that should work so when you want to MD and trap, you just hold down shift, then you dont have to change your macro back and forth.

I wish our guild were open to the idea of hunters pulling mobs for them. Most insist the tank pulls, even when they know hunter’s MD tool is designed for this purpose. I watch them time and again come running for aggro a priest bought with a crit heal when in fact I’ve already sent it their way by use of MD.

Or running Heroic Shattered Halls with a mob of 5. I had a hell of a time trying to peal Square off the tank to trap which ended up as a wipe over and over.

*pulls hair out in frustration*

One of these days, I’ll work up the courage to… umm… I don’t know what I’ll do but I’m dying! Heh.

My GL has been gone for some time with major computer problems. He was able to connive his way back on after the holiday, but only for the days right after turkey day. First instance back? Blood Furnace. Lots of LOS pulls. Lots of MD pulls. Lots of trapping/sheeping opportunities. We were running a new healer and a new mage through, getting to know them and their talents and helping them practice.

First big room with one wandering magic user. GL, a warrior, was pulling, over my half-hearted objections. He did want to just come back and kill stuff as he’d been away too long. But I warned him, “Pull the MU when he gets to the far right.” “I know. I know.”

You know what happened next. Of course it’s not a total wipe because I FD. We laughed heartily and then I said, “You are kill and smash. You’re not allowed to play with guns the rest of the instance.”

I’ll have to look into the cancel of the MD. I never thought of that. When I’m required to pull and trap, I target my mob and pull it, knowing the rest come along. The tank charges and grabs the skull and anything else while my circle (”Gimmi always gets the ‘nipple’.” Funny story there.) keeps coming. If I need to MD onto the tank, I do what elanesse does, Aimed to start the pull, Arcane and Auto. Then Distracting or Steady to announce to the nipple, “Hey, over here bub.” It happens quite quickly that the tank seldom takes more than a band-aid of damage before, “Houston? We have a popsicle.”

After the instance, I told him that he should not be pulling unless he doesn’t have a competent hunter with him. “It’s not your job. If you are the tank, you tank. If you are dps, you are dps. No pulling.” He argued that because he’s usually the initial attacker, he should be pulling. He’s obstinate but then so am I, so it’s going to take me some time to whollop the idea of me doing all his pulls when we’re grouped. Other warriors or tanks, they are more amenable to the idea. Saves them some thinking or headaches.

I like to take the close to 70 hunters to BEM and practice on the ogres up there, not the elites, but the others. They come in easily managed clusters.
