We Go Back, Back to AV
A few weeks ago, maybe as long as a month now, a nice girl named Hydra posted on her blog how she’d wanted to do an AV with BRK. We thought, why not? She’s in our battlegroup so it shouldn’t be too difficult to accomplish.
After a few unsuccessful attempts at getting together, it finally happened today. We got Hydra on our vent sever and did the 3-2-1-Go! method of queuing for an AV. Bingo, it worked first time and we got into the same AV.
This screenshot is from the first one we did. Yes it was a loss, the horde just stormed Stormpike and nuked him. Does the Storkpike-pulling trick still work? It been a long time since we’ve been up-to-speed on the quirks of AV. We missed our AV timer bars, too. And a real PvP spec, BM/MM or otherwise. And the right potions. And more stamina.
Riding down to the first graveyard a horde shadow priest, Vanquished, decided to dot the everliving beejeezus out of our attack-force. Yummy, a squishy-snack for Hobbes. This guy did the same thing, over and over, trying to sacrifice himself and dot the entire alliance advance. We killed him at least three times that we know of: the initial rush, at Galvangar, and at the Iceblood Tower where he tried to hide but we saw him before he melded. He had a good strategy, look how much damage the guy did, but he would’ve been greatly enhanced with a healer or two keeping him alive.
Regardless, it’s a good thing we didn’t forget our stamina gear; those curses were mean. Yay for healers and cleansers in battlegrounds.
On the second AV we got stomped even harder as the horde mounted a decent defense. There was a great battle at Frostwolf graveyard, though, that the Alliance showed how teamwork can beat moderately-superior numbers.
Hydra, BRK, two rogues and a paladin healer against about seven horde who were either inexperienced or just unlucky. We targeted their priest and Bestial Wrathed him down. Their warrior, wanting to protect their healer, charged us. Preemptive Freezing Trap FTW. We froze him and wing-clip kited him three times while the rogues worked together to obliterate the clothies first, Hydra finally got in a position to really shine and dotted the place like a kindergardner practicing her i’s and j’s, and our Pally kept us all alive. Is there a greater feeling in PvP than seeing your health go from 1300 to 6000 from a single crit-heal? You get a huge smile on your face and you scream a battle-cry at the computer and get way too involved in the game and it’s fabulous.
It was a tremendous victory, even if we did lose the battleground. We expressed our pleasure to Hydra, we really hope she got a chance to take the whole thing in. It was great!

haha sry man.. wasn’t callin you out or nothing.. just wondering why the numbers are so low. I mean.. i’ve been in battles that have lasted alot less time and still walked away with more hks and kills.
I play on a pvp server though. Mabye thats whats different? Not sure.. those numbers just seem really low is all.. like total numbers not just yours
I mean.. did alliance walk to the right and horde walked to the left and there was no actual battling going on?
On another note..
How come you don’t pvp brk? From your older posts it sounded like you used to alot.. what changed with BC?
I mean.. even arena 10 matches a week.. 30-45 mins max.. and you get a new epic every month..
With all your knowledge it would be fun to go up against someone like you I would think.
(yah.. reread the post i made again.. yours as in your battlegroup not yours as in BRK. sry.. should have cleared that up a bit more.)
AV in Emberstorm is sadly a joke. :/
If you ever wanna run w/ a roog from one of said joke servers, holler.M
I’ve done the PvE to death with my 70 mage and rolled a Hunter for the PvP. (Did the PvP dance with the mage also but was borde with teh constant mana, “make water!” and “gief portal plx!!!11″.) So far, at level 48 and BM specced, I’ve been on the top 3 in almost every WSG or AB. I love PvP and wouldn’t dream of playing on a PvE server. Only problem I have is with Warriors and Rogues if BW and/or Intimidation is on cooldown. So I can’t wait for level 61 when I can have both Bestial Wrath and Scatter Shot. /drool

I was just wondering how did that Vanquished guy have 7 killingblows and only 5 honorable kills?
You know, johan, we saw that too. No idea, not a clue.
@Johan
Perhaps after you die you still get credited with blow but not the HK? Other then that I scream HAX!!!
I have in a few of my BG games had a good healer that sorta hung with me. Those moments are pure greatness when you know you can DPS and not worry about health. Oh you ally folks want to focus fire the orc..
BRING. IT. ON.
I love seeing Green +numbers rolling up my screen. It means unless something bad(tm)happens, I am good for the long haul.
Oh and BRK, I am in Emberstorm too. One Day I want to go dwarf vs. orc and see who kitty is redder. (tosses gauntlet)
“I was just wondering how did that Vanquished guy have 7 killingblows and only 5 honorable kills?”
If a level 70 kills a level 61 is that considered an honorable kill?
Well based on what BRK said ‘This guy did the same thing, over and over, trying to sacrifice himself and dot the entire alliance advance.’
If the lock’s DoT kills you, he still gets credit for the KB, but since he’s not ‘in range’ he won’t get an honorable kill for it.

Bah… I meant to say ‘If the lock/priest/etc dies and their DoTs kill you, he/she still gets credit for the KB, but since he/she’s not ‘in range’ they won’t get an honorable kill for it.’
