Sporebats Are Not Win
“Dear BRK, … I am a first time hunter, but long time reader of your blog. I am curious as to when I should acquire a new pet.
“I did the typical cat in the dwarf startup zone and have had it all the way to current level of 18 and 17 for the pet. My question is should I be looking for other pets at certain levels. I have browsed your blog again since playing and remember seeing something bout boars make great tanking pets. Is it just a coolness factor to get different pets or could I just keep on with current pet? Just trying to maximize my leveling time is all. Thanks for any and all help. Jaerod”
If one goes through all the available pets, their stats, their advantages and disadvantages, one quickly realizes one thing:
1. Basically, pets are pets are pets
2. Not all pets are pets, some are family
3. Coolness totally counts
4. Warlocks have minions, hunters have pets - the difference is only understood by hunters
5. We desperately want a Zul’Aman bear as a pet, even more so than the ZA bear mount
So what do we mean by pets are pets are pets? Well, let’s think about one of the higher DPS pets there are, a Wind Serpent. How much of a BM hunter’s total damage does their pet do? Well lucky us, we happen to have a recent WWS report of a very recent heroic Steamvault run where we took our Wind Serpent with us. Here’s a quick pic of us going full-out, balls-to-the-wall Rambo-DPS mode:
How much of our total damage on this boss did our pet provide?
So our pet’s melee damage was 21,069. Now Petopia says that a Wind Serpent does +7% more damage than an “average” pet. We can estimate that an “average” pet would have done 19,691 total melee damage, as 19,691 * 1.07 is approximately 21,069.
Let’s pretend we had taken a really-low DPS pet with us instead, like a Turtle. Again according to Petopia, Turtles do 10% less damage than an “average” pet. Since we know our “average” pet would’ve done 19,691 damage, our Turtle would’ve done 19,691 * 0.9 total melee damage, or approximately 17,722.
21,069 for a Wind Serpent, 17,722 for a Turtle. That’s less than 3500 damage difference, isn’t it. Is it measurable, you bet. Is your DPS hampered if you bring a Turtle instead of a Wind Serpent or a Cat or other high-DPS pet? Definitely.
If you adore your Turtle with all your WoW-lovin’ heart, should you sacrifice him to the Abandon Pet button on the alter of MQoSRDPS divinity?
H3ll no.
Don’t let your guild master, your fellow hunters, tier-6-geared forum denizens, or even Us tell you which pet is best for you. We can tell you which does the most DPS, foshizzle, but we can’t tell you what you should love.
This brings us to point numero dos, Pets are Family. How many times have you read in the BRK comments and elsewhere about how some people would never ever EVER give up their piggy, their bear, their boar, etc. We have feelings for these guys, as crazy as that sounds.
If you have a cuddly little ravager you’ve leveled since you were level 10 and just can’t part with him, don’t. Ditto your cats and your wolves and everything else. It’s a game. Allow your emotions to be involved and your happiness to grow, regardless of whether your pet is high or low-DPS.
Just no Sporebats, natch.
BRK loves Hobbes but understands that there are cats everywhere and, as such, his cat has a lower coolness-factor. That’s life, we deal with it.
Do you see level 70 Gorillas every day? No, you don’t. Great, massive level 70 pink Tallstriders of death? Nope. Ghostwolves ruining your every quest because every hunter below level 40 has one? No way.
One of the best looking wolves in the game is Ironjaw. We’ve seen one Ironjaw pet, period. It’s not elite, it’s not hard to find, it’s in the same place every day. Very few people get it. Why? Because it’s not elite, it’s not hard to find, and it is in the same place every day.
Why does coolness count? Because a pet is not a minion. Every warlock imp is the same. Summon, abuse, sacrifice, /yawn. Whereas every hunter’s pet can be different, a specific fit for every personality.
“I want the most DPS possible, period.” Ravager-boy.
“I want something nobody else has.” Gorilla, pink flamingo, Turtle of Doom, etc.
“Silent and deadly, I play defense and love to smoosh rogues.” Catgirl pwns with Prowl.
“PvP baby, it’s all about Season 3!” Boar-man.
“I have more money than sense and am going to get a Ghostwolf!!” Um.. Ghostwolf.
“My sister plays Alliance, I play Horde, we PvP against each other, and she has a massive fear of spiders.” The biggest, greenest, hairiest Spider FTW, crawling all over her toon, freaking her out, and giving her nightmares. That’s just all win, isn’t it. Yes you may owe her some money for her psychiatrist, but it’s totally worth it.
So what pets should you be taming as you level? All of them that appeal to you, sarsaparilla. If nothing else, definitely use Petopia to get an idea of what you like and be prepared to tame it at the appropriate level.
Except Sporebats, natch.

Me warlock friends say they finds the idea of a minion what needs to be fed in order to keep it happy creepy and disturbing. They’d rather get they’s variety fix from hats or something.
I believe you have made this comment before, BRK, but I’m going to make it again here. I wish we could have as many pets as warlocks have minions. Sure the game offers a vast number of pets to tame, however, we can only keep 3 of them. I have never rolled a warlock (so I do not know the total they have), but I know by the time they are level 70, they have more than 3 minions.
So, I /toss 1c into the Blizz wishing well and ask the WoW shrink -er game developer - for more stable slots for hunter pets.
/please with ravager dogs on top…

[...] Sporebats Are Not Win That’s life, we deal with it. Do you see level 70 Gorillas every day? No, you don’t. Great, massive level 70 pink Tallstriders of death? Nope. [...]
Been rolling with a Carrion bird for a tankpet after reading alot of your stuff on the subject of tanking pets. I love it! Screech for the add-holding win!
Have a ghostsaber for my DPS cat. Don’t see many of them at 70 (at least on my server)
I still have the only lvl 70 scarlet tracking hound on my server, and I love him! Bonesnapper is still my favourite pet by far; even if he can’t out-DPS my raptor, he has so much more personality and style.
And hyenas are not hounds, or even related to dogs. :/ Scarlet Crusaders are idiots.
Ironjaw FTW!!
I’d like to make a small correction, if I may. The +7% damage on a windserpent or -10% damage on a turtle is a base number only. It does not include scaling from the hunter’s AP and it does not include the pet’s skills. And because the effect of those two factors are actually quite large, you really can’t just take a measurement from a windserpent and multiply it a couple of times to get a probable number for a turtle. :>
I know, the exact meaning of that +% damage number is a minor point that only matters to someone who obsesses over pets too much. :> But I wanted to bring it up, not because it contradicts BRK’s point — in fact, it strengthens it. This means that the base +% or -% on damage on the pet is less meaningful on its own than the hunter’s stats and equipment and how the hunter chooses to play their pet — which skills they want to give it and what situations they use it in.
The important thing to to understand that almost any pet will be perfectly fine. As BRK says, tame what appeals to you.
I hope Jaerod will read the comments up to this one at least, because BRK seemed to have missed two points here:
1) “current level of 18″
2) “Just trying to maximize my leveling time is all.”
Taking those two in consideration, and assuming it will be a while before Jaerod will get to do Heroic Steamvaults, I’d like to add my two cents here:
1) As said in the post, play with whatever pet you ENJOY playing;
2) Try a boar. Your pet will do less damage, but it will very rarely loose aggro and will tank a little better than a cat. I’ve played with cats from 11-49 and then a boar from 49-62 (current hunter level), and even though I still prefer my cat over the boar, I can’t “afford” to level up with the cat!
3) Don’t try keeping two pets leveled at once: it will seriously degrade your leveling time.
4) The main difference with warlock minions and hunter pets (and I’ve played both classes), is that you don’t get that sense of attachment to the warlock minions as they’re “summoned material”, come and go at will and you even have the option to dispose them in exchange of buffs. As for the hunter pets, they work more as a companion and thus I feel bad whenever I have to let him die. It pains me more a pet death than my own death! It’s as if I was somehow “responsible” for that furry (or some not so furry!) pet!

@Jaerod
Please understand that I do not consider myself, in any way, on par with BRK. I did, however, read your question, “I am curious as to when I should acquire a new pet. I did the typical cat in the dwarf startup zone and have had it all the way to current level of 18 and 17 for the pet. My question is should I be looking for other pets at certain levels…. ,” slightly differently.
It seems to me that you were asking if there are certain pets that are good for certain levels and/or if you should level with a second pet this early, (if so, what pet). So, I offer the following:
While I would absolute agree that every player tame their pet of choice, I do feel that, until pets begin to get dash / dive, boars have an advantage over other pets. I found it frustrating to watch my cat stalk up to its pray while the other hunter’s boar was charging right in for the kill. While boars may not appear to be the coolest… they do have spirit, personality and CHARGE.
Since the change in how pets gain experience, I have found it quite easy to switch-out my cat and my boar to keep both leveling with me. If you want to have early pets up to and though End Game … go ahead!
Ravenstout - Dwarf
Rebel - Springpaw Stalker
Hannibal - Rotting Agam’ar
I was under the impression that for Arena PvP the pet to get was a Scorpion, not a boar.
Might just be me though..
@Ravenstout
You want to know the difference between us, Rav? We have a blog.
Yeah, that’s it. You’re on the ball, know your stuff, try to help out, and don’t dump on people. Just like the vast majority of BRK readers and commenters, you are NOT lesser in any way at all.
You Sporebat owners, on the other hand…
I also have a ghost saber, I love him, the thought of giving him up for any other cat just causes guilt. As for the coolness factor thing…where everyone some days seems to have the pet you do, it shrinks as the game expands. For every one of us that are attached to and keep our pets for the long haul, there are 20 more that dump their prior cool pet for the newest cool pets in the new lands. Stick with it long enough and Hobbes, my Whispurr, Tarby’s Ghost Saber, will all regain their “different” status eventually.
I also think it silly to dump a fully trained pet you’ve had for 50 levels and tame some new beastie in outlands and start over. Add a second pet yes, dump a loyal, well trained, best friend. Not on your life. I get at least one whisper per day telling me outlands pets are better and I’m a “nub” for keeping a lvl 20 cat now that I’m 66. *baffles*
See I’m glad there are some people out there that understand my attachment to my little virtual critters… the other day I had to abandon a raptor who I’d done a lot of good questing with back when I was a lower-level, because I needed the stable slot for pet skills. My kitty and my owl are high level with me and will also never leave me, because I love them dearly <3, so the raptor had to get the boot.
So I went and took him to the prettiest place in Nagrand and gave him a pat and some last food and abandoned him there. There were tears in my eyes as I was doing it. Really there were.
I would never have admitted this to anybody else but my fellow hunters (and my warlock boyfriend… but he thought it was cute) and who knows, maybe I really am a little crazy… but gosh, it’s fun being crazy anyway.
Also I think I maybe need a shirt that says “It’s a hunter thing, you wouldn’t understand”.
I’d buy that Pike XD
Thanks for giving a shout-out to my favorite pet, Ironjaw. I use a token cat for my 5-mans, but when I play solo, I always break out my wolf. I get several tells a week wondering where I got a wolf with that particular color scheme; they never realize that they’ve already killed him to get their Helm of Lupine Grace … his name? Owmyhead, natch
Okay. I’ll bite. What’s wrong with sporebats?
I also believe you should choose the pet that best fits you and your personality. I leveled my hunter long before pets became more ‘normal’, in the land where attack speed was a much bigger factor. I camped Humar the Pridelord for days because I think he is the most unique, uncommon and by far the best looking cat in-game. Sadly, once I reach a high enough level for the cat in badlands (I cant remember his name, please dont murder me. He is the elite one that came with a super fast attack speed, and prowl. ) I placed Humar in the stables waiting for the day pets would become normalized and I could bring him back out to play.
BRK, my current pet is also named Hobbes. Glad to see there are other Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes) fans out there.
I haven’t played my hunter in about 2 and a half years, but he is next on my list of characters that will reach level 70.
One note, you should acquire new pets fairly often. That is, you should tame a learning pet every time they have a pet skill you don’t (or go on a learning quest every so often). You might want Bite 3, instead of Bite 4 sometime, and it is nice to have the flexibility. It is much easier to get them when you are close to the same level.
Also, once you have a favorite pet, also keep your most recent learning pet. When you need a new skill, take your learning pet, and release them back to the wild, just before you train your new learning pet.
Thank You Kindly,

Man I got to say I wasn’t expecting a response let alone my email to be posted! Thanks one and all for the feedback and BRK for dropping some wisdom on my noobish head. The reason for the inquiry was that I talked a RL bud into leaving EQ for WoW. He rolled a warlock and we are in a race to 70. Haven’t decided on what the winner gets yet. Anyway’s thanks for the advice I think me and Snarf are gonna be running buddies for a looong time!
While we’re on the topic…
Why, oh why, is my precious, ferocious, ass-saving Shiarza my “pet” while that cute-but-useless little green parrot someone gave me is a “companion”? I certainly consider my cat as my companion and comrade-in-arms…
I’ve stubbornly kept the same pet from Level 10 - 70. My pet might be common as hell in the starting area (a Snow Leopard) but how many of them do you see at 70? Right… I’ve seen more Humars than Snow Leopards… With my ram mount, I look just like a dwarf… But, my trollish tusks are way more sexay… (yeah, I ran from Durotar to Dun Morogh at level 10)
But, back to the OP’s question, my opinion is that the best ‘leveling’/grinding pet is anything with Screech, ie Carrion Birds, Owls and Bats. Screech’s AOE attack seems to have an additional aggro component which helps in tanking. In some of the more densely packed grinding areas, it helps in grabbing mobs as well. Of the three, I prefer Carrion Birds, since their AC bonus helps when multi-tanking mobs and they have the most flexible diet (meat & fish). However, if you are alright with giving up the AC for a slight increase in DPS, get the Owl. I don’t like Bats because of their fussy diet (fruit and fungus only…)
For your level range, head to Westfall and tame a Greater Fleshripper, which comes (nicely) with Screech 1. Take care to keep your Growl & Screech updated and you should do fine.
Blizz seriously need to give Sporebats more trainable skills. If they had Dive and Bite (and I feel that Venom Sting is a Sporebat-ish talent as well, to simulate the spores) I reckon probably everyone would want them…because from a purely visual point of view, there probably isn’t a cooler pet in the game. They just have no skillz.
BTW, hi BRK! *waves madly*
@Lady-Jess
“I get at least one whisper per day telling me outlands pets are better and I’m a “nub” for keeping a lvl 20 cat now that I’m 66. *baffles*”
I get something similar that /baffles me. I’m a level 25 troll with a ravager (Freakshow) as a pet. (yes, I ran all the way to azuremyst at level 10…. and back at 16 to get the cool green ravager) But several times a day I get tells telling me I’ve been reported for hacking because “U R horde and horde can’t have alliance pets” or “horde can’t get ravager until outlands u r cheater” ?!? /color-me-confused
@Jaerod
I’m an altaholic, so I’ve done a lot of grinding to level 40 or so (when I usually get bored). I’ve gone with boars, owls, ravagers, crocolisks, cats, bears and wolves… loved a few, hated most (mainly for aesthetic reasons or RP reasons), but for a nice grinding pet, as has been said before go with a boar or an owl/carrion bird. If you do a lot of soloing, I say go with the owl, Screech is awesome for holding multiple targets. Leveling with the owl was the fastest I’ve ever done it, but.. (yup, there is a but) the wings do get in the way a lot, making targeting tricky and annoying at times. If you are going to group a lot while leveling, I’d recommend the boar, as has been said, Charge is the only fast attack pre- Dash/Dive. Boars are nice all around pets, and will eat everything (including gnomes
). But I’ve leveled a lot and it really is more about your style of play than anything else. You can tame any pet and it will carry you through till end game, if that’s what you want.
Good Hunting All,
Tazijin and Freakshow
@ Lady,
It’s amazing how many other people want to try to tell you how to play your toon. Anytime I see someone with a ghost saber at higher levels my hat’s off to them. I got one when I was way past that level and just couldn’t stand the pain to level it. That being said back to the topic at hand.
I got the King at level 43..you hunters know what I mean when I say the King. There were many times I took him to a nice quiet place because I wanted to let him loose to get something else. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I leveled an owl and left the King to set for too long. So I finally just bit down and leveled him to 70. I am not usually a cat fan but I do like the King. I don’t care if everyone has one or not. As they say in FMJ. “There are many like it, but this one is mine.”
Level what you like, but make sure to tame others along the way to get the talents to suppliment your main companion.
/hifive Mart & Tazijin
My Dwarf Hunter swam down to Booty Bay, sailed over to Ratchet, then swam up the coast to Durotar and out to Echo Isles, just so he could get a black & orange Tiger. You don’t see too many level 10 Dwarves with them, either
At 60 I went into RFK and tamed a Rotting Agam’ar, then had a hell of a time leveling him up. Melee Hunters FTW!!! But I’ve got more /tells about Cyboarg than any other pet, all along the vein of “Awesome pig!”
My Tiger is still stabled (no way I can abandon him now), which means I have one spare Stable Slot for taming disposable Pets for learning new skills. I know Blizzard will give us more Stable Slots, but I have a horrible feeling they’re saving it for WotLK
I spent my first 45 levels as a MM hunter, before I subscribed to the Gospel of BRK (hallowed be his name). I sadly neglected my pets and their skills, viewing them as a novelty and nothing more.
Thankfully, BRK convinced me that my pet was a vital part of playing, and after respeccing to BM, I underwent some soul-searching to determine my best-fit pet.
Me? A surly dwarf with a big gun (finally made that damned FAR).
My pet? There was only one answer: an ashmane boar. Charge and gore, tanks like a champ, and so ugly that he’s cute. Snuffles and I are a hell of a team, and we don’t fear anything.
@Pike: After you get all the skills you need why not re-tame the same raptor, and say they “came home?” Sure it’ll be a little bit of a pain to level them back up again, but isn’t it worth it?
I’d love one more stable slot..I really would. I’ve got a Warp Stalker for a “tank” pet, though more than anything it’s just for show. My kitty has been with me since level 10 and he’ll be at my side when WotLK releases and I go to 80.
@ Capn John
What a name for your Agam’ar…. Cyboarg!
I thought for three days and nothing fit quite right. I finally went with Hannibal over Old Ironsides… but, Cyboarg… that’s a great one!
I’ve seen exactly 1 hunter with Ironjaw on my server (Nagrand EU) and I must say it is THE prettiest wolf in the game. I’d definitely get him if I wanted a wolf. :o)
I still — at lvl70 — have trusty Fang, a snow leopard from Dun Morogh. I’d love to have a tiger too, they’re really pretty. So many pets, so few stable slots! *sob*
Point no.2
Pets are family.
Isn’t that the truth? Magrathea and I were in an underwater battle that went poorly; and seeing her floating there was just too much. As the tears were running I hit the revive button, but not before taking a screenshot. Sometimes I look at that picture and reflect on myself and wonder at my humanness.
Pike, your raptor story made me tear-up too. A nice NSFW label would have been nice.
Sharing that story kinda influenced me to share mine.
Mingonashoba - I’m with ya there, Maggie and I have been together from 10-70 and I have no doubt we’ll see 80 together too.
Pike is right - “It’s a hunter thing, you wouldn’t understand”.
I’m sure we’re not the only hunter’s with stories like these; are we?
Baetylus & Magrathea of Hyjal
@Tazijin
I had some high level friends summon me to the ghostlands as a level 10 alliance hunter so I could tame a dragonhawk. I got a lot of whispers asking where I got it. I used to tell every one of them a different story: a super rare drop from “Cookie” in the deadmines, I won it as a promotional pet from Blizzard, I got it from the vendor in Undercity, etc., etc.
If they really wanted to know, I’d explain in full, but most didn’t care - not really.
I wouldn’t let a bunch or know-nothing noobcakes with extra weaksauce get you down.
@Capn John
Wow, I have the same pet named Cyboar! Great minds and all that!
I’ve had Kisa (Durotar tiger) since lvl 10. She’s I think the only one of her kind at lvl 70 on our server and part of our guild. My guildies sometimes cry out over vent if they see her going down in health. I’ve wanted to tried out other pets to be tanks, more dps, etc. but I know how Kisa works. I can do pretty much anything with a cat pet, I’ve pulled off miracle manuvers in instances with her simply because I’ve had her so long. So I guess there is something to say for having one pet for your entire game life.
Yeah, first post, but been reading a while - pets are worth leaving lurkdom for.
I’ve had two pets in various forms since level 10. Vryth started as a Nightsaber from Azuremyst, but even then I had my eye set on that lovely Ghostsaber. Once I got Alvar, I abandoned Vryth… And later picked him back up in the form of a carrion bird. First the blue-gray one from Desolace, then later as a Roc from Tanaris. I love watching my big red pet go Big and Red!
I still have both Alvar (stuck in the early 50s, poor guy) and Vryth (a little higher than Alvar), and am currently trying an Owl on for size as Vryth’s next incarnation. Still, I think the two-headed red carrion is the way to go. And no, the owl is still just Owl. If I name him, I have to keep him! =(
Been thinking of trading my “temp pet” for a temp Ravager… the nice orange and black kind. I feel guilty for not trying one, seeing as the low levels are from my “homeland” and all.
@Gyara “She’s… part of our guild. My guildies sometimes cry out over vent if they see her going down in health.”
I was reminded of just how awesome my guildies are when, on xmas day when my boyfriend signed on briefly to fetch christmas presents from the Org tree, one of our guildies was online with his brother looking over his shoulder, and they said: “Merry Christmas to you both, and a huge shout out to Wilbur!” Everyone loves my piggy, and appreciates that he is easily the most uber member of our guild.
In fact, I think the only member of my guild who doesn’t appreciate my affection for the little boar is my boyfriend. He just doesn’t get why I need to spend a good few minutes after I sign on feeding Wilbur treats. I’ve been offline for a few days, he needs christmas cake to make him feel better!
Awwww reading this thread made me feel a bit less like a total sap. I’ve watched the hubby and the kids play hunters while I maxed out my rogue, then a mage, then various other characters at lower levels just to try them, and finally I got around to trying out hunters. The class is totally fun to solo with, and I’ve found that I can charge through more content with my hunter than any other class I’ve leveled so far. My highest level hunter is almost 30, but at 10 when I gained my new beast taming spell I got in my head that I wanted a white bear for him so I picked up Mangeclaw in the northern pass of dun morogh. I like that darn bear so much, I got it on a second hunter alt on another server and I rolled an orc hunter to play with a friend on yet a third server, and ran my level *almost 11* character through all the evil things from Sepulcher through Hillsbrad, Arathi, Wetlands, and finally Dun Algaz and the fun things the dwarves did to me in Loch Modan trying to get to that little corner of the Northern Pass so i could get *my* pet. (my first experience with a pvp server as well lol) I had totally broken gear from all the corpse runs, and i had to fist fight the snow leopards and a couple of boars there in the area just to get that last bit of xp needed to hit level 11 so i could tame Mangeclaw.
It just seemed so funny to me that I was that attached to one particular bear, to go to all that time and trouble to get it for a new character. I’m glad to see i’m not alone in having attachment issues in a video game!
Question though, am I the only one that has made macros so my characters can scream “HELP!! THERE’S A BEAR CHASING ME!!!” and “AHHH , HE’s GONNA EAT ME!!!” when he falls behind me while running just so i can giggle?
I have an Ironjaw wolf. His name is Daggermaw. I give him huggles and cuddles. And his fur is such a wonderful colour. But he sits in the stable because I love my cat too much.
The worst thing about playing a hunter is the stable. I’m not sure why we are limited to three slots. The only solution I’ve found to this dilemma is to create as many hunters for however many pets I want to tame. I now have a server full of hunters whom will keep me playing for at least another 3 years!
I see I am not alone. Both my hunters have briefly tamed owls to play with, but the flappy-ness of an owl gets on my nerves. I always rotate back to my cats and my boars. One hunter leveled through Outlands using a Frostsaber Pridewatcher, and then leveled up a boar for soloing useage.
My alliance hunter will be doing the opposite. I wanted an RFK boar, since my troll hunter had abandoned one earlier, so, at 30 I decided to run Yazmin in after a boar… I died 5 diffrent times trying to get that piggy. I didn’t have an escort to get to the pig, did it all by myself.
No, I didn’t go for the black/blue Rotting Agam’ar. I went for the brown/silver Agam’ar boar. I had to spend a little time leveling him up, but he was worth it, and has been an almost constant leveling companion. He’s also cute, and I have yet to run into another hunter with that particular look of boar.
I happened to get lucky and run across a certain black male lion that lives under a tree in the Barrens one night, so I raced back, stabled the boar and ran back to tame him. Black hair, bright green eyes, and a wicked personality… he decided his own name - that of a demon to be precise.
These two should be with me for quite some time. Now all I have to do is get the cat from 48 to 70 - once Yaz and the boar hit 70.
Tzia - Troll Hunter of Quel’dorei
Ruka - Frostsaber Pridewatcher
Truffles - Ashmane Boar
Yazmin - Draenei Hunter of Echo Isles
Xavi - Agam’ar Boar
Japhrimel - aka Humar the Pride Lord
So, a little late post here but I just recently discovered BRK and this post in particular just made me want to comment.
I have a bloodelf hunter, Tevbryn, who has an unusual pet for a Horde hunter, especially a blood elf. My pet, yes, my friend, is Daigotsu - a black and green Ravager from the depths of Bloodmyst Isle. I had to fight (and die) my way through Auberdine, Ashenvale, Darkshore and Azuremyst to get him at level 17 but it was worth it. The coolness factor, the skills and his shear viciousness make him a perfect companion. I even braved the run to Redridge from Grom’gol to tame Bellygrub so he could have Gore 4. Daigotsu is my best friend in the game. Guildies come and go but my vicious green companion is forever. None of the other pets I had before him match my BE’s personality so well and I would never get rid of him. Pike is right, “It’s a hunter thing, you wouldn’t understand”.
