Have You Been Good?

BRK » 23 November 2007 » In Hardware »

“Dear BRK, I am a Warcraft Widow. My husband plays and plays and plays. I love him, though, in spite of his stupid game. What can I get him for Christmas that he might look up from his computer for 1/10 of a second and acknowledge me. Sincerely, Mrs BRK… I mean, Anonymous Female.”

RAZER Copperhead Razor High Precision Gaming Mouse. You cannot run an instance or demolish people in PvP with a battery-operated, wireless mouse. Our GM almost wiped us on Prince when he started changing his batteries but the game was stuck with him running onto Prince’s terrace. Get him an awesome mouse like this one. $49.99

Belkin n52te Tournament Edition SpeedPad. Do you really want to capture his attention? Shove one of these under his nose and watch his toon die a horrible death as it goes ignored while he rips the packaging to shreds. Intimidating to the novice, hardcore users swear by this accessory. $69.99

ViewSonic 19″ VA1903wb Wide LCD Computer Monitor. Not a primary monitor, but a second monitor. There is very little that helps a Warcraft addict more than being able to have the game run full-sized on a main monitor and WoWHead, WoWWiki, or BigRedKitty open on a secondary monitor. For under $200, this high-quality LCD display rocks. $173.74

Plantronics DSP-500 Digitally-Enhanced USB Gaming/Multimedia Stereo Headset and Software. Can’t stand listening to him and his friends call each other “noobsauce” and hearing their raid described as “Epic Fail on Steroids?” Cut out one side of the conversation by slapping a sweet pair of USB headphones on his noggin. If you shove some cookies in his yapper, you’ll solve the problem of his white-noise, too. $24.99

eVGA e-GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB PCI-Express 256-P2-N761-AR Graphics Card. Is this the meanest, most bad-@ss video card on the planet? Nowhere close. But if your loved-one doesn’t have a 256MB video card and you want to save some dough for your hour-long massage at the new spa, this little card should make him very happy. $141.99 after rebate.

OK, so if none of these gifts wouldn’t make you happy, what should are you going to put on your list?

    Mr. Silly BRK

For videocards, about $20 more can get you a ati 3850 which more than doubles the performance of that

Amazon has the ATI 3850 for $209, which is a bit more than $142.

Now everybody is more than free to point out better deals and different sites, of course.

    Here ya go :)

Though it’s google, to do a price search on an item of interest use http://www.froogle.com

This will especially be better for having two displays going without causing you much trouble :)

If you play on a Windows computer what you want….no strike that what you NEED is a CH Products MFP for Vista players or an Ergodex DX1for those running XP.
My N52 has been gathering dust since I got one and my fingers are oh so happy.
You can configure macros or key press combos and put the 25 buttons where ever they feel the most comfortable.

    Already got mine :P.

But I think I’d go for a new video card if I had any clue whether or not you can get new video cards that are better for macbookthingies.

wireless mice are awesome. I have the G7.

Only a tool lets the battery run that low in an instance.

Oh yeah, BRK, since you mentioned the 8600gts, here’s a link to a deal in which it’s only $80, now it’s really on the cheap.

    I’ve tried several gaming/general mouses including the Razor Copperhead and i just bought myself a Microsoft Sidewinder mouse. I must say it is by FAR the most amazing mouse ive ever had. It’s worth it for the amazing thumb-buttons alone! Improved my WoWing and Hunter performance by far, I’ve been no. 1 on the results list on around 90% on my battleground matches ever since ^_^;
P.S. Having some nice skillz helps too xD

I just wish the Nostromo n52te was available for purchase. As of right now its still not released.

I blew my old n52 up while playing UT2K4. Saw this was comming out so decided to wait.

At least people are promoting eVGA…

They seriously make some of the best Video Cards!

@Dammerung - Macbooks cannot upgrade their graphics cards. (Neither can Windows laptops.)
