Gonna Be Quiet Here For a While
We have our Gruul raid tonight, tomorrow is working with WoW Insider to possibly get the Moroes movie over there for mass-distribution, and Wednesday we have to be at work at 1:00AM for a very-early morning launch. Thursday will probably be spent abed. Friday is back to Karazhan.
All in all, quite the busy little bee we shall be.
“Dear BRK … how do you get WWS reports to add your pet’s dps properly? … Modrak.”
You know, we should do a post on how to run WoWWebStats, with screenshots and all the trimmings. We’re putting that on the BRK To Do List.
“Dear BRK, how do I tell someone in our raid group how to be a better hunter not the huntard that they are. Killall”
Always remember: One cannot shove enlightenment into a black hole.
But if a 43 year old Vinnie Testaverde can lead the Panthers to a victory having only been on their team for five days, anything is possible.
If you are of some position of authority in your guild, you can “insist” they perform in a certain manner lest they be gkicked, but that’s the Stick approach. Most people respond better to the Carrot.
You need to give them something nice, something small, something to whet their appetite to learn the Hunter Way. Teach them a Feed Pet Macro:
#show Clefthoof Ribs
/cast Feed Pet
/use Clefthoof Ribs
With one button you feed your pet the proper food, but it also shows how many ribs you have in your bags. Simple yet very handy, they should be intrigued. Then you hit them with more goodies, or even, “You know, there’s a hunter blog out there I’ve read that I think you’d really like,” and send them our way.
There’s a nice community of smart and helpful hunters here who can tackle just about any subject with decorum and a smile. Even huntard-conversions.

Dang, what I am going to do at work now?
Awwww BRK called us all smart and helpful!!
Now quickly while he’s giddy tease about a certain warlock’s pet hobbes project!
Just kidding BRK!
Why use Clefthoof Ribs when you can use Smoked Talbuk Venison. Same amount of happy for less gold.

“Gonna Be Quiet Here For a While”
- Thank You Very Much! Now I can get some work done!
GL on your tasks. BTW, are you going to try beating on one of those unkillable mobs to compare both TP choices? Just curious!
Dude, it’s not launching is rocket science or nothing..sheesh!
My pet gets fish! I got fish coming out the wazzoo courtesy of leveling the fishing skill: so far 372…
When I’m viewing some post, someone said there are activity of blizzard, and send your account name and password to his mailbox. Attention, he will steal your account. The real activity for free gold doesn’t need your account or password, only your realm and character name. I know some gold selling site who is the real free gold, they don’t need any account and password, such as http://www.vivogame.com . Everyone should buck your ideas up, don’t tell your account name and password to anyone. Lol…
Hello, I’m freshman.
Hello all~ ? D long time lurker,~
I’ve only been playing Warcraft for about a month now, (10 day trial plus 15+ days into my first subscribed month) I tried the free 10 day trial first and instantly fell in love with the game. The Druid was the first class I’ve ever tried, and seeing all the things they can do seriously pumped me up to try and get my Tauren to lv 70. And I find the gold is so hard to make, I only get free 100 gold at http://www.vivogame.com , I don’t know should I buy some gold with real money? Hmm, it’s no time to farm gold…. What’s your opinion?
I have two characters on wow, btw, (not a US member) :
And you can leave your realm and character name here, lol.
Nice to meet you all~
BRK Bad comparison about the panthers winning. One they were Playing the Cardinals and they suck. Two the Cards are in the same boat they have Tim Rattay who was cleaning pools for the last two years or something. Just thought you should know that.
Hey BRK, gold sellers are faking comments in your blog
You must be very important!
Too much video… too little hunter posts… yay.
1. Never doubt the Vinnie T. mojo. He grew up in Franklin Square, Long Island, just a quick ride on the LIRR from our spawning point, Oyster Bay. We shall countenance no VT Mojo-Denials here.
Yes the Cardinals have QB problems too, but Vinnnie rode into Carolina on Wednesday, went through three practices, started the game on Sunday and they won. He’s 43. He won the Heisman the same year many of the players on the Panthers were born. All hail Vinnie T. if just for this week.
2)That viv0game.c0m stuff is gold sellers? We dislike moderating comments but we want to delete those. We’re gonna make a poll and ask your opinion on that.
BRK, I quite like your policy of not moderating comments, but I don’t really think gold seller spam qualifies as a valid comment…
Those are definitely gold seller spam. I’m not sure if you can somehow ban the IP address (or addresses) as well.
We look forward to having you back? I guess I need to actually get some work done. *sigh*
That should have been “We look forward to having you back!”. My bad!
This is a hunter blog. The readers could sell gold to the gold sellers…
Yet there are just two people almost in a row linking the same goldseller website. Still better than doubtful job-offers or links to naked flesh some bots drop off at guild forums.
I just hope they won’t abuse the time you will be absent and unable to keep this house clean
Damn gold spammers: as if it was not enough to spam in-game! And they’re so dumb they don’t realize they would get far less reports if they didn’t spam a dozen lines of text at once! I could let go a /s line every now or then, but when they spam and make the whole text disappear, especially if I was just advertising something in trade channel only to see it gone, then I instantly report those b@stards…
Of course, the real issue is that Blizzard Management doesn’t feel like killing a couple million farming accounts: after all, they do pay their fees monthly, so why should they? They only go on a cancel spree every now and then killing a couple hundred accounts just to pretend they’re doing something…
Ban goldspamers ftw BRK!
I was quite board last night, so I decided to (FINALLY!) implement several of your recommended Macros. Like another poster, I too like to pull with distracting then concussive, but I was unable to get a single macro to do both. So I ended up with two seperate macros:
/cast Distracting Shot
/stopcasting
/cast Concussive Shot
/stopcasting
Now, this is great to hit one, then hit the other when the global cooldown is done. However, during the course of the fight, I like to hit a recently de-frosted mob with a second Concussive Shot while he/she/it is on the way to my second trap. Since I was in battle, for some reason I continued auto shooting. So I modified these two macros in the following way:
/stopcasting
/cast Distracting Shot
/stopcasting
And the same for Concussive Shot. These seem to work great!!

gold sellers are only bad if you buy!
*ahem*

Hey BRK,
GLK with the launch, used to love watchin’ those night launch from the Big O. Vinnie did do ok while he was at Tampa (oh, let me get my ole Bucaneers brown paper bag out, gosh that was a long time ago). As we do get older and wiser so did Vinnie. Gratz to the Panthers.
Sorry about the smear last Saturday (UCF v. USF) all I can say is GO BULLS! BSC in Jan.
and yes Maggie does get a ton of Clefthoof Ribs she’s worth every silver coin of it. Now where is that poopper scooper? Watch your step:).
Galor and MaggieMay
You were born in Oyster Bay huh? I’m from Massapequa. Small world.
Anyways as a Jets fan I have a special place in my heart for Vinnie T…but im not sure if its a good place or a bad place….
Actually one of my good friends is friends with Vinnie’s nephew or cousin or something - pretty sad actually…the kid is paralyzed from the waist down and is confined to a wheelchair.
The only caveat to keeping a gold spammers post is that those who come after the post has been removed have no idea to what the other posts refer. Plus, since you already labeled us “helpful”, we can point out that this is obviously a gold spammer to anyone who will listen.
I’d like to know how others “help” the other hunter(s) in their guilds who are, shall we say, less creative with their characters. How do you gently lead a hunter who has no concept of chain trapping into the light? Example and having others say, “Wow, some fancy work there by our dwarf hunter!” isn’t working.
GL with the launch. I’m of the age that remembers when every launch was cause for school to stop and we’d gather around a TV set to watch.
And, when you come back to earth (clearly pun intended), I’d like to see the occasional “Oops” movie. How does BRK handle bungled pulls or more ads than planned or someone in the group dies way too early or, yes, even a wipe. The successful movies are good for teaching (Damn, LOS. D’oh. Why didn’t I think of that?), but sometimes we learn better when we can see what went wrong and fashion ideas on how not to do that.
Ha! I grew up in Port Jeff!
Now if they can only take Lawrence Taylor out of retirement too!
After many, many months of trolling BRK, I finally have what I think is a BRK worthy comment.
Was doing the Boggok boss in burning soemthing or other last night (only 64) and my group wiped (except for me) with 2 mobs left before Boggok came at us. I trapped one then killed the other. Now here’s the fun part.
If I killed the last mob, Boggok would come out which would reset the entire event, except with Boggok being part of it this time (its bugged) which would most likely cause many many wipes until the group broke up (which happened to me the previous 2 nights).
So not wanting to solo the boss or cause huge repair bills to my non-FD’n group members, I decided to chain-trap that last mob until the group returned. Little did I know it would take over 20 minutes:
1)Healer had to log to get dressed, rather disturbing to think he was some middle-aged dude playing WoW nekked.
2)1 member died to a respawn on his return trip.
3)Another member died to the same respawn trying to go back and help the first guy.
4)We invited another healer to the group who had to fly from Shatt to get to us.
5)Everyone finally arrived and we killed the chain-trapped mob, then Boggok.
Would it ever have crossed my mind to chain-trap that mob for 20 minutes without the amazing insight of BRK? Probably, but I’m sure you deserve some sort of credit for it!
that’s the spirit umer!
Hi BRK,
I find your page excellent for hunters. I had in fact given up on my hunter (lvl 70 NE). But your blog gave him a new lease of Life.
Now , just for kicks, I have started lvling up an Orc hunter, as I hardly have time for end game instances right now.
The one decision which still makes me go all cross eyed is - what professions to take ? I know its suggested using gathering professions at low lvl, but I am looking at the high lvl professions. I was thinking Engineering, but I would like to get your opinion on it also.
