WoWHead Linkage Testing
We had to remove the Thottbot Java in order to get the WoWHead Java to work. They kinda… mish-mashed.
Put this:
in your template. We put ours right before the head-close tag.
Then, insert hyperlinks in this format:
Where the q3 is the level of the item.
Leave out the class=”qX” for just black text.
q0 = poor (gray)
q1 = common (white)
q2 = uncommon (green)
q3 = rare (blue)
q4 = epic (purple)
q5 = legendary (orange)
q6 = artifact (yellow? butterscotch?)
And now the kind and extremely talented people at WoWHead have sent us this jaunty little email:
We have incorporated these changes and, hopefully, that little problem will be solved.
WoWHead reads BRK? Makes you wonder who else does…

Fails! You link to thotthead instead!
BRK on 22 Nov 2007 at 6:13 pm #
Testing phase, please standby before slapping us with FAIL.
OK?

just a comment, when i mouseover it disappears behind the armory sig link thang. dunno if that happens to everyone.
Someone on 22 Nov 2007 at 6:15 pm #
I knew it was testing! You say that on your title!
I just couldn’t miss out on the rare situation where I happened to be reading this right after you started testing!
BRK on 22 Nov 2007 at 6:17 pm #
That armory sig thing is Java. This WoWHead linking thing is Java. They may not be playing nicely on every platform with every browser.

Try changing the order in which you include those two scripts: maybe it affects who gets to be shown “on top”…
Someone on 22 Nov 2007 at 6:28 pm #
Actually, there *is* a wrong color 6: Artifact. As well as 0: Poor.
Something like [The Twin Blades of Azzinoth]
Show in the wrong color here as comments apparently don’t accept the CLASS attribute…
Someone on 22 Nov 2007 at 6:44 pm #
@KEL: I also get that in both Firefox 2 and IE 6.
@BRK: Did you try to switch the order of those scripts?
BRK on 22 Nov 2007 at 6:56 pm #
The armory-script is in a widgit, the wowhead-script is in the main file. We cannot “switch them”.

And what about placing that widget on the bottom of the page? 1 armory sign on top, the other on the bottom…
Out of curiosity, what do you use to browse? Opera? Does it work fine there?

Pure Gold - this is heaps better than the links before - they actually work properly on my (and I assume your) Mac

just FYI all of the tooltipped links worked fine for me on Firefox (I check your blog couple times a day, and didn’t notice any glitches), the thottbot ones and the ones now, though thottbot ones took a little longer to load and view properly
and word about quality content sites spreads fast, so it’s just a matter of time before it reaches ‘important’ people
since I’m quite new to WoW, your blog helped me a lot to understand how game works and to see where I can try to improve
thanks, and keep up the good work, Corri@Aerie Peak, EU
p.s. wish there was something similar for druid tanks

Something similar for druid tanks, you say?

yep, found it 15sec after posting my comment, I didn’t look for such stuff earlier since druid’s only 51 at the moment, and I wasn’t exactly clear in that PS, it was more like wishfull thought, not a complain

Yay! Wowhead rocks!
Hoss on 23 Nov 2007 at 7:14 pm #
“Powered by Wowhead” officially!
Much better in my option, works fine for me in IE, FF and Opera, and looks like wowinsider has decided to use the Wowhead links on their site too.

I’m sorry, I’m an incorrigable pedant. The scripts in question are not java, they are javascript. The two technologies are unrelated, except in their dumb names.
