OK? Ok.

“Though he DID kill me in Kara last weekend. Seriously.”

We killed TJ. Totally. We didn’t just kill her, we basically wasted 0.04 of a second when we were given the slightest opportunity to kill her before we did. We were efficient, we were. Lethal.

Stupid? Oh yes. On a scale rivaling the OJ jurors, New Coke, and fury warriors thinking they belong in the Gruul “DPS Party”, we were stupid. Stupid, but efficiently lethal.

Our raid just finished Prince. It wasn’t an easy kill as four infernals landed right on top of the tank. We started Prince being tanked - if the door is in the southeast corner - in the northeast corner. Infernal drops on the tank, the tank moves Prince to the door, the rest of the raid backs up along the south wall. Infernal lands on the tank. Tank moves Prince across the southern wall, raid moves into the southwest corner. Infernal lands on the tank. Tank moves Prince almost to the southwest corner, raid moves screaming and cursing along the west wall. Infernal lands on the tank. Tank moves Prince halfway up the west wall and we complain so bitterly and colorfully - especially the Squeekie Priestie - that Prince cried “OK, sheesh” and died. A hellish Prince run, just a PITA. We were all frustrated and tired.

The next boss on the list was Nightbane and we were going to run down to the terrace from the top of the circular stairs from Prince when TJ asked when we were taking a break. We have developed a sixth sense of when TJ needs a timeout from raid-excitement and we could tell she needed a break immediately. We offered to let her “follow” us and we’d run her to Nightbane. She put herself on follow and said,

“Don’t drop meh.”

Before we could say, “I’d never drop yeh” we made a wrong turn on the stairs and went in one of the off-rooms that you’re never supposed to go in. Wham, aggro meter registers and we just body-pulled an elite trash mob. Thinking quickly, we run back on the the stairs and Feign Death.

Woohoo! Out of combat!

WHAM!!

TJ was still on follow, had “followed” us into the alcove, and when we FD’d…

We call it Dumping Aggro on a Squishy and we admonish hunters to never do that. Well, we do’d it. With a vengeance. That mob smashed TJ so hard her minions laughed. So hard her wardrobe took 10 seconds to reattach. So hard that she screamed in raid-chat,

“BRK YOU AS$HOL3 YOU KILLED ME!!”

And all we could reply was,

“Swear to god, it wasn’t on purpose. But it was so funny I wish I had.”

Oh, and after swatting TJ into oblivion we just happened to be close enough to that “fight” that we body-pulled that same mob again and, since our FD was on cooldown, we died too.

Hunters, it may be fun to misdirect onto your priests, but DO NOT body-pull elite trash mobs and dump their aggro on bio-break-desperate warlocks. It’s just not the done thing.

Barely related, I find that a Gnomish Cloaking Device is the perfect solution to the latter feigns that have you too close to pop up without re-aggroing a boss or a group of mobs, as you can activate it successfully and stealth out of there before the mobs notice. ;P

For the sake of historical accuracy:

Squeaky Priest on Vent: Whoa, what happened to TJ?
TJ in Raid Chat: BRK YOU BITCH

Wooh boy, I think hobbes might need a line cut - it’s pretty warm where you’re goin’

Having done the same thing in Kara on my rogue with a guildie tagging along behind me, I can sympathize with TJ. My guildie was equally upset when I agroed and then Vanished….

  6. Zball on October 23rd, 2007 7:13 pm

That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard today.

  7. Anonymous on October 23rd, 2007 7:17 pm

On a positive note, you got Discovery in the air.

  9. Hrrathul on October 23rd, 2007 7:44 pm

I agree BRK that was a horrible thing to do. Next time go to the top of some stairs jump off and activate your Skyguard’s Drape.

That’s the thing with that wintersaber rep. Too much time alone in that frozen terrain. Too much time inside your own head. Too much time to ‘think’. The mission was doomed to fail, and I think BRK knew this.

  12. Thomas on October 23rd, 2007 8:20 pm

    I probably shouldn’t, but …

    Hey TJ, http://www.youfail.org/

  13. DanW on October 23rd, 2007 8:53 pm

On the contrary, I think TJ won…

@BRK: I’ve said it in TJ’s blog, but will repeat it here!

For me, and I think for many others, you’ll forever be a looser if you insist on the dollar back: that should never have been on the table and was just a lame thing to do.

In fact, one may even argue about your fair-play pushing TJ into a bet and then also helping on something that you surely knew would mess her up.

Helping TJ go to Kara is all fine and well, but, when we add the “gimme my dollar back” and the help to go to Kara when she should be elsewhere… Well, in RL that would be a conflict of interest for sure…

  15. Patrick on October 24th, 2007 1:28 am

Conflict of interest doesn’t apply in double dog dares!

  16. SeaBrat on October 24th, 2007 3:51 am

Not a conflict of interest, and definitely not a loser (BRK).

I seriously doubt anyone can push TJ into anything.

Props to BRK and TJ knows the only honorable thing to do is return the dollar to BRK…after a short vist with TJ’s sister.

Oh the topic of killing a raid….

I had gone afk for a few minutes and when i got back i was told over vent (note the didnt know i was back) lets get gray killed. Well the person that said this was the GL/RL and our main healer. Well lets just say i got him killed then every one followed as i just FD’ed right there.

He was preaty up set but you could tell everyone eles was having a great laugh when i pointed out that what really happend :)

omfg, that is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time… thanks for sharing!

  19. Onionpeels on October 24th, 2007 3:33 pm

That’ll teach her to hold her bladder and save herself.

  20. Hedus on October 24th, 2007 3:36 pm

I think it’s just fine to involve the dollar in the current bet, assuming that there will be opportunities for TJ to win it back in the future. It’s like when two rival schools play for some trophy that otherwise has little value or purpose. The current winner gets the privilege of holding it and rub it in the nose of the current loser :). I’m sure there will be more bets, and that TJ has not seen the last of the dollar.

What I take out of all of this is an example of what a guild can do to make every member feel accepted and welcomed. Bet or no bet, TJ is in wonderful, caring hands. She thinks she’s not giving anything back to them, but she is. If she wasn’t contributing in any way, she wouldn’t be there, help or no help.
Too often we expect people to play their chars exactly how we would play them; process information perfectly; know when to move and what to do in any given situation. You may know the Prince fight inside and out because you’ve been here 183 times before, but having to spell out what is to happen and what people need to do is as necessary for you as it is for Ms. Squishy who is on her virgin run. And I suspect having to explain to TJ where to go and what to do is as helpful to the veterans as it is to her. They just won’t admit, “Oh yeah, blue box THEN the nipple which the pets are tanking.”
And I swear, on a stack of sporeling snacks, I have never on purpose dumped aggro onto a guild squishy. A non-guild squishy who thought they were Illidian’s gift to Outlands, yes, but never a guild squishy, but the thought is tempting for the laugh.

I wholeheartedly support any TJ killing activity. I’ve had her on follow running into MC. I didn’t think about it and jumped down into the lava. She would not follow me on to the ramp. I got to spend all of MC without a Healthstone for that one.

    @btg
correct me if im wrong, and i may be, but i thought game mechanics prevented someone from following someone else off of a cliff.

  24. Ratshag on October 24th, 2007 5:27 pm

TJ says we should let her friends know what damn fine friends they is, and I agrees.

BRK, you’s a damn fine friend.

    Despite getting her killed.

  25. Anonymous on October 24th, 2007 8:05 pm

BRK… I don’t think that asking for the original dollar back is completely unfair!!! You’re taking back what you lost! When a country loses a war they have to give back the territory and the prisoners that they took! Why should this be any different?!?! You have won, and your territory (dollar) should be returned!

BRK, I thought I can only get random posts from TJ’s blog (TJ, I love your blog). I do miss raiding.
