Four Procs, Not Five Darn It
Almost 800DPS on tooltip with raid-buffs, Bestial Wrath, Ferocious Inspiration, Rapid Fire and Improved Aspect of the Hawk. By one second we missed the screenshot with the Abacus of Violent Odds cooking, too. Shucks.
This was taken in Zul’Aman a few days ago on our way to the Dragonhawk boss. We took down the Eagle boss earlier this run, making AC 3/6 for this instance.
You can see in this shot we hit our white damage Auto Shots for 630 and 573, an average of 600 per shot. That is down from the tooltip because of the mob’s armor mitigating our damage. Our Auto Shots are critting for an average of 1377 and are occurring almost every third shot. We love haste, it is our best friend aside from Hobbes.
Since we started Missing with our Hit Rating at 88, we tossed on our Violet Eye ring which bumped our Hit Rating to 100. We didn’t miss a single shot on this run. Theorycrafting is all well and good, but if the theory says we must have a Hit Rating of 120 or 130 or whatever, but we’re not Missing with a Hit Rating of 100, we’re obviously not going to increase it. This is the benefit of doing testing and analysis yourself instead of relying on others, and why we recommend that all hunters get out there and see their own data for themselves.
Yes, we will use Scorpid Sting on trash mobs. Our tank is a BWL-raiding hunter in a previous life, knows what SS does, and says he has no problems generating rage with SS applied. We do not recommend you start dropping SS on trash mobs without your tank’s understanding of what the shot does. Interfering with a tank’s rage is bad mojo. Talk to him and get his opinion. Follow up with him after some testing with SS applied and without it. An informed tank is a hunter’s best friend.
For the addon questions we’re going to get, here’s a quick list.
- The map addon is Squeenix.
- Our action bars are Bartender 3 and CyCircled.
- We use ClearFont 2 for the pretty fonts.
- The UI is classic Perl.
- We use both CooldownTimers2 (below and to the right of our toon) and Kharthus’s Hunter Timers (below and to the left of our toon) as they track different cooldowns.
- The criticals are announced thanks to Critical Alert.
These are all linked on our sidebar for easy downloading.

I’d love to check out your screenie, but the link goes to an empty Thottbot page… :p
we went for the timed event again ….we got the bear and eagle …. but burned the guy on the lynx …damn, and no wipes and still didn’t make it … anyone got any hints on this as we kept a pretty good pace not wasting much time on loot distribution. one guy masterloot and the rest go clear trash.
we had 20 min to the bear, 15 to the eagle and then 12 to the lynx?? ….. i don’t get that as aren’t we supposed to get 20 min between each if you make it? anyone know whats going on here?
berserkers rage dropped and i lost the roll ….. wasn’t even close, but at least it went to one of my hunters …still no trollbane or signet.
i kind of like the timed event, we cleared the place practicing the final bosses in just barely over 3 hours.
did anyone know there is a repair and regents guy in the hut on the right before you go up the stairs to Malacrass …starts as a quest where you unlock the guy chained up.
another thing we found out …. you can MC the flame guys and they will help blow down the guardians. they will die of course but isn’t that the point anyway.
Oh no, we need to ask permission now to use Scorpid Sting? Please expand on this.
Too, has your hit cap stayed the same after the patch? I thought weapon racials got nerfed.
We’ll do a post on Scorpid Sting.
Our Hit Cap increased as the 355/350 for Dwarf+Guns went away and was replaced with a +1% Crit. As such, our 88 Hit Rating was insufficient to guarantee no misses. Thus, we increased our +Hit to 100. No misses since.
I notice there’s a moonkin druid in the background of the screenie. Chances are, mobs are getting tagged with improved faerie fire, which gives you an additional +3% hit. ^^

What mod are you using to track your misses? I would like to use it thanks.
WWS stats will show the number of misses as well as the miss % if you use the [config] item when listing an individual toon’s stats.
We use WoWWebStats for all our post-instance analysis needs.
