Addons Again

BRK » 02 November 2007 » In Addons, Screenshot » 16 Comments

We are rebuilding the BRK Addons lists at this time, please stand by.

Now just what Fu’s do we use? There ya go. Now, as for keeping them updated, WoWAce has an updater program that will do that so you don’t have to manually update them yourself. But it’s no good for Macs! What do we do?

We get MacAceUpdater and celebrate. If you’re good, you also send Mr. Smith some payola; the icon is terrible and he needs to get a pro to fix that thing, (we like the swiss army knife.)

Edit: Realized last night that with the change from Titan Panel we lost map coordinates. Enter Map Coordinates and FuBar_LocationFu.

It would also be cool to see some screenshots of you in action (all the bars and numbers lighting up).
    :-)

It looks really good. Clean with minimal redundant information.

Doesn’t look bad, minus the fact that I hate cyCircled.

I like to shrink the Combat Monitor to its smallest scale then lock it in just over my toons head and fade it just a bit. Works great for me.

Welcome to the dark side ;-)

Some other Fus I can’t seem to do without:

GarbageFu … throws away the least expensive grey item (or sells all of them at the vendor with one mouseclick)

ToFo … collects Flightpoint-Information for Cartographer, displays estimated flight times

    cheers,

Another auto-updater you may find of interest is at http://wuu.vagabonds.info/ . It’s not as spiffy looking as some of the others but functionally it’s great, as it isn’t restricted to WoWAce addons.

Also, I’m helping the developer make it look spiffier and work better, so take that as a disclaimer :)

I know that you’re big on the use of threatmeters to provide sustained-range-dps to the utmost capacity, and they can be very useful for that.

Do you have an opinion on whether or not threat management is a core-ability of all DPS classes, hunters included?

  7. Wrynt on November 3rd, 2007 4:46 pm

Of course it is, ed! The sole job of a tank is to get beaten on mercilessly, and anything we as dps-ers can do to make that easier (ala misdirection, manna from heaven as far as tanks are concerned) we are obligated to do so. That being said, knowing when to back off the dps or drop a FD to wipe the aggro slate clean is definitely a core-ability of any GOOD dpser. Anybody with a class that is designed to do damage should be able to accomplish that, but a large part of your responsibility is not to make life harder for the rest of the group (or ending up dead!) by pulling the mob. Having addons to help you accomplish this is optional, although I don’t know any other more efficient way. But “threat management”? You better believe that’s a dps-ers job. ^_^

Instead of Atlas/Map_Coordinates and Fubar_Locationfu, you should just try out Cartographer.. which is a featured mod on Wowinsider too.

Cartographer, like the Fubar series of mod, is an ace2 mod and available from wowace. Way better than Atlas IMO.

    You’ve got a massive screen…

Loving the FuBar, just getting started with some of the others. Sadly, MacAceUpdater isn’t Leopard-ready yet, but I’m sure it will be soon. Right???!?

It would be nice to be able to position the AmmoFu module directly underneath the ammo bag on the bar, instead of having them all cluster together. Less eye movement that way.

If you check the read me then you’ll see that you need to set your wow path, it’s usually /Applications/World of Warcraft on mac.
I use following config with good results
    No externals 1
    Clean up addon folders 1
    Split addons… 1
Alson update if only … 1
    delete before updating.. 1
    Show changelog 0
    Automatic embeds .. 1
    Autoupdate JWowUpdater 1
    rest is off

@cliff, never mind I just updated cartographer and it hosed my install. Turn it off, everything is fine.

From the bottom of my dwarven boots, thanks for steering me to FuBar. I’m new to this whole add-on thing but, as my endgame instance appearance becomes more frequent, I need to have some things. Right now, bag slots, pet info, threat meter, party damage meter, hunter spell timer and repair notice are loaded. My GL says I need to get Atlas Loot and a Deadly Boss Mod. I have Ammo loaded but I can’t figure out how to make it display. No, I haven’t done the “What does this do?” test yet.
I’m not upgrading, atm, to Leopard because it doesn’t work with Vent yet. Maybe after the first of the year.
Is there a mod that tells me when Halaa is owned by the Alliance so I can quick run there and get bullets?
