One of the Top Ten BRK on WoW Insider Comments Ever

Said in response to a warrior with a tanking-comment:

“If you have problems generating rage, you already outgear the content. Man up, and tank without pants.”

Seriously, can a Pantless Shadow Lab run be far off? Or “Pantless Shattrath Saturday”?

We so need screenshots when you do this, and we know you will, so don’t be selfish.

Our MT/OT occaisionally get berated into helping on 5 man content where they have that problem and they usually end up Dual Wielding (and yes DW Sun Eater/King’s Defender tanks are just as ridiculous as they sound). They’ve never gone pantsless, but I’m pretty sure it’ll happen once I mention this. :D

Oddly, our Warlock Leo tank looks like he’s tanking pantsless due to the big scary s2 head/shoulders on top of pasty white FR gear.

Rumor is one night after Gruul kill one of our MTs got bored of the whole “Sword and Board” thing, and even though he’s prot. He duel wielded his way through a heroic mech as the Main tank for that 5 man.

    Legends were born that night.

    Legends.

What if you have a Tauren for a tank? Do you really want those things running around pantless?

It’s actually pretty common on our server that tanks remove items to handle content that their gear has surpassed.

Most remove their pants because it’s just funnier that way.

Fully geared out of Kara and Gruul’s, a Prot Warrior will generally drop their pants and another item (or more) to tank a level 70 5-man dungeon. Any of the lower level Outland dungeons require the tank to strip half naked it seems.

Next you’ll have hunters going pantless while doing DPS.

a warrior in my guild used to tank sv with a 2hander, because it was just that easy.

i think he may have even done some of the boss fights with it

    We get pants?

  9. Misfit on July 11th, 2007 11:01 pm

Jeez, dont any of you run with Tankadins? Since Tankadins generate the majority of their threat from being hit, if the mobs arent getting through the armor, then they wont generate enough threat to stay above the party. Sometimes overgeared paladins have to remove an item to lower the total armor so that they can get hit enough. As you might expect, removing the pants is by far the funniest item to remove, so yes, this is a legit statement.

So what we’re getting from this is that a totally cool way to show a tank some respect is to shout,

“Dude! You rock, but take off your pants!”

    Gotcha, we’re on it.

Back in the day I would tank those 45 minute Baron runs dual wielding as Fury with full Might in Defensive stance.

Now I’m a tankadin I have to keep my shield because blocking is a big source of aggro. For Kara trash and normal 5-mans I just use my spell damage plate. I have about 700 with wizard oil. The block value needs to stay low because some of that reflected damage is only triggered if the attacker actually gets through.

Running without pants probably is a good option because our T4 legs are the worst piece.

    “TANK NEKKID”

I think I like that motto.

But yeah, becoming overgeared for the content for us Tanks does cause rage problems.

Good article BTW BRK. Seems as though your most hastily-written pieces generate the least amount of community angst!

Don’t think we haven’t noticed that too. That’s why we started next week’s column yesterday.

Heh, I’ve got shots of two of my tanks going through an early Underbog while we were grinding up to 70. Still one of the funnier runs.

Of course, when one of the said tanks was running through Stockades and pulled the same stunt and DIED, well, he’s never quite gotten rid of the ribbing he takes from that.

I still love seeing my good pally tank friend running Underbog with nothing but his weapon, shield, trinkets, rings and necklace.

Sure we wiped 2 times, but it was sooo worth it.
