You Don’t Know About the Snake Trap Bug?!

BRK » 20 November 2007 » In Spells »

ZOMG you’re kidding us!

/chuckle

The Snake Trap Bug!! Hello?!

/guffaw

Ok, ok. You’re a hunter standing at the Karazhan or Zul’Aman summoning stone. Flag PvP and drop a Snake Trap. The snakes…

/teehee

The snakes…

/hahahaa!!

For some reason, our snakes are completely ignoring PvP flags. They will attack any opposite-faction player that is nearby when they are tripped. They won’t turn that player’s PvP flag on, but they will attack and do damage. Dude or dudette is just standing there, minding their own business, and BLAM these snakes just start slapping them around!

/Woohoo!

A level 70 hunter’s Snake Trap against any level 70? They do nothing really, it’s really just an annoyance.

A level 70 hunter’s Snake Trap against the Blood Elf lowbies in the Ghostlands?

/BUWAHAAAA!!!

/HAHAHAHA!!!

/sniffle

OMG it’s so wrong. Don’t do it, we beg you.

/chortle

Do NOT duplicate our depravity. Bad-BRK!

Well if you were on a pvp server you would have plenty more cheap ways to annoy the horde. Sheeping people randomly, Mind-controlling them only to buff them, Sapping people in contested towns because it doesn’t cause damage or pull the guards. All fun things that are made possible by PVP servers.

To each their own. You have your reasons to play on a PvE server and i have mine for PvP.

Like the snake trap trick tho… that is classic, and would be great for around SM and other lowbie horde controlled instances.

I thought they fixed sap to cause guards to aggro

Love the snake trap. If I have a bunch of lowbies ganging up on me I drop one of those and chuckle madly.

Btw, if the other player kills one of your snakes theyll get flagged and you can pewpew them:p

(hangs head) Have done this already, twice, to hordies; once in Crossroads on a raid and once in Tarren Mill on a raid. Funny as all get out to drop the snake trap UNDER the bats at the FP. First person to fly in tripped it and snakes everywhere. Then, three of us did it and the results were even more hysterical. We did feel badly for the low level hordies who were relentlessly attacked, but, yeah, it was the funniest thing I’d done in several months.

Yet another example of Alliance depravity and cruelty ;P

/casts shame on BRK to refresh the duration.

You didn’t have to make a post making fun of me because I didn’t know about that bug.

    I’m a sad panda :(

I also would never gank lowbies unless they decide to attack me first and even then I’ll just laugh at them instead.

Everyone should so this all the time! I’m going to go nuts doing this outside ZA tonight!

    Bad BRK indeed!

To me, harassing lowbies qualifies as griefing - something I always attributed to maladjusted teenagers in general. It’s certainly not something I would expect from BRK, particularly given his frequent lectures on “creating karma” (which incidentally comes in two flavors).

I had someone do this to one my lowbie alts. It was funny until they corpse camped me. I leveled on a PvP server and transferred to PvE specifically to avoid this kind of “humor”. If you think it’s amusing please go to a PvP server where people actually signed up for this sort of harassment.

If you have your pet on defensive and a PVP flagged shaman drops a totem nearby, the pet will attack the totem flaggning you, then go back to attacking the mob it was on.

I’m guessing that this flag PVP stuff makes sense to someone but it is lost on me. Is it something to do with which type of server you are playing on?
I started on Lethon with a RL friend Alliance side and when he wasn’t able to play any longer rolled some Horde toons on Dragonmaw to play with other RL friends and I”ve been there ever since.
    /end noob confession time

discovered another bit of trappy fun the other day too … go to gadgetzan or booty bay, find a flagged hunter with their pet out, flag, drop an ice trap, fall over laughing when they get clobbered by the guards and you don’t touched at all.

huntard not flagged yet? Snake trap baby =)

  15. Freejack on November 21st, 2007 4:27 am

You don’t even need to flag yourself. Lay a trap near a hordie and pull an NPC into it. Kill the NPC and the snakies will g after the Hordie, and they can’t attack you!

    LOL

I play Alliance and Horde so its no matter to me what side does what. I still find this absolutly hillarious.

Do it once its humor do it all the time its annoying. But BRK wouldnt do this all the time would he?

  18. Dave on November 21st, 2007 3:09 pm

Hey, that snake swings both ways all you Alliance scallywags! :) For the Horde, baby!

    You are so bad!

And I am so going to try this.

  20. Gibbiex on November 21st, 2007 5:57 pm

I asked a 60 orc warrior to help me with this test, he told me to go violate myself in private places. Shrug, no sense of humor, those hordies.

I havent played WoW in over 6 months (military deployment) and I just rolled a Horde Druid on a PvE server, all firsts for me. I was sort of digging not having to worry about all the attendant woes of being on a PvP server. And then I land at Crossroads..snake trap wtf? Well at least I am not flagged, OMG I just got pew pewed by a Lvl 70 Hunter. Jump on the guild chat and they sagely explain “The Snake Trap Bug” to me.

FWIW, I dont begrudge BRK this bit of hilarity, so long as it doesnt turn into full blown corpse camp a lowbie fest.

And I know this is an older post, but I had to respond. :)

  23. Anonymous on January 2nd, 2008 4:14 pm

I play a blood elf on a PvE server and a level 70 (I assume, anyway…he was ?? to me) decided to use the snake trap bug on me. The first time it happened, I was like, WTF? Oh well. Then he corpse camped me. It’s all fun and games til some a$$wipe decides to take it way too far. On a related note, on my server the Alliance toons are rapidly developing a reputation for being totally infantile, with IQs equal to their shoe sizes. I suppose it’s because there’s way more players on the Alli side, there are bound to be more d1cks on the Alli side. Sigh.
