Quest Addons

BRKTestBed has presented us with the old, Jeebuz the Quest Window Stinks-problem that we remember from our BRK-leveling days. Fortunately, there are a ton of solutions nowadays for this.

We really like the combination of Doublewide and Lightheaded. Doublewide puts the quest-list in a separate window from the quest-text. Superhandy. Then Lightheaded searches the WoWHead database, fetchs all the quest-info, then makes another widow right beside Doublewide.

Frankly, we’ll never level again without this functionality. Both addons are now linked on our sidebar. Great stuff.

Yep I use lightheaded but to make that addon even better you need tom tom. That addon lets the “blue” location points become clickable and puts a waypoint on your map, and a arrow pointing to that waypoint on your minimap.
I have seen doublewide but downloaded it yet…maybe later.

I love Lightheaded and TomTom. Hate Doublewide though. The combo of DoubleWide and Lightheaded = Lleu can’t see his toon. We don’t like this.

    Lleu and Slappy

Technically, Lightheaded doesn’t download wowhead in real time. It’s a snapshot of the database. This means you should update it regularly.

I use both Doublewide and Lightheaded and love them. I just about fell off my chair laughing when I opened the quest info window for the first time and heard the “drawbrige” sound effect.

In addition my map add on Cartographer will let you click on the co-ords in Lightheaded and it will set a waypoint arrow in the center of your screen leading right to the quest giver or area.

That saves a lot of time when questing, you just need to remember to slow down a little if you enjoy game content.

“quest helper” is also a really good add-on

Thanks for the tip. Just downloaded Lightheaded and TomTom. I am grinding Org rep to get a Wolf mount - so the rep awards on my screen shows me which quests to do! Not to mention all the other helpfull info.

Try TourGuide as well. http://www.tekkub.net/tourguide.htm (or try http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=7674 if you’re as paranoid as I am about sites you don’t know). It adds a fairly well put together levelling guide to the WoW UI! Interfaces with Cartographer or Tomtom for way points. I don’t follow it slavishly, but use it as a checklist.

Lightheaded and Cartographer really helped me out a lot. It easily halves the time it takes me to level. Yes, the game is about exploring, but I don’t want to be in northern barrens when I should have been in southern barrens!

Lightheaded also works with cartographer for the waypoints. I find it easier than tomtom personally

I must be archaic for still alt + tabbing whenever I need help with a quest.

Those two are sooo 2007. Questhelper is where it’s at. It plots out the best route to take while questing and marks all the quest locations. If it’s a mob that is in several locations, it highlights all those areas when you mouse over the quest icon on your map. I use it with monkeyfu for when I need to read questlog detials. Doublewide takes up to much screen space for me.

You guys should also check out questhelper. It’s an ace addon and tells you where you have to go for each quest, who you have to kill, and also maps all your quests out for easy circuits of the area you are in.

The Questhelper mod author says: “If you’re not using the US-English client, then this AddOn won’t work for you.”

Does that mean us EU players are shit out of luck? Bah.

I mean, my client thingy is English but it’s GB-English. Not that it should matter but that warning was pretty specific. *sigh* I want it, the addon sounds damn cool. :(

    you gotta try mobmap (http://mobmap.de/index.php?language=english)

    it rules!

    Lighteheaded: The Widow Maker.

Oh. My. God. Sadly its always been in the back of my mind about improving my quest log functionality to save all the alt-tabbing but I’m glad to say I’m finally sorted.

That Lightheaded integrates with Cartographer and puts a waypoint on the minimap as well as an arrow and distance info on the UI was the icing on the cake. Mind you, if anyone else is new to this addon combo you’ll need to delve into the Cartographer settings to enable Waypoints - it wasn’t on by default for me which caused a little confusion.

Thanks BRK, nice find and advert.

    nquestlog

    Awesome little quest addon.

Makes the default interface go away and provides a translucent background with quest progress summary - and integrates with lightheaded.

Add me to the list of people loving Lightheaded + Doublewide + Cartographer for levelling.

I might have to check out that Tour Guide mod; yeah, the first time through it was fun to discover stuff, but on alts I just want to level quickly.

Check out Bayi’s Extended Questlog same look as double wide but has some other really cool features.
