The Good and the Neck Punch

neckpunch.jpgGruul’s Lair one-shotted, the whole thing. Movie for a BRK Hunter Guide captured and ready to be narrated. That’s all good, right there. /score!

The the guild goes to Doom Walker because we’re feeling uppity. First shot we get him to 1%. You’re reading that right, 1%. We don’t come close on either of the next two tries. Visions of the Barrel-Blade Longrifle danced in our heads, but we were most cruelly denied.

That’s a punch right in the neck, you know what we’re saying? D@mn, it’s gonna be awhile before we recover from this one.

    Ah 1%!
I really hate that one, wat is the odds tbh, we did kara yesterday, got curator to 1% and wiped, but woped his ass afterwards. But its pretty darn fustrating looking on a boss HP having 1%, nor good felling:<

The scene: 25-man raid. Near the end of a Tier 5 boss fight. Boss at 1%, and then all of a sudden the main tank dies. Then the other tanks die.
The enrage timer has been hit.

Within seconds almost the entire raid has been annihilated.

The surviving mage, hunter, and warlock resign themselves to a painful death.

Suddenly, a flash… a cooldown add-on politely informs that Presence of Mind and Arcane Power have finished their cooldowns.

The mage watches the hunter die, then the warlock. He activates his Big Red Button, watches a PoM Pyro crit for 6.7k. Hitting Arcane Missiles, the raid boss runs to the mage…

And dies. To the last tick of Arcane Missiles. At the feet of the Arcane Mage. The lone survivor of the entire raid.

    That’s awesome.

I’ve experienced quite some 1-2% wipes aswell.. even in the same scenario as BRK where we weren’t able to get near to that point the next attempts.
Stubborn as we are we still keep trying ofcourse but often we just come back next raidday and get our revenge… still i can have a bad night after we had to leave a boss standing :/
Frustration is often vented on my blog the day after :)

“That’s a punch right in the neck” that’s good, real good…. gonna have to find a way to put that in a macro for those criticals that make you say Whoa!

    Brotik,

You can use it when me and my horde army take over Halaa! I got dusts to turn in. Now let me have Halaa!

    /mutter Allies…

1%. How I loathe that number. We had the Maiden of Virtue down to 1% last night. Just. Couldn’t. Kill. Her.

    Ugh.

Woot! 1% on your first attempt!?!?!?! That’s downright impressive. I tip my hat to teh BRK and the AC.

    1%, how about losing it with a /roll of 95 to a 99? I was a sad panda.

  13. Ashtaar on January 16th, 2008 12:31 pm

I have a few of those from the old times (pre-BC).

Feral Druid (before they were cool) rolling a 99 on the Ferocious Bite book the weekend it came out… to lose to a perfect 100 from the other resto Druid. (many sad kitty faces were made in guild)

Or BigRedDragon (Vael) doing his damdest to disrupt our run, blowing healers, then going to the wrong tank… finally down to 1%, last tank drops, raid starts blowing left right and center… Finally tally once the dust clears? 39 dead Alliance, 1 dead dragon, 1 dancing, bubbled dwarf Holy pally.

Also on the Hunter, running the old Survival cookie in Naxx, on the Instructor… pull is sloppy but we recover, fight’s going a little long, his adds are slowly dying. Last Resuv tank drops at 1%, raid goes nuts, Resuv runs right to the hunter. I pop Deterrence and pray… 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 16 secodns or so in, Resuv drops, Hunter preens. (He one-shots any player)

And finally, throwing the misery and company, Leo has been thumbing his nose at our current raid. So many 1%s and the stupid elf just won’t die. I think we had three back to back 1%s this week… and I’m thinking the raid’s ready to skip him for a bit. Guess he gets the last laugh for now… *shakes fist*
