The Boner-Post Is Even Better
“Often, I don’t even realize I have rogue support until they appear out the shadows and slaughter the mage that is counterspelling me or the priest that is keeping their team up. Even better, they appear after an engagement has begun and turn the tide of battle with a well placed ambush or cheap shot (no skill could be more aptly named). They choose their targets with care and choose when the best time to strike would be. They unstealth and say ‘Don’t worry Lightshield, I got this jerk - you just keep healing.’
“/love. /hug. You not only saved my ass, but the asses of everyone around us. Thank you for playing a rogue.”

What about us Feral Druids and our 3 Second Pounce Stun or our 385% Damage Ravage?
Huh?!
HUH??!
That’s what I want answered. Why are rogues praised without even the mention of us kittens hiding in the shadows waiting for the time to strike?
RESPECT TEH DROODZ.
I’ve never had a cat stunlock me till I died.
cat - pounce, maim; bear - charge, bash, then cat - dash out of range while other finish off whats left of that toon, throw some heals, stealth and repeat on another victim
(btw there was 8+ seconds of stun in there (with some points in feral tree), 3 interupts, silence and slowing in the same attack)
I dislike that blog, the poster always seems so absolutely disdainful of DPS. The point I’d like to make is that without DPS your looking at a very long time downing a boss while your tank chips away at the targets health.
Not to mention the blogger can be incredibly scathing.
@Fio
Granted druid can do that initial stun they do not have as good of a way to almost completely stunlock someone. Nor are you able to reenter without leaving combat entirely. (Though you’d think with BC they might have considered doing that maybe with a longer cooldown than the rogue Vanish to make up not having to use a reagent for it)
Anyways druid are appreciated to me more for HoTs and rooting opponents than anything else for me.
My favorite part about playing rogue is being able to ambush my mark and dispatching them in a matter of seconds… And being a gnome on top of that only makes them hate me more.
Here’s blinding you!

Who is this Fio?

That blogger seems extremely disdainful of everyone, to be perfectly honest. Having read through the blog’s entire archive, I just don’t know if I would want to play with that person. You might be a good healer, but being the best player on the planet will never save you from being an ass.
@anonymous
You know what, youre right. I am a bit disdainful of DPS because of many bad experiences with them. Until DPSers start appreciating what others do for them, I don’t think that is going to change.
On the other side of that, I am fully aware how necessary DPS is and there isn’t anything I love more than a DPS class that is self sufficient (i.e. ‘look, i can bandage - heal the tank’) and good at their class.
@sade
Firstly, thank you for posting your name. Anyways, I’m not disdainful of everyone, only people who have stepped on me in the past. If you earn my respect, ill bend over backwards to take care of you.
And yeah, I am a jerk. It would be hypocrital for me to be all sunshine and roses in game and be an ass IRL wouldn’t it?
Certainly would be. :S WoW is all about playstyles, after all. And hell, if you can find yourself a good guild and a good base of friends without having to put on even the slightest vestige of a mask overtop your personality, then that’s not only respectable; it’s ideal. Please don’t take my prior comments personally; I suppose the way I should have phrased that is that if you and I played on the same server, our personalities would likely clash pretty quickly.
Healers are like that kid on your block who just got a brand spanking new football for Christmas. Generally, they fall into two major categories. Awesome and Awful. Naturally there is a full continuum in between these two, but it definitely seems to me that there are larger concentrations at the extremes than in the middle between them.
The Awesome kid shows up to the park with his shiny new official sized NFL football at 8:00 am on a Sunday, teams are picked, and the game begins. From when the first game starts until mom yells dinnertime, that football belongs to the group. Everybody plays, everybody has a good time, and everybody goes home happy. Healers like this routinely restore my faith in humanity, and its people with this attitude of whatever class that make WoW worth playing.
Like the Awesome kid, the Awful kid shows up at 8:00, but because its his ball, and because no one else has one, naturally he’s got to be captain and get first pick. Once the teams are decided on, of course he’s gonna be the quarterback, because again, it is his ball and you can’t play without it. Don’t like it? Go find someone else with a ball. Then maybe things don’t go his way and his party wipes. . I mean his team loses, and he curses everyone out and hits his hearthstone. . I mean runs home to his mom with the ball under his arm.
Based on the blog, Lightshield strikes me as much closer to the latter than to the former. Being a healer is hard, I get that. Leveling to 70 as a healer is a feat worthy of much respect, obviously. BRK talks about healer karma and he is right on the money. I tip and praise my heals wherever I am in an instance, and some of the best people I have played with both with regard to skill and attitude have been healers. But if a healer expects people to put up with any crap she decides to dish out simply because she has a necessary skill, personally, I’d rather miss the opportunity to run an instance than deal with her nonsense. Sure its her ball, and sure we cant play without it, but there’s no need to be a b@#&h about it. Relax, do your job, have fun, and be a nice person, and everyone goes home happy.
Believe you me Lightshield (its Anon here) I’ve had my fair share of bad DPS experiences too, being a hunter I know it must be frustrating for you to have to deal with incompetent retards but it affects me more so because now I have to deal with a derogatory class. If I had a gold for everytime I’ve been refused a spot for DPS or CC because I’m a hunter I’d have enough for a ground mount.
But enough self pity, I love you guys, the tanks and healers, and I don’t really see why your guild has such a taboo on respeccing. Loved you guys so much I rolled a priest, which is now 67 almost 68 and loving it.
Don’t think your unappreciated mate, its just that your cynicism is really put offing.
@Sade
I appreciate people who express their opinions, and if i were to get offended when someone did, that would be rather small wouldn’t it?
@ursantile
Don’t get me wrong. I like to play nice and I like having good relationships with the community. What puts me into ‘jerk mode’ is when other people treat me like an NPC as opposed to another person worthy of the same level of respect that they feel that they’re entitled to.
With that said though, if I am healing an instance for you and you feel that verbal abuse or shoddy playing are the order of the day, then I will take my leave of you. I won’t be mean about it, i will just say goodbye and hearth out.
@ Lightshield. I am always the first person to rip into anyone who says “WTF!! Where were my heals.” That is utter crap. Healing is a hard job and anyone that ranks on the healer, particularly a DPS class that pulls aggro and gets stomped deserves a /slap followed by a /get omen and learn how to use it. There is never cause to verbally abuse a healer.
The natural extension of that is that though, is that it is not OK to verbally abuse anyone, (unless they are being an ass). Its not your putting the smack down on creeps that bothers me. In fact I applaud that and consider myself very adept at it as well. Its your whole “I am a commodity therefore I can do anythign I like and if you dont like it piss off” attitude that I take exception to.
I agree with the attitude honestly. When I’m tanking an instance I’ve done a bajillion times, I’m not going to lie down and let some ass hat tell me how to do things. I’m the tank, do it my way, or find another tank.
Whenever you are in a party/raid for an instance a leader emerges. Whether its pre-designated or not there is going to be one person who rises above the rest be it by knowledge, party role, guild status, level, etc. I believe that the key to success with any instance is for the rest to become followers (hard as it may be). When the leader marks up the nasties(what we call mobs…long story) thats what you do. Period. If it doesnt work , most (good)leaders are willing to make changes to benefit the party. Overall leaders will emerge if not already pre-determined, pay attention and do what they tell you. If you are the leader in the group, DO NOT BLOCK OUT INPUT FROM THE PARTY!! There is always something new to learn wherever you are in game.
-BRK you are the Shiznit.-
Btw, i don’t understand why you’d tip a healer over a dps class. Tanks in plate i can fully understand (awfull repair costs), but why healers? If a healer heals like hes supposed to do, it’s of course great, but so is it when the dpsers bring what they should. I often think the healers and tanks are getting a bit too much attention…
I have done a lot of PUG’s and I take it for granted that there will be wipes as not all players have top gear or experience.
What i get pissed off about is when someone goes - this won’t work and I wont spend gold on repairs - and leaves the party.
Also I don’t see why we need to wait for a healer to do an instance.
Sure it makes things easier but i’m sure I have read a comment on BRK’s site that 4 hunters and a warlock cleared SL ( with a few wipes).
I’m willing to do that sort of thing any time just for fun and who cares about the cost of damage(its only WOW gold anyway).
@Super_Duck
Trying to get a healer or a tank on our server is madness. I grew so tired of it I went to PVP cause PVE just wasn’t happening. I have a 70 hunter and a mid level Warrior. BRK is right, you tip that warrior for sure. I’ve gotten some great heals in BG and if I had the time (circumstances being what they were) I’d have tipped the healer too. When I can focus on my shot rotation and getting my pet on the antagonist of the moment without worrying about heals, it’s awesome. Some of my best damage during BG has been because of great healers in the group keeping me alive and allowing me to DPS my heart out.
For that reason if I am defending a position or whatever, I always keep my eye on our healer. If someone starts to go after he/she I slap intimidate and commence to hammer.
Same with my warrior who’s more PVE(on another server and is horde). I do my thing and watch out for the healer. Without a healer my warrior is just a short lived punching bag.
