 and ask nicly one of me Guilds ‘chanters. They are more then happy to crank thme out. I usually try to tip but get turned down. One time I made the guy helping me keep 10 Planars as a tip. At the time they were at a ridiculous price. Since I didn’t need them yet I had no prolem parting with them. Now I keep all the stuff and send it to the wife’s char for the making of Imbued Nether bags. Makin all kinds of money there.
I got my epic flyer this weekend so I’m starting the wonderful quests for rep of the Netherdrakes. I’m Actually having fun too. I made over 120g just from the chain and the first few dailys. Had to stop only cuz i ran out of space and food for the grind kills. As for the Netherwing ledge…yeah good place for the mining. I was cranking this place even before i could disguise myself. Was alot harder with out the mask, but still doable. I think Blizz did a good job with this particular rep grind. A lot of thought went into it and it shows.
What Hawk said. Two of those quests let you earn rep for two different factions (Skyguard and Ogri’La) at the same time, and they’re actually kind of different. I’m half a day away from Revered with the Skyguard now, and I only do stuff about every other day, thanks to Kara etc. Besides, I need the gold for Mr. Epic Gryphon before I can take on the Netherwing quests.
The important thing is to play for the enjoyment of it, I think. If you look back over pretty much every Kara post on this site, you’ll notice most of them mention getting [stood up] and not actually going or there’ll be [some other complaint] about some aspect of the logistics of it all… and this is during what, three or four guild changes to boot? Clearly something isn’t right.
That’s the problem with raids really, I mean it’s hard enough in life in general to find 10 people that you really get along with, that you’d want to spend hours in the same space with, and then add in scheduling and class requirements and player ability requirements and it can get pretty messy.
At the end of the day, achieving something with our game time has to be better than sitting around waiting for nothing to happen, and if you have some people on the way to a Magic 10 proto-guild, all the better I say.
