We’ll Leave a Lesson Plan

BRK » 26 October 2007 » In Blog, Raids »

Friday. Moroes, Opera, Curator, Aran, and Prince. Our dates for this evening are set. Barring unforeseen noobishness, we should be done in under four hours. While the Prince DPS-ring would be nice, we’re not drooling over it. Our T4 helm would be spiffy, but our Aran-drop helm - this hideous thing - is basically an equivalent and we’re quite happy with it. We’ve twice passed on the Sunfury bow; we love our gun and the bow isn’t really an Upgrade with a capital-U.

We shall get no gear tonight.

So why go? Why put up with the hassle? Obviously we want to help get the guild geared, but also because we are trying to coax the raid in the direction of our new leggings. The one thing we really, really want are either our T4 leggings from Gruul or the Rip Flayer Leggings from Netherspite. We want our raid to take Netherspite again; we’ve only done that boss one time. Shoot, we’ve taken Gruul twice! We’ve done Illhoof and Nightbane many, many times. Now we want Netherspite and the small chance he’ll drop a piece of gear, really the only piece of kara gear, we can use.

We’ve mentioned how our guild has 100,00 druids. Well, they want Illhoof and the staff he drops. The plate-wearers have all gotten their uber-shields from Nightbane, so maybe we can quit doing that boss for a while. We have three raiding hunters and we would love Netherspite.

Can a hunter get some love? Netherspite, please?

Sunday through Tuesday we have company. No WoW, no blogging, no nuttin. We may - notice we said may - hire a Substitute Blogger. Maybe even let a lesser class have their way with this space.

Maybe even let a non-WoWer write something about how she hates WoW. We know just the person…

    BRK,

As RL intrudes more, it’s really time for BRK hunter forums. Just as maintankadin does for prot pallys, there is a need for hunter forums.

Anyone have the hardware to setup some forums online?..

Love the column — great info and great attitude ;-)
Good luck with what we call a Tier 4 run tonight — regarding gear; yes the ring of 1k marks is a nice slight upgrade to your Ravenclaw, but to say that the Demon Stalker helm is equivalent to the Steelspine makes this hunter cringe — it is one rockin’ helm especially with the spiffy Relentless meta gem — that’s your biggest upgrade imo — get it above all else. Hell the Stalker’s Helm is better than the Steelspine.
Also with you winning the Saberclaw neck and Legacy lately, you’ve lost a lot of hit — which won’t affect you just yet, but come 2.3 when Dwarves lose the 3% hit from their racial, you might think about keeping the Sonic Spear, and Worgen Claw neck around…
    Keep up the pew pew.

After the recent BigBadWolf video debacle you’d think he’d want both pieces of Demon Stalker… ;-p

On a side note my hunter whose been BM since day 1 (and has benefited from this blog a ton) is happily tearing through quests now that he hit 70 and raking in the big bucks. I went with the 40-21-0 spec thinking that I’d want scatter shot while soloing to keep mobs from healing, but I really haven’t been using it much so I think I’ll switch to 41-20-0 whenever I next respec to get that second point in pet hit for Kara and TBW. Not that I will get much Kara time on my hunter since my main is always needed to tank, but still best to be prepared. :)

What part of Spite do you guys have trouble with?

    @BRK
just do gruul and get the DST …still hasn’t dropped for me … arrrggggg ..the guild is starting to not do it, omg if i have to pug it …

i know ur gun racial is what makes u stay with the gun but i encourage u to take the bow and go to DR. Boom and try it for urself …. u will be surprised. i even took the arcanite steam pistol and after lengthy testing, it came in at average 6.6% higher dps than the bow(i’m troll) ……
i know, i know, all the EJ trolls(including myself) know all the theorycrafting and there’s no way i should have took it but damn man, i need all the edge i can get to stay ahead of those damn mages, locks and SP’s.
besides, whats dkp for anyway …. lol

Mrs BRK writing about 80’s bad movies, personally I can’t wait.

  16. Felandra on October 27th, 2007 1:41 pm

BRK, you seriously should roll on the Sunfury next time.

You will lose your great bonus to gun next patch and get a ‘lousy’ 1% crit to replace it. At that time the Sunfury will be a much better choice than your gun. But of course, currently it can do the stuff.

Just, think of the future as well. And since your gun is more or less the best gun there is to be gotten with any reason, it is time to get a bow.

  17. Felandra on October 28th, 2007 12:37 am

Oh, and I completely forgot the ned Adamantite headed arrows that Engineers can make.

Combined I think there will be plenty reason for the rest of us to see a bowtooting BRK :D

  18. Jacemora on October 30th, 2007 2:50 pm

BRK, I want Netherspite just as much and so should the other druids. Skulkers Greaves are the #1 DPS pants until later raids and better than T4 for us. Aside from still needing my T4 gloves from Curator I am ready to just do Illhoof, Netherspite, Curator, and sadly Attumen for my gloves that have still not fallen for me.

Don’t you also want to get the Fiend Slayer Boots from the Chess event?

Socketed with a Delicate Living Ruby & Shifting Nightseye you get:

    41 Agility
    30 Stamina
    16 Intellect
    17 Hit
    34 AP

As opposed to Boots of the Crimson Hawk:

    28 Agility
    28 Stamina
    27 Intellect
    19 Critical Strike
    58 AP

    Curious to know your thoughts.

According to Cheeky’s spreadsheet — Crimson Hawk > Fiend Slayer — I wear mine over the FSB too. Can’t see me upgrading them either…even with new 2.3 heroic rewards.
