Reth’hedron the Subduer

Build a Soul Canon. Attack Reth with it while you are flying, it’ll do 2008 damage to him every tick. Don’t let him kill you in mid-air or knock you off your mount.

We died a lot. Over and over. All our gear went to Zero Durability. We cried, we pouted, we got told to be quiet by Mrs BRK. We could avoid the dismounting attacks but his damage would kill us before we killed him.

We got ourselves a resto druid and we cleared a spot for him to stand where he wouldn’t grab aggro. We flew in circles around Reth and, when we popped over his head, Tred would heal, renew, or whatever it is druids do. A few crit-heals later and Reth was sent packing. That quest was worth 1000 rep with Netherwing and the big reason we got our drake a day early.

Oh, and the warrior was just in the group for chatting purposes; he wasn’t with us.

    First: when you stand on the portals roof you see in the pic you will finish the quest even if someone else does it (its tied to the demon vanishing inside the portal).

    Second: you can aggro him with the flying mount and land on the roof and run back and forth on it with the laser tag on all the time. You won’t get damage this way.

    Any number of people can finish that quest by simply standing on the roof watching :)

    I’m surprised you had difficulty with this. Dodging back and forth to avoid the fireballs didn’t strike me as difficult. In fact, the only tricky part was that, if you get too far away, he heals, even though the beam is still on him. It’s deceptive.

    I came here to comment on the advice regarding taking a resto druid with me, as I am looking to complete this quest tonight.

    I found even more advice regarding how to finish this quest, and now I am confident I’ll be able to finish this without much hassle once I get back.

    Inspired by your (and Coriel’s) WoW blogs, I too have started one. Come by (I doubt I have any readers, I just blog cuz I am bored) and I’d love your comments et al.

    Currently, if you shoot him with the cannon, then fly behind one of the alter’s pillars, you can complete it without a scratch.

    Oh hell i wish i had known that about the portal top. I treid this 3 times. I finally spent bout 5-10 minutes perfecting a strafe-circle flying menuever. I would get hit every once in awhile by shado bolt or a slow. but not enought to blast away my 8k health. Rogue tank ftw. Now if i can only get the last 2 flying races completed….
