We Want the Hunter to Be Smug, Not the Cat
We want a new website, we’ve been saying that for a while. We’ve got a prototype, it’s basically done, thanks to a volunteer web designer who has graced us with his time and energy. But we want a new banner. We want a banner that will amaze. We want it to be the best. We want the Greatest Warcraft Banner of All-Time.
So we decided to hire someone.
And not just anybody. If we’re gonna blow our own kinda-hard-but-really-just-faking-it earned money on a banner for our non-profit blog, we want some Name Recognition. We want the Internet Michelangelo, gosh dang it!
So we hired him.
But he doesn’t play WoW.
Training. We have to train him up, we do. This is going to take some time. What does a Tauren look like, an Orc, a Dwarf, etc. We’re taking screenshots of just about everything you can imagine and feeding our hired gun everything we can think of to help our project along.
So who is “him”? His name is John Cox and he is the John Cox of Cox and Forkum, the premier political cartoon website on the Internet. He has his own website you can peruse to get an idea of the amount of talent this guy has coursing through his veins. It’s staggering what he can do.
Do you want to see the first rough draft of what he’s done for BRK? We’ve been sitting on this drawing for a week now and we cannot hold it back from you anymore:

But we have no doubt that this will morph into the Greatest Warcraft Banner of All-Time! Frankly, we’re so excited we can’t sit still.

So far that banner looks pretty neat. Though you should have a Hunter’s Mark on top of one of them.
Hunter’s Mark! Nah. We want a Kitty that is Big and very Red.
I guess you’re hiring him for the art, so maybe it’s not really relevent, but linking approvingly to Cox and Forkum dims my BRK enthusiasm a bit.
Best of luck getting the banner you want though.
Just thinking about the BRK - 100% Beastmaster, this is not strictly true. However 67.2% Beastmaster does not quite cut the mustard.
BRK works very hard to keep this blog WoW-centric. Everybody has opinions on controversial subjects and so do we, but that’s not what this blog is about.
Regardless of what you think of the subject matter at C&F, look at the artistry in the pictures on that blog. The ability to do so many styles, we get lost trying to imagine how to do that stuff. BRK can barely draw a stick figure; he’d give just about anything to be able to draw anything that could possibly REMOTLY approach his work.
Wouldn’t you??!!
Sorry, everyone has hangups, and that pushed a button or two for me that made it hard to enjoy the art.
To be honest though, I think I’d ask for rock hard abs and a good singing voice rather than the drawin ability, because, honestly, it’s probably way harder to pick up chicks with a sketchbook.
Shutter, re ‘pick up girls’ I’d say that you have no artists for friends. I did while in college, and still have a few. They could pick up girls (and guys, if that was their aim) at a rate that would shock most bodybuilders and singers. All it took was a pencil, a sketchpad, and a line:
“Could you stop for a minute so I can use you as a model for my sketch?” (or variations thereof).
Instant flattery pull with low aggro, and a narcissism trap refreshed easily by showing them the sketch in progress. Heck, most of the ones I knew were able to multi-trap. Gads, I was jealous. Still never mastered getting past the stick figure, but I could sure see its worth.
+5 BRK Cool Points to Kirk for totally getting it.
… poor Mooney
well i love there work zero visibility is great and right on the money…..

As a web programmer, I’m more curious about the new site - is it just a new skin for your Blogger site, or a whole new standalone website?
/what dave said
As for cartoon’s etc… I pay no attention to any of it. Glad you found an artist that you like and are eager to work with.
One request!!!! Please if it’s a stand alone website, don’t tag it with any bs that my web proxy at work won’t like!
Totally new site, not a skin. It’s got forums and places to upload your pics and movies and everything. A real site, know what we’re saying?
However, we’ve put further developent on hold until the banner is done.
@kirk
Lol, I’d never have come up with that. Probably why I don’t (and shouldn’t) play a hunter, despite reading their blogs and stealing their loot.
Shutter - you don’t have to be a hunter, just grok them. I’m a priest, mostly. I’ve got a hunter alt I’m bringing up, and I like my warrior alt as well (helps recognize the non-obvious Good Job work from my favorite sort of partner, the tank). But on every server on which I’ve played, at least one priest is the first character.

Ditto what kaxk said.
Good lord? John Cox?
Only Phil Foglio would have been better… and not by much…
Both let the art bring the funny, instead of relying upon the hit or miss of content…
I am boggled sir, if you weren’t a stinkin dwarf, I might even give you respect
One tought… the hunter is too large in relation to the cat.. you are a dwarf after all.. cat looks too much like snagglepuss.
Congratulations on your upcoming move! That will be exciting, indeed. <3
Love the crazy expressions of terror on the random mobs, a superbly hilarious corner. =]
/agree with anon. Work web proxies are notorious for blocking strange sites that start appearing on the history. Blogspot is on the approved list because someone may be doing legit work there (in theory).
/agree with the work proxy request.
What are the mobs? Troll in front, orc (with horns? Demon maybe?) back and right, wizard (??) back and left, viking (????!) center?
Maybe go PvP (Horde…) toons?
/request troll with mohawk, cuz that’s how we roll.
Otonashi and Naranji, retired. (But still reading BRK…)
@ all the anons, yes, I am doing my best to make it work proxy safe, having been stuck behind those evil things too often myself.
It will even have a Boss Key (you know, press the link and a picture of a spreadsheet will come up, so it looks like you are hard at work)

A fellow BM hunter, mac user, Texan, and now another reason to like you even more. I love you man!
Why poor Moony? I’m all for it! I’m excited for him. To have gotten an artist with the talent of Cox to do a commission for BRK in itself is admirable.
I’ve seen better and I’ve seen worse. I’m happy for BRK to have landed such a skilled professional to do his banner for him.
Moony can always be replaced. I was asked to help, and help I have tried to do. But I have commissions of my own to take care of. ^_~
