BRK Jr Has Too Many Toys Out Here

BRK » 25 July 2007 » In Blog, Gear »

We’re sitting in the garage, on the iBook and the wireless network, enjoying some reheated beef and broccoli, watching the boy using the flowerbed at the mailbox as a sandbox when he’s GOT a sandbox in the backyard… and we just finished installing MMO’s new character pane iframe tool dealie-o. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you’ll see it.

1) It doesn’t show gems
2) It doesn’t show enchants or scopes
3) It doesn’t show set bonuses
4) It’s not scalable so I can’t put it in my right side bar or the main blog section, I’m forced to put it at the top or the bottom of the page
5) Our Armory profile is a single mouse-click away, anyway, and it has everything but #4 covered

Opinions?

Edit: It is gone; not a single, “I like it” comment so poof.

    yeah.. I’m not really a big fan of it.

    I say take it down and wait for a better one to come along, or atleast find a way to squeeze it someplace else.

    Gonna leave it up for comments, but we agree it’s not going to be a permanent fixture of da blog.

    And seriously, Guy wins Best Avatar of 2007. The contest is over.

    It looks amazing. But, could use some functionality tweaking.

    Really, take it down.
    Or wait, till they get it to work wits an Opera browser - it looks really horrible in it.

    You could choose a wider format, might help a bit.

    Take it down after you get a few more comments! :)

    1) Doesn’t work on Firefox either (looks REALLY weird);

    2) Even on IE, on a 120 DPI display it has *both* horizontal and vertical scrolling bars;

    3) Doesn’t show your enchants as you said it yourself;

    4) Doesn’t show gems as you so said too;

    5) Doesn’t show set bonuses as you said too;

    Quite simply: a waste of space! I’d rather click on your armory link if I want to see what your gear is!

    It’s disappointing they haven’t implemented the gem part of it, knowing how the Armory XML looks there are attributes for each item ‘gem0Id’, ‘gem1Id’ & ‘gem2Id’ the numbers in these attributes are item ID’s you can use on Wowhead & Allakhazam to locate the actual Gem - fairly easy in my opinion.

    There is also a ‘permanentenchant’ attribute for each item, however I found it much harder to determine which enchant it was, the ID’s didn’t match anything on Wowhead or Allakhazam.

    OT -

    I’ve seen some of your screenshots in past posts - I was wondering if you could write about what addons you use and why?

    Agreed take it off for all the reason listed plus it’s actually easier to click the armory link instead of scrolling all the way down there.

    Personally I’m a big fan RPGOutfitter. They give you the information needed to display not only your “profile” for armor, rep, talent spec, and honor but also the capability to share your equipment, full inventory, crafts recipes, or even equipment wishlist

    You have only yourself to thank for that.

    Better than any “points” I could have gotten, that’s for sure.
