Updates and Idiocy

contact.jpgBook Deal: Fell through, the lawyers and accountants couldn’t agree. We cannot talk about it any more than that just in case that gaggle of goof-offs decide to quit being sober and actually get their acts together. But if anybody knows a publisher who’s looking for an unpublished and untested amateur writer, point them here. We’re free.

WoWInsider: We’ve made a deal with one of the editors there in that he’ll perform a job similar to the one TJ has been providing here. We’ll send him the text of our post, he’ll format it, grab a picture, and schedule it for publication. We should be getting a BRK on WoWInsider post done once per week again, to h3ll with the company’s firewall. /rawr!

Jump Shot Movie: Recorded and in production, bumped ahead of Gruul, a Magtheridon celebration, Lurker, and a PvP movie with which we weren’t very happy anyway. Our movie-making takes a lot of time, time that our PvPing has been consuming.

Guild: We lost our main prot Pally tank as he was unhappy with his perception of the status quo. Luckily we have an “extra” holy pally who just jumped at the chance to tank SSC. The guild is gonna gear him up and slap his little plate butt into the rotation as fast as they can.

Moral of the story is that if you’re unhappy with your role in your guild, tell someone. They might be able to help you, they might not, but at least you might have a place to come back to if you work with your guild leadership and they just cannot make things right. Pull a, “I’m leaving sorry goodbye,” routine, and you just may find your old position unavailable to you in case things in your new guild fall through, and your alts asked to depart with you.

Face: We had our contacts in the wrong eyes for 5 1/2 hours today. Our lenses were wrecking havoc in our sockets and it never even occurred to us that we might have screwed up their order. We are a noob; worn contacts since the 7th grade and we can still screw it up.

Jump shot movie, eh? I’ve always wanted to see what that actually looked like…I have an idea of what it might be, but having a reference for it will be very useful indeed.

Bummer about losing a member. We know the feeling.

Hey bro if your particular vision issue is eligible, you should look into getting Lasik. I was very very nearsighted. After going to a Domestic Violence call where I fought for about 5 min with a dude high on meth who truely believed I was there to kill him, I decided I needed to ditch the glasses. After finally getting the guy cuffed, my uniform was torn, my radio ripped off, and my glasses across the room (miraculously unbroken). However I couldn’t see anything. I knew that there was a glock handgun in the other room (wife told us as we got there) but if she had gotten it I wouldn’t have been able to tell.

Next month I went in and dropped the $5000 to have both eyes done. A few weeks later had the surgery and was back to work in a couple days. I now have between 20/10 and 20/15 vision. I lost a tiny bit of up close vision (might be a bit harder to thread a needle) but the difference and freedom are amazing.

I liken it to the first time you wear glasses or contacts (tried for 2 weeks in high school). By far the best $5000 I have ever spent. Plus it is nice to be able to see my wife in (*ahem*) discreet circumstances without scratching her with glasses. haha.

Do it BRK, working in the aerospace industry I’m sure you have the green. You will not regret it.

Oh, these are the guys I went too. Look for someone in your area that uses the same technology.

lasik is your friend! I wore +8 contacts and now see 20/15 for the past 2 years… best 4k you will ever spend…

Sorry to hear about the book deal falling through. I guess we’ll all just have to wait a little bit longer to read your book while you shop for a new publisher.

Eager for the jumpshot movie. It’s a hunter skill that still eludes and baffles me…

    l2wearcontacts noob!

Hopefully once this sinus crud is finished I can work myself back into contacts. BUT I would love to get lasik done.

Sadly not sure if i qualify or can afford.

I’m not sure about in America, but in Canada you can claim part of it on your tax returns. ;) My husband had both his eyes done because it was sort of awkward trying to defuse bombs when your glasses got all fogged up in your face mask. :P

Really need to retag some of your USAF stories under “Airman Howell” so it’s easier for me to read them!

    Thanks!

BRK… Master of special moves in WoW PvP, artistic reveler of proper DPS rotations… But can’t find the proper rotation for two contacts.

Seriously, that is some hard irony there. :P

I REALLY want that jumpshot movie, it is a skill I have never learned. Seriously. Me wants it.

Keep writing! Your talent is evident. Someday it will merge with fate and effort and do some flying…

If you pay a visit to Denmark and have surficiently poor eyesight it’s a free operation - all you need to do is ask for it :)

There might be some minor issues with citizenship and whatnot, but it’s $5000 you’re saving AND getting to see the country with the grey’est of grey winters!

Well I too have contacts, but these are the 30-day type. I can leave them in for 30-days straight (even at night) before I need to take them out. The only reason for taking them out is the possibility of build-up of bad stuff. Look into it. Saves a lot of time.

So what youre saying is that you have an opening for a paladin?

  15. Gaijin/Lightshield on February 14th, 2008 8:34 am

Ooops, sorry, replied to the wrong post.

I’m really lucky right now, my contacts are exactly the same for each eye– same size, same prescription– so I can get ‘em backwards and not notice.

We’ll see how long that lasts though, considering the fact that my eyes seem to be getting worse by the year >.>

BRK, a former blogger I used to read went and self-published his book at http://www.lulu.com. If you’re looking to be the next Tom Clancy or Stephen King, I wouldn’t recommend it. But if you’re looking at a place to start and an outfit that is pretty easy to use, you may want to check it out.

I can’t think of many Paladins who WOULDN’T jump at the chance to get out of healbot mode.

I love healing, it’s why I made my pally.

But that don’t mean I don’t wanna get in the face of a mob and take other people’s healin’ every once in awhile.

    The book deal fell through?

    NOOOooooooo!

This cannot stand. To the ramparts, find another publisher! For the BRK!

  20. Ysaurion on February 14th, 2008 2:10 pm

Stinks to lose a prot paladin (speaking as one) when so much of t5 and t6 is made easier by having one… glad that you guys could find someone to fill the spot!

And just a sidenote, my hunter Yssa ran into your AC premade the other week in WSG. Thanks for pwning my resilience gear in the face. Your steady shots *hurt*!

    Love,

    Ysaurion, BE prot paladin

    1) Arghh…NEED BRK BOOK! Hulk smash!

    2) You know you just broke the hearts of Prot Pallies everywhere, right? But, rewarding loyalty and promoting from within is certainly a sound practice.

My Dad has recommended looking up http://anotherealm.com/prededitors/ for information about book publishers.
