We Should Be Done
This completes the set, thank Elune. Now we can make some money again. With this piece of gear completed, our ability to craft leatherworking stuff is on an as-needed basis. No more set-pieces, no more epic boots, that’s it. Phew.
By itself this isn’t the bees-knees compared to the Stalker’s War Bands that drop from Attumen. However, the ebon chest is awesome and the belt is spiffy. While the bracers could be considered a down-grade, the bonus to Hit from the three-piece set makes the decision pretty simple.
Loose some mana and RAP in exchange for health, Crit, MP5 and the nice Hit bonus. We said we’d get that back, didn’t we. So we’re Hit-capped again and the feeling is groovy.
Our agility is almost embarrassing low, we must say. But the combination of Hit, DPS, and Crit is Love-R-Ly.
In other news, we ran around with WoWWebStats cooking during our goofing off tonight. Here’s a screenshot of the important data we collected:
We think this is probably the nicest stat-analysis tool we’ve seen. We finally have some definitive data that Hobbes is missing 8.7% of the time against level 70-71 mobs. That’s probably higher against the Kara bosses and even more of an argument for BM hunters to get Animal Handler for the pet-Hit alone.
We slapped the whole shebang on the WWS site, it wasn’t that hard. Here’s the link. You may notice a bizarre combination of mobs we were killing that got recorded. Can you guess which instance we were in?

Er, sorry, hit capped? From the comments in a post this morning, current theory says hit cap is 9% normally (I didn’t do the math for Dwarf gun bonus, using Prince Bow atm), but I think you’re a little short of the cap :(.
Yesterday… er, the day before it was 8.6% for non-weapon-bonus folks and 7.6% for us dwarf-gun-users, (and troll-bow-people). We’re sitting at 7.55% which is close enough for government work.
We will eventually get around to seeing if the New Nine Percent Rule is founded in fact or overly-ripened guacamole hallucinations.
Don’t trust anybody, not even BRK, until you see the math for yourself.
The new math from the kind folks at Elitist Jerks puts it at a 6% hitcap for 355 weapon skill vs. lvl73 boss mobs. You’re way, way over.
355 weapon skill should net you about +2% hit, as i remember from a wowwiki article, which would put it closer to 6.6% than 7.6%, at least.
Also, with a 25% crit rate, Mortal Shots is probably netting you somewhere between 3.6% and 4.2% in damage increase over not having it (pet doing 30%-40% of your total damage).
What’s your pet’s armor, anyway? If it’s 12,000 before Natural Armor, then the max rank of Natural Armor will decrease the damage he takes by 6.63%. The max rank of Natural Stamina gets him 640 more health. 3 points in Catlike Reflexes will reduce the damage he takes by at least 9% assuming he has no natural avoidance, or by more if he has some avoidance. I’d like to see stats on how often mobs’ attacks against your pet miss or are dodged, blocked, or parried.
only 16 steady shots?
dude wtf…
I haven’t seen a miss yet with 100 hit rating at 355 skill. Now, the sample size of vs boss shots that I’ve actually looked at the SWStats results for quite likely isn’t statistically significant. However, the Elitist Jerk testing does show it’s 6% miss at +5 weapon skill vs bosses. (9% base miss rate. That 5th weapon point is a doozy.)
As for what “instance” you were running, those look like Ogri’la and Netherwing mobs (though the undead have me confused — Scholo? Strat?).
“only 16 steady shots?
dude wtf…”
BRK does not believe in steady shots. After reading his reasoning and math behind it I’m in agreement and have seen my DPS go up since dumping the SS. I would like to see BRK update that article though since he said my research was being conducted.
um yer the Eye of Naxxramas is a bit of a giveaway… and looks like some dailies thrown in aswell.
Were you soloing UD Strat?
