Where We Stand
The editor liked the rough draft of our book proposal, asked for a few changes, and we’re going to submit a final proposal on Monday. It’s the best news we could have hoped for! /WooT!
We specifically asked if we could discuss any details of this experience on our blog, she said,
“No, hoser! Keep your trap shut!”
“But…”
“Absolutely not. You want royalties, you play by our rules, capice?”
Edit: Thanks for all the opinions of the Lurker fight. We’ll review and implement something, we promise.
“Yeah but…”
“What part of NO don’t you understand?”
“But can’t I…”
“Don’t make me get angry. You won’t like me when I’m angry.”
/whimper
Have we mentioned that we love strong women?
/Austin Powers look of intrigue
Other news:
Aetherial Circle went to SSC and learned the Lurker fight. We got it all down and were going to take him out when the fish respawned. /TJ’esque-shriek
The pattern for the Boots of the Crimson Hawk dropped off a trash mob. We have it already because we bought it off the AH a month ago. /simmer with rage
Right now, our pet has a choice in the Lurker fight: A) sit on the center ring and attack the boss, B) sit with us on an outer ring and tank the adds. We prefer B and, as such, our DPS suffered. This is one of those cases of doing what is best for the raid is more important than our ego. Of course, we are hopeful it will be the only time in SSC we have to do it.
And on Monday, assuming AC goes to Gruul’s Lair, we’ll be filming and making a BRK Hunter’s Guide Movie of Gruul himself. Our guild can get him down at ten growths so we should have a good movie done.
Edit: Thanks for all the Lurker-info. We’ll break it down and see what’s what out there. Stupid fish.

You don’t have to tank the naga on the islands because they use their bow and don’t go to melee range.
What I do is put my pet on the inner ring, put him on stay, and keep him on Lurker with a few mend pets as necessary. When the melee naga get to the inner ring I put my pet on them.
What I do on the naga on the islands is use a freezing trap and get one of them. If there’s a warlock or priest there they fear the untrapped one. Sometimes the main tank or an offtank comes to the island and he tanks them but it’s not necessary. The naga have such low health that by the time the trapped one gets free the first one is dead.
So you don’t need to lower your dps to deal with the naga on the islands.
Ah, other Dragonmaw peoples read BRK! That’s really rather awesome to know.
Too bad our server is not happy. Poor Dmaw. It’s time to put it out of its misery.
Congrats on the RL triumph, BRK. As a technical editor and English major myself, I know how good you must be feeling. I wish you the best this weekend getting those changes made and that it all passes on from here with flying colors.
/clap
Have your mages sheep the adds on the islands, drop your freeze trap to help them out and dps the crap out of the melee adds and take out any hunter adds that remain. If the mages keep up the sheeping on the hunter adds, you have fewer hunter adds to take out each round.
That way your pet can stay on Lurker the whole fight and help take out the melee adds. No need to let Hobbes go to waste on this fight unless you have no mages at all in the raid.
i don’t see how keeping your pet on your island is best for the raid. put your pet on the inner ring. since you’re on the outer ring threat doesn’t matter so as soon as lurker shows up pop bestial wrath, rapid fire, and w/e trinket you have. when the adds come out just put your pet on the one that is being tanked on the inner ring then deal with ur own island. usually my pet is even in range for kill commands to go off.
another tip is to just barely get in the water when he is spouting, that way you can still be in los to dps him. between dps’ing on the island, dps’ing in the water, and arcane shotting between the two, you and your pet should always be doing damage. my hunters and i are consistently top dps for this fight.
lol i’m from dmaw too.
As some people have already mentioned, keeping Hobbes on your island is probably a bad thing. Those two naga use their bows and if you DO get in melee range with them, they have a really nasty hit from my experience.
@BRK

You will very rarely ever here me say this, but this is one of those cases where your desire to top the damage meters and feed your ego is actually what is best for the raid. The faster you dps down the fishy, the fewer submerges you have to deal with and thusly, the fewer times you have to deal with the adds. Put Hobbes to work on the melee adds and keep him on the Lurker whenever he is up and you’re doing both your job and keeping that ego healthy.
And grats on the book proposal progress!
We’ve finally got lurker on farm in our raid, and I’m on doughnut island (Yes, the little island with the hole in it). I base my pet off of which DPS’ers come to my island to help down those stupid Naga wenches. If we have shammy aid, my owl stays with the MT. (Yay for hunters in the MT group! I get battle shout AND Leader of the Pack, plus sexy warlock buff’ness.) He helps down that stupid gladiator and my island takes out our wenches.
No shaman means my owl stays with me, so our DPS doesn’t get squished. I cry when that happens, but it keeps the most DPS that *I* can control in the fight the longest. We’re lucky enough to have 3 hunters, so one for each island.
Dulcea and Kamau (Shrieky to my raid. *grin* I love screech)
Agree that you keep you pet on the center ring for DPS and to help with the guardian add.
Another tip is to MD the guardian onto the tank for extra aggro then you don’t have to worry about it getting loose and wreaking havoc.
Right, as a BM hunter, the Lurker Below fight is the BEST, almost as much DPS’spewing as on Morogrim Tidewalker.
1 : Leave pet on the big island.
a. The Pet does take damage from the whirls, but with the long time between them, a simple Mend Pet will suffice.
b. The Pet is immune to spout and will happily chew the fishie when it’s spouting.
2 : No hunter is an island (not alone, atleast
)
a. Spot the 2 locations the nagas will come to a standstill and fire bows on YOUR island.
b. Let them come swimming, let them move across the island, let them hit you ONCE, while you’re dropping an iceblock on one of them.
c. Dps the other add, preferably tanked by a boomkin or just ranged dps.
d. When that add is down, your trap is about to break, repeat c on naga #2.
e. When done, dps the Big Melee Naga on the main island, and get ready to dps Lurker, then duck in for Spout.
When out guild does Lurker, We usually has 2 hunters, they stand on the same platform. Our pets on the inner ring. Pets are just dps when he is up. We trap one add each on the platform, while we take down one of the inner ring mobs, then the two of us nukes down our own adds once after the other, no need for pets. They doesnt hurt that much on mail, and they go down fast.
