Guild News - A Quick Review

BRK » 02 July 2007 » In Guild »

1. We were in a kara-raiding guild, Vanquish, and having a good time.

2. The GM changed the loot rules so that people with lesser gear would get the drops before others.

3. Essentially, all of Kara Group 2 says, “Pfft” and gquit.

4. The Guild That Must Not Be Named is formed from the old Kara Group 2 and we join.

5. We eventually realize - after several beatings about the head and shoulders - that the guild name is offensive, even if it doesn’t offend us personally.

6. We talk to the GM and ask him to consider changing it before Blizz makes him.

7. He considers it, says no, we say good luck and gquit.

8. Blizz brings down the hammer on The Guild That Must Not Be Named and says, “CHANGE YOUR NAME!” Much chortling ensues.

9. The Guild That Must Not Be Named is renamed Naviety, Ignoble, or something that we cannot remember at the moment, (and it’s driving us CRAZY!!)

10. The former members of The Guild That Must Not Be Named are all reinvited, except us. Apparently some guild officers believe we are the ones who filed a complaint and don’t want us back. The GM believes that we didn’t - and we really didn’t - and needs to smooth things over.

11. Seventy-two hours later, things aren’t smoothed and we’re not getting a reinvite.

12. Our close-knit group has a casual leveling guild to which we accept an invitation from the Diet Coke of Evil. Her hubby is leveling his warlock and we’re stoked to help him out. We show him our Netherdrake and he is suitably impressed enough to promise to eschew his wife’s spending habits and save for his epic mounts.

13. The rest of our friends remain in Naviety, which is fine with us; we still run instances together and are planning to finish everybody’s heroic keys. Regardless of what guilds we’re in, our little group is Elite. We know each other’s playstyle, trust each other, and there is nobody with which we’d rather run.

Brigin is one heck of a tank; we never pull aggro from him. The DCoE is a mean Shadow Priest and tanks like a pro when needed, even though we tell her not to. Doom is a tremendous rogue and a great party-leader, (he doesn’t out-DPS us, but who does?) Tredezar can switch from Boomkin to Resto and back it’s like he’s played both specs his whole life. And we’ve said it before, but Grazen is the best holy priest we’ve ever met.

Quick Grazen Story: We’re running Shattered Halls like a hot knife through I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. Grazen is bored. Brigin says, “You’re Bored? Fine!” and pulls not just one 5-pack, but two of them. Not only did we survive without a single death, we finished the fight all at 100% health, including my cat, and Grazen still had 50% of his mana left. We still have no idea how he did that.

14. We feel the pull of Karazhan again and decide research guilds that are recruiting. We find a nice guild called Aetherial Circle and send the GM a wow-mail asking to talk when he has a chance. As we’re farming Motes of Fire, (got 80 of them, sold them all for 120 gold), as we level our new Windserpent, (we’ll do a full report when he’s ready), when the GM contacted us. Thirty minutes of yapping later, we tell the DCoE that we’re leaving Immortal to join AC and we’ll report how nice it is, hoping that the rest of the gang will follow us if it’s as nice as it seems to be.

15. Ka-ching, we’re in AC. We say hello, how are you, if there’s anything we can do to help, just ask.

“Can you come to Black Morass and handle the adds? We’re trying to get two people their Kara keys and nobody can handle the adds.”

BM Adds? That’s our speciality, sure we’ll go. Badda-boom, badda-bing, BM is complete and two AC members have keys. The guild’s main healer, the GM’s wife - and a female dwarf! - gives us a big hug. We blush prettily.

And the tabbard isn’t a train-wreck either, thank Elune.

Grats on the new guild. Try to stop guild hopping now! :O

Seriously though, you can cross-server report guild names. When my guild was shutdown/disbanded, I reported another guild with the same exact name on a different server. So, honestly, it probably WAS your fault, simply because anybody on WoWInsider or your blog could’ve reported you.

    Side-Note: It wasn’t me, I swear.

Never mention the boomkin out-DPS’ing us! He also grabs aggro like crazy and provides zero crowd-control support! And he, he, he has molt!

Hey, it can’t be helped. Moonkin can output some impressive damage. :) Now that Subtlety applies to damage spells as well as healing spells, well, the threat isn’t as much of a problem as it used to be. Get a Blessing of Salvation in there and they can really go to town.

I switched to feral a while back, though, because we needed another tank. Alternating between bear and cat form as the OT rarely puts me on the top of any charts.

The key to getting your hunter into a guild with no fuss is to have him as the alt to a main who isn’t a hunter. ;)

    BRK,
Even more important than finding the right guild, Congrats on finding a team that you know and trust so implicitly. My mentor (other than you) plays a level 64 Pally and we go places and do things we probably have no reason doing, just for kicks. 3-man/woman-ing the Ramps(regular not heroic, we aren’t stupid) or LBRS just for some extra change in the pockets. It is because we trust each other and know exactly what the other will do. That to me, is a large part of the fun of the game.

  10. Anonymous on July 2nd, 2007 3:33 pm

Once upon a time we had a good team too. But then they all split up over petty reasons and went their separate ways. Some are still guild hopping, some are together again, and others have abandoned all to go it alone in another guild. Very few are left from the original team, but holding strong…

I guess no one can bypass the horrors that befall guilds due to BC.

Good luck. I hope the guild hopping stops soon and you find some sort of happiness.

Grats on your new guild and your netherdrake. Had to catch up on your posts because I’ve been… pre-occupied the past few days. Grats anyway!

I’m not surprised you didn’t get invited back to the old guild. You turned your back on them at one point on a whim, so what will stop you doing it again? Guilds need people who will be loyal to the guild, no matter how cool they are or how skillful they are with their class.

  14. BRK on July 3rd, 2007 2:37 am

We considered deleting the previous comment, but then we laughed. Anon thinks we’re cool and skillful, so it stays.

  15. Guy on July 3rd, 2007 4:34 pm

    LOL

Anon did say that didn’t he!

    /sigh @nubs.

BRK.. You really are better off without them.
