If you aren't deadset on staying BM, I would suggest you try MM. I've arena'ed with every spec and MM is by far my favorite. Granted, I miss angry hunter time, but skills like Scatter Shot and Traquilizing shot have saved my ass far more times than anything from BM or Survival. As long as you are speccing differently for arenas and raiding, I suggest you try it out at least once. My 2v2's rating was hovering around 1490-1530 before I respecced. In last weeks 10 games, we went from 1530-1580. (My partner is a SL/SL Lock.)

I think the improved aspect of the monkey is a mistake. I hardly ever use monkey anymore. Its only really any good against Rogues and feral druids, and only if you plan on melee-ing them, which is generally a bad idea. Dodge against any other char is a waste and down right undesirable against a warrior (overpower). When I start arena I'm in Hawk. If I see a team thats gonna drain or take a long time I switch to Viper and if I see noone (stealthed) I pop Monkey. (ok it might be a mage, or a nelth, but its more than likely a rogue or a cat druid).

N00b hunter but some things I've learnt to be important in Arenas. Mainly done 3v3s so not sure how it would translate to 2v2s.

Pallys are annoying. They take forever to kill and then the bubble and heal up while his friend(s) tear your team a new one. Now, we give him Viper Stings to entertain him and go kill someone else instead. For the really annoying ones, I sick Frostbite on him just to annoy him while we focus fire down the rest of the team.

Dispellers who remember they have dispel need more care. Rank 1 Viper Stings are your friends.

Watch out for teams with locks. Besides the 139849856436 ways of Fearing/Coiling/Seducing/whatever you, that healthstone he gave his friends can turn the tide of battle.

I'm not sure on the effectiveness of Thick Hide. Pets (at least for me) tend to be left alone as they focus fire on you instead. So, damage tends to be from AE (which Avoidance and Resistances will mitigate greatly). Focused Fire looks to be the better option for Tier 2.

I'll go with Catlike Reflexes over FI anyway, since it also has the dodge bonus to yourself. FI will proc at most 1 time (in a 2v2 situation) and your team member could be dead/cc'ed reducing the effectiveness of FI further. If you dropped Thick Hide, Catlike Reflexes will also compensate (to a degree) in the event someone DOES go for your pet.

I'll question the effectiveness of Spirit Bond, but I think you already know that...

Yup, megan is right, that Bestial Swiftness is huge. Aside from that I'd say that the 20 in your MM spec is more important.

Now, I'm still fairly noobish in arena pvp as well so I'm not laying down uber-BM pvp spec law, just sharing what's worked for me so far.

In MM I took 5/5 in Mana efficency cause you're going to run out and I took Improved Stings over Mortal Shots. Since its very important to run healers out of Mana as quickly as possible the Improved Stings are awesome. At the higher levels you'll face people with super resilence anyway which will lessen the effectiveness of crits anyway. Plus you'll be kiting, kiting, and then um, you'll be kiting, so having your best kiting shot as effective as possible is a good thing.

Uber-BM pvp hunters feel free to lay the smack down on my suggestions.

I'm the same as BRK on this one, I'm a PVP noobcake, and it kills me when I do my 10 arenas for the week. I know for sure that my current spec is not best for pvp, but I don't see respeccing twice a week just to do 10 games and then back to raid spec. So I suffer through 10 games, get a 50% win/loss, and move on to other pve affairs.

Bestial Swiftness, work it in. Arena is considered "outdoors" and the mobility of your pet is a huge part of your DPS. I can't count how many times I've LOS'd a Hunter's pet that had flared up Intimidation---by the time the pet reached me and landed the stun, I was safe behind a pillar and the Hunter couldn't take advantage of it.
