Recruitment, an Update
So far, the responses to our advertising have been extremely positive. All the applicants have followed the requested format and have provided the requisite armory links and gear lists. While the quality of the writing isn’t always what we’d like to see - paragraphs are your friends, people - at least the ability to follow basic directions has been shown to be consistent. AC prides itself on our ability to coordinate, so constructing an application as we require it is essential.
One person has already transfered, was interviewed, did two heroic instances with the officers, and was offered and accepted a position in the guild. Holy priest FTW, we’re all totally thrilled with this addition. If nothing else comes of our recruitment process, personally we consider it a success already.
All the other applications are being reviewed and interviews are being scheduled. We have people of every class/spec we requested, except no Shaman. Are you an Elemental Enhancement Shammy looking for 25-man raiding? Check out our Recruitment! page and read what’s going on with our guild. Even if you’re not a Shammy, read our ad; perhaps we can provide you with the kind of raiding experience you’re looking for.
The new year is approaching and that means raiding is totally about to resume, and it’s none too soon for us. The Squeekie Priestie has put Gruul’s, SSC, and Void Reaver on the calendar and we’d kiss her bespeckled toes if we didn’t live so far away. /cheer!

Oh you guys are sneakier than the devil!
Seriously, I like the way you openly recruit on your respective blogs which ensures that the players that you attract are at least somewhat intelligent and have the foresight to do research on their class. Personally, I don’t plan on moving but if I did, I would have put in an app.
Good job.

The simple fact that I wear that exact badge[with a silver wreath around it] on my uniform every day makes this the coolest entry ever!!

Minor correction:
We’re mostly looking for an Enhancement shaman ATM, not elemental.
Still, all apps will be looked at.

It would be nice to apply to you guys, but I’ve never been able to find a guild that can progress past Kara and you want SSC ready raiders.

Fio, I’m a mid level enhance shaman.
Although I am -way- under level and not anything close to viable to join you guys I had a question.
What are you looking for when you ask for an enhancement shaman?
What specificly does enh give you that the others don’t?
My curiosity comes from my forum inspired belief that people do not really want shamans to do anything other than heal.
Dammerung.
p.s. oh and to drop the ever lovely WF, GoA, MS etc totems.

Good luck on your recruitment! Glad to see it’s working out for you so far

@Dammer -
Honestly, we view it as a utility slot.
For example, we’ve got a great Arms warrior in our guild who raids with us. His DPS is good for an arms warrior, but we could get someone with more straight DPS in his slot. The attraction to taking him along rather than someone else (apart from the fact that we like him :P) is the +4% physical damage debuff that Arms warriors can throw up. So if he’s doing around 600 dps, and is for the most part keeping that debuff up, then the rogue who is doing 800 dps owes about 30 of his DPS to the arms warrior. The hunter doing 1000dps owes about 40 of his DPS to the arms warrior. Add it up, and if there’s even 5-6 physical DPSers in the raid, that arms warrior is responsible for anywhere from 200-300 more dps than he is personally doing.
In the same way, an Enhancement shaman does the same sort of thing for the DPS in his group. Windfury/strength of earth. Or maybe grace of air if in the group with a tank. Sure, other shamans can drop those totems, but they’re both less effective due to spec, and doing so gimps the casting shaman.
That’s why we’d like to have one or two Enhancement shamans around. Same with ret paladins - all the paladins in the raid could toss up a judgment on the boss, and the ret paladin in melee would keep ALL of the judgments going.
Raw DPS is nice. Respectable DPS while providing a TON of utility to either your group, or even better, everyone else in the raid, is awesome.

@Fio
Thanks. That is exactly I was asking.

That’s why he’s the GM and we just write a silly hunter-blog.

I am actually shocked I haven’t heard anything from you guys. Considering how much you seemed to like me on TJ’s Comments :p

“Raw DPS is nice. Respectable DPS while providing a TON of utility to either your group, or even better, everyone else in the raid, is awesome.”
And raw dps with a bunch of utility is what your enhance will give you
A good enhance should be top 5 on single target fights, and be on par or better with everyone but rogues and geared fury wars, and maybe the occasional skilled hunter.
