Why The Exclamation Point?
So Mania casually lobs an exclamation point at us. We’re going to take it as a compliment, ’cause that’s how we roll.
/blush
Well, let’s give this new-fangled linking-thingie a go, shall we?
Wanna know the trick? Visit Powered by Thottbot.

It was intended as a compliment indeed. Note the title text on the link: “Big Red Kitty, loot analyzer extraordinaire!” I even had to look up how to spell extraordinaire for you. *grin*
Wow… That should have read “Powered by Wowhead” — slackers ^^
Um, hate to break it to you, but Thottbot is owned by a goldselling company. I don’t support them in any way shape or form.
@Crystal - We are all “owned” by gold sellers… Their crafty you know.
@crystal
If you had proof of that claim you might convince others to follow your lead, but looking at Thottbot I find it odd that the only adspace I see is very minisicule and has a close button:
Close Ads
# Thottbot and GameStop Recommend: World of Warcraft
# World of Warcraft Burning Crusade Expansion
# PC Games
# Xbox 360 Games
# Nintendo Wii Games
Should we ban all of Thottbot’s advertisers too? Guess we’ll have to stop playing WoW altogether, because the seem to be supporting a goldselling company…
@freejack:
Proof is here and here
If you hadn’t heard that Thottbot was bought up by IGE, one of the biggest gold farming shops, along with Allakhazam and wowhead, sorry to break it to you but you may have been the last one on this face of the planet.
It is all public, in the open and well-documented.
Wowhead and Thotbott are both owned by ZAM, as is Allakhazam (and a few other sites).
[edit: Gwaendar beat me to it.]
@Crystal: WoWhead, Alla and Thott are ALL property of the same group which is NO LONGER associated with IGE. Read WoWhead’s sale announcement here.
Links no worky worky properly for me - on a Mac with Safari 3.
I get the floating tooltip text, but there’s no background behind it, so it’s kinda hard to read!
@someone
Ah no, sorry, in front of an American court of law, IGE and Affinity Media are still one and the same. Check the second link I posted.
On the contrary, since I don’t buy gold, click on ads, or whatever, the gold sellers are supporting me (in a minscule way) rather than the other way around.
Thank You Kindly,
Corwyn
I think “powered” is hardly the operative word. The links don’t come up. Wowhead on the other had was instantaneous.

Oh, really? Was this front page news in Switzerland? Shhhh, don’t tell the Germans.
Seriously, I only asked for proof. Thank you for providing a link, but my argument remains. If, as is claimed, Thottbot is owned by a goldselling company, and Blizzard is an advertiser on said website, then should we ban Blizzard altogether for supporting goldsellers?
Maybe there is a bigger issue here.
Ladies & Gentleman,
What does it matter? If you buy gold, then cool, more power to you lazy bum. If you do not like the concept, then cool, go farm some more. It is a matter of personal choice, no more no less.
Now back to the matter at hand. I love the new link pop up thing BRK, rock on!
Did Mania call you a loot link err..uh power user?
