Just thought I'd leave a note saying that I just used these beginner's tactics to kite Stitches from the middle of Duskwood, into Darkshire, and back. Got some help from the guards and a couple other players, too, but I did get to loot him when all was said and done. Thanks for the movie, and keep up the good work.

I am a regular reader of BRK, and even at lvl63, I am still learning new tricks. I was born into WoW as a NE warrior (he was much more handsome than something with tusks), but always had a secret preference for hunter.

Thanks for all the great tips. You make the deep and complex world of hunters a little brighter. :)

Higher, as in 50 is higher than 10.
A hunter cannot ever have a pet that has a level higher than their own.

Some say they have tamed "higher level" pets.
Being curious I ask them how, as it's only possible to tame pets at your level or less.
If it was possible to tame higher level pets, one would go out and tame King Bangalash at level 12 or Trachela at 15...

I'm a little more on the uncaring side, I guess. With my method I have autoshot one time just about every pet I tamed. Meh. I gave em some meat and it seemed that all was forgotten.

@BRK it just struck me that your voice reminds me of Red Green.

I like to tame with nothing but love. No trap, No shot at all (tame range is about the same as bow shot range). I have never had a problem taming a new pet (well except taming that level 28 worg when I was level 27).

Heck, my hunter has no assurance that it is going to work at all. But she is looking for a companion, not a servant.

Thank You Kindly,

It might be worth making a not-so-noob hunter's guide as well. It may even be in the making. It would be worthwhile to let people know they can use some tricks to tame higher level mobs. I always train by dropping a freezing trap and then hitting the mob with concussive shot. If done properly, you can train a mob and take only one or two hits.
Sadly, I've watched hunters tame higher level pets with the mob hitting them during the whole channeling time. That gets painful with the decreased armor.

I was well into my 30s and really struggling with my Hunter and Pet not holding Aggro, meanwhile my brother's Mage blew right by me. I'd forgotten all about Talent Points, and never learned Growl past lvl 10 or any of the old pre 1.8 Pet Skills. I was a sad little Hunter who learned much of this stuff the really hard way.

For those people using Mouselook (the only way to play, IMHO ;) I recommend rebinding Strafe Left & Right to A & D. They're more natural resting positions for your shorter fingers when your longer, middle finger is on the W-forward key. To keep three fingers poised over Q, W, & E requires you to arch your hand a lot more and that's just asking for trouble. Not in-game, IRL; it's all about being as ergonomic as possible.
