Schenanigans at the AH

BRK » 18 November 2007 » In Gear »

So we’re cruising the Auction House looking for bargains, as we always do when we find ourselves in an AH-equipped zone. Two nights ago, we were staring aghast at the outrageously overpriced epic leatherworking patterns when we come across a pattern for Cobrascale Gloves listed for 60g.

Do you see what happened? Dude missed a zero.

This pattern routinely goes for 600g on Drenden and Mr.Happy-Lister mistyped bigtime.

/snag pattern

/gloat in guild-chat

/accept hateful comments with glee

Twenty-four hours later we were taking our traditional saunter through the AH again, but no bizarre patterns at blowout prices did we see. But we did stumble upon something else that caught our eye: two Glove Reinforcements, one for 110g and one for 9g.

What the…

Now we can make these, we don’t use them, but that price differential made us pause. Among other things, it takes fourteen Primal Earths to make one Glove Reinforcement. A Primal Earth can cost from 3-5 gold on the AH so the minimal amount we could make a Glove Reinforcement for a guildie would be 40g.

You know what we were thinking? Another dude dropped a zero. He was trying to sell his Glove Reinforcement for 90g and did the happy-trigger-finger thing.

/snag

/offer to the guild for 9g

But no offers, not a one. No tanks need this? You’re sure? Nobody has an off-spec that can use it? No? OK.

/relist for 50g

/wake up in the morning with a nice paycheck

/sip raspberry latte

/wonder if we can break the 5000g point this week

One way this happens a lot too is that the seller doesn’t know the going price at the AH so is basing it off of the vendor prices.

I got my Felstalker Gauntlets for a mere 20g.

Given the cost of all the mats involved on my server (Primal Air goes for 15-20 by itself), it’s not so much a steal as it is highway robbery.

/later sold a Felstalker Belt for 210g, farmed all the mats meself
    //helloooo, epic mount money

Thats like buying that Deviate Fish recipe on AH you see every now on then for like 5s and wonder. Quickly snag it and relist it for modest 10-15g.

/Salute you for being a Rockerfellar at AH.

Here’s an AH asstard for ya’.. Yesterday I was trying to get an Arcanite Rod for my Enchanting. I looked on the AH saw a few rods for 120g, then did some research on WowHead for the mats. 3 Arcanite Bars and 1 Dense grining stone.

Sweet I thought, as I had just seen bars for 15g a pop. Went back to the AH to gather up my goodies and BLAMO!. Some asstard bought them all and placed them back for 45g each.

I know people try to turn profits on things but come on; unless the normal price was ~45g. I checked my Auctioneer and it said each bar was averaging 20g. Ok so he did a 100+% markup, no sale sucka. I did my dailies and bought the Rod out right.

Now what you did with the Mr/Mrs. Click-Click-Sell. I do that as well, it’s not my fault you missed a zero or two. lol..

I cant tell you how many times I have bought something just to relist it at a better profit. Gratz to you for being in the right place at the right time.

What I love is when I’m paging through the AH with my enchanter trying to find stuff to DE for profit or materials and I find some stuff that is listed for less than an NPC vendor buys it for.
I got a great deal on a bunch of stuff that was listed under vendor sale last week….made 135g on about 15-16 purchases from the same 3 sellers.
Not much in the grand scheme of things I know but quite a bit for my account.

I have found some great deals as well from people who have the hair trigger finger or they just dont know the prices.

Recipe: Savory Deviate Delight normally sells for ~90g and i picked it up for 7s

Recipe: Destruction Potion sells for ~300g and i grabbed it up from the AH for an easy 30g. Selling the potions has more than covered the recipe cost and then some.

Hey Farva what’s your favorite restaurant, the one with the….

My favorite thing to do is check the neutral AH whenever I’m heading to CoT. Not once, not twice, not even three times… but four times I’ve gotten great deals on bags, enchanting mats, and primals because somebody took the risk of transferring items cross-faction at low, low prices.

Bad day for them. Great day for me.
