Botanica and Pet Spell Macros

BRK » 08 July 2007 » In Macros, Pets »

We ran Botanica twice last night trying to get the Beast Lord Curiass to drop. Nada. But the other predicament we faced was changing our pet from Tank to DPS-mode and back again with seemingly every other pull. Growl on, Bite off. Growl off, Bite on. We missed it a few times and had to chain-trap to make up for the mistake. There has to be an easier way!

There is. Pet Spell Macros.

With one press of a button, we want to turn Growl on and Bite off. We have a PetTank macro for that:And when we want to switch to DPS-mode, we have a PetDPS macro:Now to use them, we added two more slots to our Bartender 3 action bars - and we use CyCircled for aesthetics - and mapped keystrokes to the macros:See the two macros at the top of the bars? Notice how we have mapped Shift-W for the PetDPS macro, and Shift-E for the PetTank macro. We used these key combinations because it’s very unlikely that we’ll hit either of those by accident, and they can be smacked using just our left hand.

We like ‘em a lot.

Edit: And a big BRK Shout Out to Raster for the cool header-graphic. Thanks man!

New site banner looks spiffy, by the way. :)

BRK, I was wondering about a macro similar to this. I hate having to reach down to my pet bar to turn Growl on/off in the midst of trying to save a healer. Is it possible to make a macro that simply toggles the autocast of Growl on/off by pressing it? Or do I need to set up two macros (one to turn it on, one to turn it off)?

I am using my 5th amendment rights on the anonymous post above lol. BRK sick’em boy lol. Really though I dont think you can set up a single macro for this but if you copy paste the 2 that BRK was so nice to post for us and bind them his way I am sure it will work fine.

We have been unable to develop or find a “toggle” macro, or even use “petautocast” in a castsequence series. We tried using modifiers with the “petautocast” and that didn’t work either.

As of today, the only way we’re aware of switching Growl off and on without clicking on the actual action button is the dual-macro method we’ve shown here.

Of course, if some macrohead comes up with something and sends it to us, we’ll be sure to post it.

Yeah, thanks for the input. I have found the same thing. I used to know how to do it, pre-2.0, but when the rules changed, I haven’t been able to find a way to get it to function…

Thanks for posting this. With some playing around I found that you can use modifiers so I have

    /petautocastoff Growl
    /petautocaston [pet:cat] Dash
    /petautocaston [pet:cat] Claw
    /petautocaston [pet:boar] Charge
    /petautocaston [pet:boar] Gore
    /petautocaston [pet:wolf] Dash
    /petautocaston [pet:wolf] Bite

for DPS and pretty much the reverse for tank. So you can customize for your pet and its abilities.

    re: growl toggle
    probably
    /petautocastoff [nomodifier] Growl
    /petautocaston [modifier:Shift] Growl

    or you could use [modifier:alt] / [modifier:ctrl]

I have found that in a macro you can only have 1 autocast on and 1 autocast off, Unless it is the same spell so:

    /petautocastoff [nomodifier] Growl
    /petautocaston [nomodifier] Cower
    /petautocaston [modifier:Shift] Growl
    /petautocastoff [modifier:shift] Cower

all this from a Warlock :P
