its risky but sometimes if the target is in front of me and the poly is linear to the targeted mob (or spaced a bit to the left or right) ill make sure im close up and splat a multi shot in my targets face ;)

I believe as long as CC target is behind the dps target multishot shouldnt be a problemo..right..?

My biggest problem with turning away from the action just to be able to fire a multi is simply that I am turning away from the action.
Not a problem in my regular group, but not every mage is smart enough to resheep in time, nut every priest can shackle and MT-heal without losing control of one of these taks occasionally. As I am usually the one buying them the time to regain CC, I simply have to have the cc'ed mobs in my field-of-view.
So this means outranging CC, or "in-ranging", by having in my dead zone.

I always thought it depended on which mob you targetted rather than which way you were facing (other than the 180 degree standard firing arc, of course), and alternate mobs had to be within a certain distance of the targetted mob (say 7 yards?). So if I have a sheeped mob off to the right I'd target the left-most mob or not use it at all.

I've been trying to figure out how to replace or alter some of the ingame models, so there is a pattern on the ground (like some of the caster animations like summoning), which show (my) melee range, ranged range, deadzone and multi shot angle, but I'm still a bit dumbfounded at actually getting it to work and making it a bit more subtle then a few bright red rings on the ground.

if you have a good guild group this is a non issue most of the time but when you pug all your groups like i do you never know were the CC mob will end up. i have had mage that sheep there mob as soon as the tank pulls and i have had them sheep it right next to the tank i have also had tanks charge the mob and tank it were it spawns so you need to be prepared for anything......

So this last Tuesday we were doing our one day Kara clears as usual.

Anxious to get started and see what new bugs that days patch were going to bring us we zoned in at about 7:50 cst.

Along our clear to the Huntsman I had a fairly unique experience after trapping my target..

I had repositioned a full 10 yards from my trap and turned a full 90 degrees to my left, laid the next trap, and opened my salvo on the MT’s target directly in front of me.

W T F – no targets to my left, so no shot went that way, but the target in front of me AND the target 90 degrees to my right (the trap) BOTH get hit. My trap breaks and the mob comes running for me.

The second trap caught him, but I was completely dumbfounded. After speaking with the other hunters in my guild they reported to that once in a blue moon they have seen the same. So the good news is: It’s not a bug from the last patch.

If I had to guess it’s kind of like the ole’ Halo Rocket Launcher glitch, when you turn so fast and shoot, things don’t go the direction they should always. I had noticed a lag spike at the time, I’m sure that had something to do with it.

But if you have ever seen one of your multishots split out to the right or left a full 90 degrees you know it can be a shit your pants kind of experience.

Later on Moroes I asked the lovely FaeFae if she wouldn’t mind repositioning her shackle so I could get a clear multishot on the boss. She VERY curtly responded with “Just Break it!” we all lol’d and it worked. The targets CC was broken and moved out of my multishot range without skipping a beat.

I love it when a plan comes together.

-guy

PS: In other news my guild is beginning to pick up steam with progression again. We killed Kazzak and Doomwalker and Gruul last night. The first two being very exciting fights that we hadn’t done before. Tonight I believe we’re going to hit up Void Reaver and then continue our attempts on SSC bosses. I smell newer boss kills inc.

I'd also like to note the close safe zone for multi shots

often I'll ice trap directly in front of myself, then blast a multi at MT and the mobs around him (with misdirect on the tank if he's luck) because the ice cube is within melee range he won't get a multi arrow, using this knowledge coupled with the turn to put the other CC out of the zone of terror, a hunter should be able to thoroughly impress all around him

As a Mage (Main), Hunter (Alt) I can speak from both sides. First it's up to the mage to do his job better if he is parking the CC mobs at the tanks feet. He should have the target pre-selected and be casting the sheep as soon as possible to avoid this situation. If there are pats to worry about a good mage will wand the CC'd mob first and move to where he wants the sheep to be and then sheep them in position. Also the tank "most" of the time can move the main assist/dps mob away from a sheep at least to some degree to help aleveate this problem. If you add that into what BRK is trying to do here you should rarely have any problems with breaking CC'd mobs. It's not just the hunters issue, the mage, tank, hunter and other dps'ers should all be working as a team.

Fyn
