Mountain Parka, OMG Yes

BRK » 03 November 2007 » In WoWInsider »

A quick BRK on WoW Insider post tonight! Woohoo!

Of course, one really shouldn’t say that three days and a total of six hours is “quick”. This is the entire reason we can’t do this stuff every week anymore.

HEY! It’s 73 degrees in Florida and we’re freezing. What do you Canadians do with this weather, anyway. Holy cr@p it’s cold.

At 73 degrees, we go outside in t-shirts and shorts, cause its summer.

Don’t even talk to us about cold. You want to know our winter? Go to your local supermarket and tell them you want to hang out in their walk-in freezer for some “chill time”. Have a seat, read a book for an hour, then come back and talk to us about cold.

I went to Canada in December once. Experienced the coldest day of my life somewhere in Alberta. That said, I learnt that Canadians know how to stay warm ;)

  3. Casual WoW on November 3rd, 2007 11:17 pm

70 Degrees here at NAS Pensacola currently low of 50…I’m loving it! I can always put more clothes on than I can take off!

What do the Canadians do? They come to Florida for 8 months and fawk up our traffic! That’s what they do, eh!

  4. Kel on November 3rd, 2007 11:17 pm

you know what, all i gotta say is why do you think so many kids are born between the months of july and november? seriously.

  5. Iameht on November 3rd, 2007 11:21 pm

I’m in Nova Scotia so right now I’m enjoying the remnants of Hurricane Noel and praying the tree outside my window doesn’t come down. :(

  6. Kailen on November 3rd, 2007 11:38 pm

Wha? Silly BRK,73 degrees isn’t cold. :) I was sitting at my computer with the windows open when it was 40 degrees or lower out. Of course, I had a blanket, but still. :P

    Bundle up, BRK.

  7. Kevin on November 3rd, 2007 11:55 pm

b b b but it’s cold here in Orlando - I might have to hunt around for my long pants!

BTW, great post on WI - good to have some decent humor on there from time to time.

  8. Bobflintston on November 4th, 2007 12:03 am

BRK - stop the wind up. You already admitted to having spent time in England, and it never gets above 70 degrees here.

BTW WoWinsider article is the best for a long time.

  9. Kruncs of Cho'gall on November 4th, 2007 1:45 am

Wait, you’re freezing in this FL weather? o_O; Must’ve lived here most of your life, cause I am loving it!

Good WoW Insider post; you had me drooling for a couple of minutes there…

  10. Peashooter on November 4th, 2007 2:09 am

    Pfft… build some cold resistance
    You’re a dwarf: +10 cold resistance.
Its 30 out and I’m wearing shorts, take a trip to antarctica and then go back to florida, that’ll do it.

  11. QuestionC on November 4th, 2007 2:45 am

Sorry to hear BRK. Those 2 months of Winter are really hellish.

Look on the bright side, at least you don’t live in Jacksonville. It gets down to the 60s there.

  12. Wrynt on November 4th, 2007 4:04 am

ha where is brk located? I’m in Tallahassee at the moment but from West Palm Beach originally… and it is just delightful weather hereabouts.

    Great article too! GFTC, hahahaha!

  13. Faeldray on November 4th, 2007 4:36 am

73 degrees and you’re cold? For me, that’s getting a little too warm. Spend some time in the Canadian prairies, where the temperature can get to -67 degrees Fahrenheit with the windchill and any exposed skin freezes in less than 30 seconds. Then talk to me about cold :)

I’ll simply echo what Faeldray said. I’d kill for 73 degrees right now. I think the high tomorrow is about 10. Fahrenheit. And snowy.

Try living in Afghanistan for a few summers. 73 is just a bit more than HALF the normal temp here. I started wearing a jacket when it dropped below 80.

    Mrs BRK says…

This post was embarassing! Don’t you remember living in northern Japan for three years? 120 inches of snow between Halloween and Memorial Day? Only heating one room at a time because kerosene heat off base was a month’s salary? No heat in base housing until the general’s wife threatened divorce?

    THAT was cold.

BTW, we’re buying a new electric blanket today because you steal the comforter.

  17. Thomas on November 4th, 2007 1:31 pm

Mrs. BRK just cracks me up!

The GFTC on WI had me in tears. Great job.

  18. kunukia on November 4th, 2007 1:51 pm

    Loved the WoWinsider article.
I have lived in Cape Breton, NS, Vermont, Upstate NY and am now in northern Wisconsin. Agree with those folks that say 73 is shorts weather…

that the best way to heat up is to share body heat….

  20. Apolonal on November 4th, 2007 4:27 pm

Currently in saskatchewan right now, about half way north through it. Right now it’s about -2C or about 28-30F somewhere in there…

Give me 73F weather and I’ll be in shorts and a T-Shirt and looking for some ice cream or some iced tea!

I’d almost kill for that warm of weather right now…

73 is great weather. Both you Canadians and you Floridians have it nice (at least some of the time). The Canadian summers dont get to 110+F and the Florida winters never get to the icey cold -20F without windchill. You both have a rough couple months. Here in South Dakota we only get a couple decent weeks out of the year. Can’t believe anyone settled this desolate wasteland.

And don’t come crying to me about your occasional hurricane either. The destruction that these tornados can do is amazing. Little piece of advice, if you are ever in the mid-west and the sky turns dark, make sure you are at least 5 miles away from any trailer park…those things are tornado magnets!

  22. Anonymous on November 4th, 2007 8:39 pm

Coldest weather I’ve been in: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, -41 degrees celsius (-40 C = -40F btw) with a windchill that brought it to -75 celsius (which is -omfggetmeinside in fahrenheit). I tried going outside without a toque and I could feel my ear start to freeze in about 20 seconds.

  23. Kel on November 4th, 2007 9:43 pm

Saskatchewan FTW! FINALLY had a snowless Halloween this year, after about 12 years of waiting, it was awesome!

  24. Bunnyfer on November 5th, 2007 2:01 am

LOL..first cool weather we Floridians see, and we bundle up. Going to the local store, you could tell who was a tourist and who was a local. Locals had on long pants, due to the brisk breeze. We even threw a extra blanket on the bed as the windows were open all night. Gotta love it!

  25. Mudge on November 5th, 2007 3:06 am

As Peashooter says, once you’ve done the South Pole, all else is a breeze … -25F is a hot summer day … we took our Parkas off.

  26. 2ndworst on November 5th, 2007 5:57 am

dudes …we i was younger, i went to the north slope welding on the rigs …i worked outside in -60f, it was so cold the air was perfectly still …. u spit and it froze and cracked before it hit the ground … the welding cable wouldn’t unwind, it looked like a large coil … but the work had to get done , so us young idiots went outside and did it …. lol

fak …i shiver just thinking about it …. now i hate the cold ….

  27. Anonymous on November 5th, 2007 8:57 am

73 F would be ~23C and that sounds quite wonderful to me! I live in Sweden and with autumn here it’s currently about +10C (50F).

I demand a public excuse! Your task will be to write “I am spoilt with too nice weather” a hundred times. ;-)

Heh, 73 degrees I’d be sitting on my deck having a frosty beer and soaking up the sun.

    Seriously.

    we snuggle O.o

  30. Macciatto & Catsmeow on November 5th, 2007 6:27 pm

Hehe 73 is cold? Rochester, NY here and when it gets into the 40s during winter, we wear shorts! (well, some do anyway!)

  31. Lance on November 6th, 2007 6:27 am

I am feeling the same way here in Phoenix BRK it was 63 this morning on my way home and I had the Heater on.

  32. Freejack on November 6th, 2007 6:41 pm

Are we done talking about the weather?
