Back In The Raiding Saddle Again
Our guild’s first serious attempt at Void Reaver results in success. Hooray! We didn’t goof around and bring our PvP-spec to this fight, no sir. We dutifully spent the cash and brought MQoSRDPS to this bad boy. As such, we are very pleased with our WWS results, (as Deimos).
Had we known we would be given a Shammy in our party, we would’ve skipped Efficiency; those mana-regen totems rock. We decided to go with Efficiency today as we knew we were going to have an SV hunter in the raid, so the rogues should be pretty happy with Expose Weakness and not miss our Improved Hunter’s Mark too much, if at all.
AC is now 1/4 in The Eye! Unfortunately, the GM and the GMette had family issues and were unable to attend.
We do NOT want to be the one who breaks it to the Squeekie Priestie that she missed this. No. Way.

Grats on getting VR down! From my experience another 10 or so kills and he should be coughing up those pants of his.
Was there a shammy outdpsing you? He didn’t have as much “on the job, on the mob” time, but when he did he was motoring.
Grats on the VR kill!
Awesome. well done AC
My guild has been knocking this guys down for about a month now
Easy fight when you know what ur doing (hence why hes also called Loot reaver)
I recommend the VR alarm addon…makes avoiding those arcane bolts a lot easier.
Me thinks BRK is a jerk for not taking ImpHM.
and he has the nerve to call ME selfish…
@stoop
The shaman did have more dps but at the same time overall did 100,000 less damage. I don’t know this fight so I’m sure what movement, if any, may be involved or if he had to do some healing but maybe if had more time doing damage he might have tied or outdone BRK.
@BRK
Come on man take ImpHM. Besides I’m pretty sure it stacks with EW since they’re coming from different sources.
@sonvar
I’m just surprised to see a Shaman that high on the chart. My guild is still mucking about in Kara (got our first prince kill the other night) so these high end raids are beyond my scope of knowledge. I did have the very nice “I had no idea Hunters did that kind of damage” quote from a mage in our guild, so I’ve been feeling good about myself.
Except for yourself and the Shammy, your entire guild is about 200 DPS short of where it should be.
You have 2 rogues and an Arms warrior in that raid, and 2 warrior tanks. They should be given windfury totem from a resto shammy. It’s crazy not to.
A hearty congratulation on the VR kill to everyone in AC. T5 shoulders are really nice. 2 of our first 3 VR kills we got double hero token drops, so our hunters and locks are happy campers, me included (lock T5 shoulders are wicked looking).
Next up should be Solarian, so do yourself a favor and have EVERYONE in the raid get Solarian Alaram. Turns the whole screen blue when you are the bomb. Makes the fight seriously easy. Once the raid can avoid wiping everyone with that bomb mechanic, she is easy mode.
@BRK
I like the name for Hobbes “Aristocat”
Grats BRK!
Our guild just put ZA on farm and we downed Lurker 2 weeks ago. We’ve had some good attempts on Hydross but have yet to kill they guy. Those transitions are a killer sometimes. We took a night off and killed Doomwalker and I got his gun!! We then headed over to TK to take a shot at the “Loot Reaver”. We didn’t kill him but gave it a good go. This weekend we expect Hydross and the Reaver to die. I think I will link your wws report to our forums so that the guildies can see what is needed, if you don’t mind.

While the bottom 2-3 dps are starting to get low, most of their dps is fine for starting T5 content. Another 200 dps would but the majority of the 900-1200 range, which is Vashj/Kael killing dps.
@stoop
Ele shams are moderately uber in late t4/early t5 content (they’re pretty good after that, but it’s hard to hit 1st/2nd place on the meters once melee gets high dps weapons). He also has the advantage that he has no dps cycle or anything. Ele dps has a balls to the walls On position, and a dps at all Off position. So anytime he can stop for 2+ seconds to get a cast off, he’s putting in his max dps.
Bleh, a “no dps at all Off position”
@wolfstalker
Resto shamans REALLY good at buffing caster/healer groups, and mediocre/ok at buffing melee groups. They do not have improved wf/agi/str totems. So your solution is to do the latter? People like you need to stop looking at shamans as some kind of wf granting god and actually take a look at what they would be best at buffing.
I could see maybe putting the elemental shammy with melee if he’s 40/0/21, but the resto shammy is definitely better off with mana users. Talents + 2 piece T4 bonus = ~70 mp5 for the group from mana spring totem. Oddly enough, my shammy was grouped with 3 rogues and a hunter in Gruul’s last night, so I ended up dropping windfury. Of course, the top of the WWS report was full of rogues, and even then the hunter in my group was #2 in damage.
BRK, you guys should look into recruiting an enhance shammy or two; they have that name for a reason.
Grats on the take down!
How weird is it that Phobos’ pet’s name is “Hobbes” . . .

Actually, people like you need to realise that there is actually no point taking rogues or DPS warriors to a raid unless you are planning on giving them windfury.
There is no way wrath of air totem gives anywhere near the DPS increase to casters that Windfury (even untalented) gives to melee. It’s something like 15% DPS increase alone to warriors and rogues.
And it’s not like I’m biased here, I play a hunter.
