The Crappy Poll and Cool Space Exploration
If anybody can hack Blogger’s code and tell us how to change the color of the bars from light blue to something else, we’ll send you BRK Cool Points.
Seriously, blogger, this is cr@p.
There were a lot of ravagers outside of Kara yesterday. A lot more than we expected. There was only one raptor outside of Kara yesterday. A lot fewer than we expected.
We here at the BRK Statistical Analysis and Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Taste-Testing Center were quite amazed that our small sample of observations produced the 3-1 ratio of ravager to raptor pets we saw. Therefore, we’re running this extremely inaccurate poll to see what’s what.
In case you were unaware, we (NASA that is, of course) launched the DAWN probe this morning. It’s heading to the asteroid belt to visit Ceres and Vesta. BRK advocates that if we just quit jacking humans into low-earth orbit like we’ve been doing for the past 50 years, we could afford to start rapid-fire chucking unmanned probes all over the solar system and actually learn something new.

you can edit how the poll works, you just have to know where to look in the CSS files.

thats a link i found with detailed instructions.
points pls.
what are these pets you speak of?
@BRK
I agree, NASA should start gearing for more probe missions. The more we learn, the faster we can send manned missions out farther than the moon. My soon to be father-in-law works for Ad Astra on the plasma engine, which should lead us into the future of space flight.
I love my new owl from Heroic Sethic halls.
I keep criting and he keeps holding agro.
It’s a match made in heaven.
Screach gets nerf’d next, watch.
Hell private companies can get folks in low orbit..of sorts. We need to be on the moon, figuring out ways to get farther. Of course, when we do that we run into Bugs (starship troopers) Big nasty acid spitting aliens (alien and aliens) and other big bad nasty folks.
@BRK
The Space Cynics really hit the nail on the head sometimes with their assessment of all things space. Safe to say, manned space flight is not high on the agenda.
The question answers and poll results can’t be modified in the css.

That little piece of code is pulled from a location other than the template.
Human exploration comes down to two things for me. 1) Under any optimistic scenario, we’re going to have to send people off this planet eventually. And I’m not talking about 5 billion years from now when the sun goes red giant on us. 2) Given this, it is best to keep working on human space flight now. There’s been enough of a brain drain in the industry from the Apollo/Shuttle days, if we don’t continue to push for manned exploration we’re going to lose the capability completely. I think it’s stupid to set ourselves up to have to start completely from scratch when the need for getting humans off this rock becomes more acute.
I like the idea of the poll, but there are no entries for those of us who already have a Ravager. I picked one up when I was 70 and he was 63, and had to painfully level him those 7 levels just to hold agro.
Yes, he’s ugly, but he gets the job done, and that’s what’s important. I haven’t done any statistical analysis on his DPS against my cat, (I will never give him up, but he’s been stabled for a long time), but the gore ability does average more DPS than claw.
Raptor… meh - I’ll have to look and see what I think.
Or at the very least stop putting them (humans) into low earth orbit and start plopping them (gently) onto other celestial bodies (Mars, Moon). Ya’ll (NASA) need public support (read: make space cool again so people will elect the spineless slobs - oops i meant politicians - that support NASA in congress again. R.I.P. LBJ) to get more funding to get more unmanned probes.
As Gus said in the right stuff: “No bucks, no Buck Rodgers”.
Dunno if you saw the research on the solmenalla (sp?) virus mutating in space BRK, that pretty much puts manned pace travel on hold, I mean comon that virus can’t seem to be eradicated form our kitchens much less if the bug gets loose on a shuttle/manned long range craft. But on a serious note I too want more data from farther away, but a lot depends on greed. It’s why i think so much is being toted about Mars and the possible mineral exploitation there.
Thoughts?
