Eenie Meenie Meinie Moe
Pick a hunter-pet by the toe. If it hollers, it’s probably a Druid. Oh how does one spell Meinie?
/bow
Heroic Arc cleared and that Naruu quest complete, finally. Heroic Shattered Halls and its timed-quest are all that’s left of the three Naruu quests.
No AoE at all: two druids, rogue, BM hunter and our resident keg-meister holy pally. We lost every roll on everything that dropped. It was quite remarkable, actually. Lost the primal nether, a fire-resist leatherworking pattern, and ever greenie that hit the floor.
Watch us finally have enough warlocks to attempt Magtheridon tonight and we won’t have the Champion of the Naruu quest-series done yet. /sigh
Edit: It’s Tuesday, not Wednesday. No AC raid tonight. /lfg heroic sh

Once I mistook a druid at the AH in Stormwind for a hunter’s cat.
Good thing we don’t have a raid tonight.
Or if we do, no one told THIS lock and she ain’t showing up.
So yay, you’ve still got time.

GL with maggy!
I’ve had that too, horde side and I have the rake as a pet, doing a group quest once and suddenly one of the party asked “should we invite him?” Me and the other member didn’t know what was going on untill she said “should we invite that feral druid thats been following us?” Makes you wonder if they thought I was going around without a pet, no-wonder hunters get a bad rep, huntardism is in the eye of the beholder
The heroics have been nerfed bad:(
Heroic shattered halls is probably the easiest heroic there is now, and probably one of the best in terms of badge / time ratio. Both botanica and shattered halls are kind of easy and straight forward and require no CC, and give 5 badges for minimal effort
Oh and this is hsunda, a hunter once upon a time. I no longer play my hunter now, it’s all my druid who I change specs between feral and resto depending on what I am raiding (I run kara as OT and then weekend SSC /TK as resto )
S-halls isn’t as bad as it seems. Just make sure when you run the gauntlet that you kill the adds quick (quick enough and you can drink!) instead of trying to run all the way to the end and then kill them. Like I did. lol
Maybe you’ll get The Bladefist too. That thing deserves bragging rights!
Err just to make sure – that last paragraph threw me off – you are aware the trials of the naaru are no longer a prereq for doing Magtheridon right?
@Lovelace
Just curious what kind of group makeup and gear you had that let you glide through heroic shattered halls without any crowd control.
If you want a complete gear list here it is -

Shoulder – Gladiator’s Dragonhide Spaulders – 2 +12 stam gems

Chest – Heavy Clefthoof Vest – +6 stats enchant, 3 +12 stam gems

As you can see, the gear is mostly crafted gear or otherwise easily obtainable gear .. the thing is, the gear above focuses mostly on stamina, as is evident with the stacking of solid stars of elune everywhere. Add to that some decent armor since every piece of gear has a “Green” armor rating and a trinket with armor on it ..
That said I am a stamina whore. In my 5 mans (which is pretty much all I do) I tend to go with a paladin healer, a warlock, a mage and a shadow priest .. that generally gives me blessing of kings, blood pact and fortitude. All the best stam buffs in the game in my 5 mans, and I can get 20k HP and 29k armor easily. Besides, this group make up gives me sheeps and mind controls, easily the best humanoid CC and the most you would need for any heroic, and probably the best class synergy (curse of elements, shadow vulnerability , misery etc etc) for any 5 man.
The basic assumption is you have smart DPS who all assist-train one target that is pre-determined and everyone follows a certain kill order which is also pre-determined instead of randomly picking up targets to fire at. What I do is mark a target with skull (/script SetRaidTargetIcon(”target”, 8);) and once skull goes down, mark another target with skull. My UI shows the target of each party member, making it easy for me to pick out if some DPS is targetting something other than the mob marked skull.
However, as far as I am concerned the key to heroic shattered halls, even without a mage for sheeps and shadow priests for mind controls, is having a paladin for blessing of salvation. Let’s say for a second I have thorns on myself, which means there is some amount of reflective damage going on. And let’s also assume I have retribution aura on, for more reflective damage. I generally never have to worry about DPS threat, since that is single target (the one marked skull) but healing threat. Paladins of course have the least amount of threat generated, innately by class mechanics and to top it off, with salvation on them.
The only time I have *ever* completed heroic shattered halls with a priest healer is when I had a ret paladin in the group give her salv. I will admit, I have tried it couple of times without salvation on the healer, and have had bad experiences of atleast 1 mob running towards the healer. Again, with a paladin, you have Blessing of Protection and bubble, but with a squishie healer all you have is one dead healer.
Holding agro? If possible CC the casters, if not, get everyone on you using some line of sight, and then swipe spam. Tab, swipe, tab, swipe. Since you are never rage starved, I can go back to my skull target and cast a couple of mauls without having to worry about rage. WTB Spell Reflect by the way.
I tanked heroic Arc for the attunment quest for Lamaa the other day. I still owe Diyami and Francois a heroic shattered halls run..
To add to a few things, I generally have a list of paladin healers that I enjoy running with, because as far as I am concerned, the relationship between the tank and the healer has a huge say on how a dungeon run goes. DPS is just merely DPS, and all I care about is if they focus their fire on the target marked skull. If I find someone targetting something other than the skull, I just yell in party chat, and if they continue doing that, guess what, hey it’s just DPS, easily replaced. I am sure there are like 5 hunters and 4 rogues in the LFG channel for every single heroic every single minute.
Coming back, if you have worked with the healer on couple of easy heroics before (UB, SP, Mech) both the tank (me) and the healer have a good idea of each others’ play styles, such as knowing when to stop for the healer to drink, the speed at which I pull etc etc .. the healer also has a rough idea of when to cast heals, because trust me, to a great extent, atleast in heroic shattered halls, timing of heals is extremely important. If the heal lands even a second earlier, BAM, all the mobs run towards the healer and I am forced to use challenging roar. The healer should also know what kind of damage I will be taking etc etc.
So yeah, I would say the only real key to my heroic shattered halls runs are me running with a good holy paladin that is familiar with my play style and non retarded DPS.

This should be able to give you an idea of my gear though .
oops I just realized the “there are like 5 hunters and 4 rogues in the LFG channel for every single heroic every single minute.” could probably be taken as offensive to the author of the blog …
Sorry,I didn’t mean it in that sense. It’s just that I specifically ask the DPS to take it slow (which means even if the hunter has not turned his pet’s growl off, it doesn’t matter since growl is not a taunt) .. if they are too trigger happy, their fault and loss, not mine.
Prot pally + one and a half to two healers = no crowd control and completion before the first axe falls.
Priest healer here. Ran H-SH with a partial pug. Druid tank, mage, rogue and hunter. Did the whole thing with 2 wipes (on accidental pulls on trash mobs). One shotted every boss (I thought we’d have problems with Kargath).
