Our Adieu to WoW Insider
This week’s column, which I may or may not be able to get done today due to my work schedule, is going to be my last.
With my new job – I got a new job without changing companies – time just isn’t on my side do to everything there is I want to do and give it the attention it deserves. I could continue to do WoW Insider columns and not give them the work they require, but that would not be good for my self-esteem, WoW Insider readers, or all of you.
I want to specifically thank Mike and Elizabeth for hiring me and working with me to make BigRedKitty on WoW Insider as much fun as it has been. You folks are wonderful and I very much appreciate all you’ve done.
Thank you, Good Luck, and I’m going to miss this terribly.
Daniel
aka
BigRedKitty
Edit: Just to clarify, this blog isn’t going anywhere. As you may have noticed, the number of multiple-posts per day are dwindling. But the existance of this happy hunter haven isn’t in danger.

We’ll always have this blog. Right?
Doomilias on 24 Oct 2007 at 4:55 pm #
i remember a while back you posted about wanting to go back to school and doing some other things that might actually take you away from WoW and blogging in general.
any updates on that stuff?
Taradin & Escamoso on 24 Oct 2007 at 5:13 pm #
Hahahah, nice joke.
Or you’re serious? If that’s the truth, please keep your blog… It has changed my hunter life, and keeps amusing me everyday.
Shifttusk on 24 Oct 2007 at 5:15 pm #

If the blog goes silent where am I going to post great comments like:
“@shift
“Only if he dresses sexy? Lewl!”
…Just when I thought you couldn’t get any dumber, you go and do something like this… and totally redeem yourself!!!…

BRK,
I will miss the WOWInsider blogs and I fully understand seeing a time crunch occur. It looks like next summer I’ll be trying to get into grad school to get my MBA. I can see my WOW time fade to black once that happens. And I am single, so having a family takes a ton of time.
Thomas on 24 Oct 2007 at 7:07 pm #
Please do keep the BRK blog going as time allows you to. With the video tutorials and all it was really getting me exited about hunter again.
I’d understand since I too have a family with 2 youngens and a very full-time job, but I sure hope you keep it up. You’re antics and character make so many of my days go by just that much better.
Please blog when you can. I would really miss seeing the insights and tactics you show us all so often.

Yay!! for continued blogage…
I am happy you were on Wowinsider for a bit, so I found the blog.
Anonymous on 24 Oct 2007 at 7:59 pm #
I’m sorry to see you leaving WOWInsider. It was an article of yours that introduced me to that site and to your blog here.
I hope you keep up the excellent blog, consider it a steam valve for the pressures of your life!
Dagashai on 24 Oct 2007 at 8:21 pm #
It’s cuz you won that damn bet with TJ, isn’t it?
Then you go ahead and just kill her, now you’re leaving the internet a step ahead of CSI-Ironforge and the coppers.
Just like a dwarf to quit while ahead!
Alan on 24 Oct 2007 at 8:37 pm #
NOES!
Well, I’d rather read your stuff here, anyway. Though I will miss the trolls.
I’m sure there are other articles that are good for that.
Just be sure to never let this blog go down. I refer ALL of my hunter/lesser class guildies to this site to learn more about us, so thanks!

I’m happy to have found your writing & blog about 6-8 weeks ago. Your material has been extremely helpful as I leveled my hunter from around 24 - 56. I look forward to getting to outlands and 70. My main is a 70 Priest which is doing the same material you are with your guild. But my joy is my BM hunter with my little red kitty.
Thanks for all your guidance. I look forward to reading your material here, which is where I usually read it anyway

I’m glad this Hunter blog isn’t going anywhere. Whoa, I was really worried.

cool,
some of the clowns from wowinsider who feel the *need* to express themselves here kinda suck.

What are all those poor trolls going to do now?
Seriously, gz on the new job, we’ll keep reading the blog (I always liked it more than the WI columns, anyway).

Keep going with your great blog

You better not go anywhere, BRK. You’re my favorite hunter in the world… of warcraft!
Someone on 25 Oct 2007 at 11:32 am #
Well, I guess it was either WI, this blog or WoW altogether, so that’s a good call! As for me, I only went reading something on WI when you made a special post about something there, so no big loss for me!
Also, your fewer posts is kind of a gift too: now I can get more work done!
Mudge on 25 Oct 2007 at 11:55 am #
I hope your columns on WI will still be available … I frequently refer back to them and would hate for them to disappear. Keep posting here as often as you can and keep making movies.
What’s your new job? More Rocket Science?

I am very much a latecomer to this blog, having discovered it in the last 2 weeks, but i can safely say it is firstly one of the best-written blogs i have seen.
On top of that it has been of enormous benefit to my hunter main on ghostlands EU.
Finally, it has been the most entertaining bog i have come across too, regularly leaving me and y housemates in roars of laughter!
Please dont stop (I know this will fall on deaf ears, but still, its nice to have someone say it to you).
Really finally…. thanks for the entertainment and information!!

Just promise us that when you’re actually on Mars you’ll still find a way to play WoW and post blog entries.
That’s why you’re busy, right? Training for the mission?
Spiffyhunter on 25 Oct 2007 at 12:56 pm #
All the best to you and your family
I am glad to hear that the blog will still be here for help. I ran my first run with my new guild and felt like I contributed and a great measure of the credit for that is due to you.
To get compliments like “You are a Hunter and not a Huntard” are nice and I can’t wait to see you sometime on Drenden (just not with my Flag up lol).
Good times,
Mike aka Spiffyhunter

Whew! Glad that you’ll be continuing this excellent hunter reference and entertaining blog. I mainly play a rogue, and we have a wealth of organized information about our class. Your site is one of the more well-organized hunter references that I’ve found so far.
And TJ? Patch 2.3 is coming soon, you’ll get that Hobbes mount yet!

No, I’m gonna miss one of the best columns on WoW Insider.
Good luck with your job, we’ll all remember you!

I agree with Mudge. BRK, can you archive your WI articles here on your blog? I’d hate to see them get lost. I think WI just lost their last smidgen of credibility today. =P

Thank god. Now I might be able to read WI without seeing the most moronic hunter posts ever.
Anonymous on 01 Nov 2007 at 12:29 am #
@ “moronic hunter” commenter
I guess it takes one to know one.
The fact you hate him, and chased him down to here to post about him means you made a personal issue public, which is simply immoral.
Bigotry is a diseases these days.
Anonymous on 02 Nov 2007 at 3:45 am #
It’s a personal issue that many hunters that have read BRKs WoWInsider posts have complained that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about?
I didn’t chase him down here. A hunter from his guild posted something in the hunter forums, and I went following links. It seems nearly his entire guild has a huge hardon for getting attention over the internets.
PS: Real maturity shines when you say, “Takes one to know one.”
Anonymous on 02 Nov 2007 at 3:48 am #
BTW, look at even his spec, and you’ll be able to tell he’s a joke that shouldn’t be telling other hunters how to play.
Anonymous on 02 Nov 2007 at 4:56 am #
Lol I’m a believer in Confucius’s philosophy “look into your selves when you see flaws in others”, I don’t know.
I guess if you are assuming the role of ’spokesperson of all hunters (a universal quantifier)’ then, I suppose, you should consider engaging a more objective stance. i.e. restrain from words such as ‘joke’ and ‘hardon’ and stop making reference to other hunters as there shouldn’t be ‘others’ from your point of view.
If not the point of view, then I find your aggression unnecessary, its just too emotional to be persuasive.

I said many, not all hunters. Read through the commenters on his BRK posts on WI.
Also, sure. I’ll look into myself. Hmmm… Survival hunter with 900 agi, and maintaining 2nd place DPS through SSC/TK. There is nothing wrong with my rotation *minus human lag* and there is nothing wrong with my spec.
Nope, can’t really find any major flaws.
