Pet Food
Yes! Finally the cooking daily quest offered up the dreaded and mystical Kibbler’s Bits recipe. A quick jaunt to Hellfire Peninsula and we nabbed 20 of the Buzzard Meats we need to cook up a batch.
Now most of the time we’ll want Hobbes to chow down on the DPS food, but sometimes we want him to have his stamina treats. ZOMG, it sounds like we need a new PetBuff Macro!
/use [nomodifier] Kibbler’s Bits
/use [modifier:ctrl] Sporeling Snack
There we go. If we hold down the CTRL key (Command key on Macs), and mush our macro, Hobbes will eat stamina food, otherwise he’ll get the DPS stuff.
What does Kibbler’s Bits do to Hobbes? Well, let’s look at an un-food-buffed cat first:
Then we feed Hobbes his new DPS-food and take another screenshot, like so:
And that’s a 5.6 DPS increase! Isn’t that just peachy; a 3.3% buff and we think this new pet food totally rocks. If you’re not doing your cooking dailies, knock them out just for this recipe at at least.

Why is Hobbes so camera-shy? Always hidding!
It’s a bug with his skin. He’s never showed up centered. No idea why or if it’ll ever be fixed.
And dont remember the +20 hit food aswell… another good reason to do the cookcing quest!
Oh man, I have done the cooking quest so MANY times now, and I never get my Kibbler’s Bits. I have to resort to giving my buzzard meat to the GM, a priest, to cook for me. Which quest reward did you get the meat from?
PS: I don’t know why, but the comment window is bugged on Firefox. I can’t see the scroll bar or the extreme right of the window. Any suggestions?
D’oh. My GL, not GM, is what I meant to say. GL!
@yepameda: mine works, try clearing your cache.
And I never thought about it, but I got me a little pet-feed macro going on now…
/cast Feed Pet
/use [nomodifier] Smoked Talbuk Venison
/use [modifier:ctrl] Clefthoof Ribs
stuck that baby on one of my minibars
makes it easy
I have the bits for my pet but I also snagged the storm chops which add a little interesting detail to the melee combat at times. The tanks in my guild love me when I give them a stack, but the eels it requires is a pain in the butt to fish for.
Just a little note for those new to the Mac OS. We old timers always talk about a “command key”. This tends to confuse a lot of people since there is no key actually labeled “command”. What we really mean is to use the “Apple” key which is equivalent to the ctrl key on Windows.
We linked to a pic of the Command key, the Apple key, the Cloverleaf key, or whatever you want to call it.
Make sure you pick the meat crate as quest reward, if you wanna pick up Kibler’s Bits. It will not be in the barrel of fish afaik.
On my (admittedly ancient) Mac, I use the ctrl key for accessing macros which use [mod:ctrl]. The option (alt) key for [mod:alt].
Thank You Kindly,
Corwyn
Kibler’s Bits will drop from a fish crate; a guildie got hers that way. Fish, meat…I still can’t get it.
Unrelated comment but O great BRK can you please start doing Arena so we can have a BM PvP blog worth reading? PLEASE please perrrrrty please !!!!
This is extremely useful, I was totally unaware of this….
Could someone explain to me where i get the daily quests from?
Thanks and thanks again BRK for making it easier for all hunters
Damn, never knew this… Heard a lot of nice stuff about the Cooking Daily, but this takes the lot I would say.
And then I read that there is a +hit food for pets too. AWESOME! Cooking Daily here I come… when I’m 70 that is.
@BRK
Sorry, missed the link there! Thanks for the Mac evangelism, though. If Windows converts realize that the apple key is equivalent to the ctrl and the option key is equivalent to the alt key on Windows, the transition is really very easy.
The cooking daily quest comes from The Rokk in Lower City.
Just smell what he’s cooking and you’ll find him.
My druid got the Kibler’s recipe out of a barrel of fish, on her first run through the quest, so yes, it does drop with fish.
I got my recipe from the fish reward too, so that’s definitely possible.
Gave some to my favorite warlock to test it and yep, it works for summoned demons as well. Wonder if I could buff my shadowfiend with it?
I got mine with the meat rewards.. so its not only fish
Lock minions too? Dayumn! My own lock and those of my buddies are going to get pretty happy with this.
Spicy Hot Talbuk does buff +20 hit, but it’s not for pets. And yes, it’s also available through the cooking daily quest.
There are six new recipes:
Recipe: Spicy Hot Talbuk
Recipe: Kibler’s Bits
Recipe: Delicious Chocolate Cake (rare)
Recipe: Stormchops (rare)
Recipe: Broiled Bloodfin
Recipe: Skullfish Soup
Not sure if they all really drop from both the crate and the barrel- I believe the first recipe drops from the crate only, the latter two from the barrel only, and the others from both.
Dont have the recipe but another hunter on our Kara run gave me some Kibler’s Bits for my cat and Maggie would not eat the food. Message said “that your pet doesn’t like that kind of food”, huh? It’s pet food is it not? Maggie is a lvl 70 cat so she should like it. It must be all the clefthoof ribs I’ve been given. wierd.
Galor and Maggie
you dont use “feed pet” rather just click on the food and the pet will get the buff.
@anonymous, aahh…, thanks. You learn something new everyday, for an old huntard!, lol
Yeah, that whole - it’s food but you don’t feed it thing is not very intuitive. Kinda goes along with that - you have to learn from other pets to teach your pet thing. A couple real puzzling things still in our class.
Thank you Anon#7!
I’ve been trying to get my pets to take sporeling snacks and, “[they] don’t like that food.”
Can’t wait to try it.
