    Be Imbalanced. Overpowered. 1337.

  2. Shutter on February 20th, 2008 6:38 pm

Lol. I gotta say that thing is horrendously unhelpful. It’s only comments about me are a) I haven’t enchanted the boots I logged in (True: my Softstep Boots of Tracking need loving), and b) that I’m not hit capped (True: but I’m enhance so I have no intention of fixing this).

Dunno, feels like you could read this stuff of your character sheet (if you didn’t know it from memory to begin).

  3. Kirk on February 20th, 2008 6:56 pm

Gotta agree with Shutter. I’m a heal-priest, and I’m sorely lacking because I have lousy hit ratings and such. Oh, and I should “only” look at ZA and mid-range 25-man content.

    Sheesh.

  4. SuraBear on February 20th, 2008 7:11 pm

I’m going to have to side with the “not very helpful” crowd, at least given the report I was given. Apparently, I dont have enough +defense gear in my cat DPS set (Go fig), and I really need to have 3/3 Primal Tenacity (I had it before, but the chance of it preventing stuns/fears is so low I have to approach all fights as though every one will hit anyhow).

An interesting concept, but the implementation needs some work.

  5. Anj and GirlsVsWorld on February 20th, 2008 7:21 pm

Surely the point of the auditor is to advise people on how better to become “imba”, or “imbalanced” as it were. So, regardless of how well it does this, if it achieves its goal and everyone *does* become imba won’t that make everyone balanced again until “to be imba” shifts up a notch?

Damn thing’s a paradox machine! It’s a bit like saying “Everyone is special”.

Still, at least it recommends that I should squint at Karazhan from a distance of about 2000ft with my head tilted to one side. On a hill. In the rain. Crying. With Dave Lee Travis.

  6. symentol on February 20th, 2008 7:42 pm

LOL.. it seems a bit useless to me as well, but its fun. I posted a thread in our guild hunter forums telling our GM that he NEEDS IMPROVEMENTand linking back to his page. Hes going to gboot me im sure. :)

I can also see a new guild name coming from this as well..

  7. Korvenuz on February 20th, 2008 7:59 pm

it worries too much about Ilevels and whether your stuff are PvE oriented or not, rather than the stats themselves. I can put on my inferior kara gear (drop 3.5% crit and 70ap) and get a better score than if I slap on my merciless/vengeful gear that is clearly superior.

    Pfffft… humbug

  8. Papaoomowmow on February 20th, 2008 8:02 pm

Well my hit rating not too many months ago was a disaster. So I skipped the normal enchant for my boots and picked up surefooted for the +10 hit. So they criticize my inappropriate enchant….fair enough…but then say my biggest weakness is my hit rating….ok…I’m confused but OK.

  9. Vixenytli & Chuck on February 20th, 2008 8:09 pm

WOW! That’s really a good tool. I’ve been trying to tell Vixen for ages that she needs better gear but she keeps telling me she needs a “group” and hates “pugging” or some such blather.

It does say that she is hit-capped though, which contradicts your information here. It says she only needs 9% and she’s currently at 13.15%. Why the difference from what you say? What information are you/they going off of? We could understand a variable of a few percent but almost 5% difference is more than we’re comfortable with. Is an explanation possible?

  10. Xanthelei on February 20th, 2008 8:57 pm

    @Chuck (I’m assuming!)

I believe it’s 9% to be hitcapped against a level 73 mob. Only reason I can really say this with any certainty is I know the hit rating cap is 142 without Surefooted/Heroic Presence (Draenei racial buff), and I play a Draenei with 122 hit and am near capped. Crit, however, should be in the mid 20s% before dropping Bestial Discipline; maybe that’s where you saw the number?

And I agree - it’s usefulness is minor. It’s mocking my quest blues (just started Kara this week for crying out loud, you stupid website!) and the two blues I’m most likely to replace that I’ve had for a long while and only bothered to put green gems into. Why socket blues when they’re going bye-bye soon??

The only useful part from it is that it told me I was using a lesser Agility enchant on my gloves. But considering how annoying it is to farm Primal Air and that I’m now running Kara, I think it’ll sit at the +7 Agi enchant. I will smack the +15 on purps, and live with my blues as they are.

Unique and cool idea, but it needs quite a bit of polish. Maybe another setting where you can point out what you’re aiming for (PVP/PVE/grinding) and where you are in content (Kara/ZA/BT/etc) would make it more useful.

  11. Armizam on February 20th, 2008 10:10 pm

Apparently fully epiced in T4 quality gear gets a score of about 140… It says quite a bit about my gear like low level items (3), low level gems (6), unenchanted items (3), misenchanted items (1). Which is true cause some lowbie wanted to give me +1 stam to boots =P and my hit rating is kinda bad now that I got glads shoulders and gave up the leather ones from BM.

My score however is 146.8 and it says I should skip Kara even though I only have 2 Kara items, the bow and necklace from Attu.

  12. Corwin on February 21st, 2008 4:19 am

that score thing is misleading, it looks as it uses only gear item levels to calculate it, doesn’t consider stat totals, though it does comment on them and the enchants, go figure… definetly neads tweaking

  13. Yashima on February 21st, 2008 6:16 am

Well for me it was helpful … as I only now noticed a glitch with my current talent spec. I cannot believe this happened to me. For the rest, I think it gives rough estimates which is ok. Though I hope that people who do not know what type of content they are geared for … are rare.

  14. aerislan on February 21st, 2008 7:13 am

About the only thing useful I got out of it was the fact that I didn’t realize my boots weren’t enchanted until it pointed it out to me…other than that, not so much

  15. darkopancev on February 21st, 2008 7:38 am

hmmm , i think some of you guys are taking this too personally. No tool is ever gonna be a definitive guide as to some extent gear\ench\gems are situational on your play style and content.

What it is, is another tool to help make suggestions where you ‘could’ make changes. Bear in mind it’s a new tool and still under develpoment by the look of it.

I bet if you ran your guild through it you’ll find people with innapropriate gems\enchs etc

I agree about the score thing though, pretty meaningless.

  16. Kemonojin on February 21st, 2008 7:50 am

It apparently doesn’t understand that druids don’t need 490 defense, and that I actually have TOO MUCH right now, rather than needing another 54 points…

  18. Mohgreen on February 21st, 2008 8:45 am

I have to heartily disagree with the “not very useful” comments. I agree in part, that For well geared Serious/hardcore players it may not be terribly useful.

For the New Player or casual player? This site is a GOLD MINE. It’ll point out if you’ve got the wrong enchants, gems, gear, and it will even tell you how you should tweak your talent trees. Heck it even pointed out to a friend of mine that they’d forgotten to spend TWO talent points!

It also ties back to the Armory (which amazingly enough, not everyone that plays has heard of) so you can look up what Would be a good upgrade.

I had a great time going through this site, and bumped up my RAP by 100 points using this site to tweak my character.

  19. Corwin on February 21st, 2008 8:52 am

checked it again in my current cat gear (was in bear before it) http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aerie+Peak&n=C%C3%B5rwin - says that I should run Kara :D
I know I could use some drops from there for cat (I passed on DPS stuff in there in favor of rogues/hunters/shamans), but come on, those stats are ZA, entry 25man-ish :)

as I said, I think the problem with their current evaluation algorithm is that they start from gear items, then talents, and then give conclusion, where in my opinion they should start from your [talents + base stats + spell/ranged/melee stats], compare them to some basic models to get the idea what are you aiming for, and when they know the purpose of your current build, go and check your gear/gems/enchants/talents against ‘ultimate’ build, compare spell/ranged/melee stats against recommended minimums and only then generate suggestions and point out build errors

  20. Corwin on February 21st, 2008 9:07 am

and there’s a glitch with armory, it shows 3379AP for my cat, but in game it’s only 2956

  21. Azrelix on February 21st, 2008 10:10 am

Its nice to have something to compare the level of peoples PVE gear if only in a meaningless way, we have warcrafter.net for PVP and it can offer some useful comments to those looking to improve there gear to enter kara and the likes.

  22. Taconite on February 21st, 2008 10:20 am

While it may not be accurate all of the time, I liked the tool because it pointed out some enchants that may be better for my boots. I don’t think I would ever use it to /gkick a toon, because there are lots of very good reasons for certain selections of gear, enchants, gems and talents, it will still be a part of my tool box for evaluating my gear and trying to improve.

  23. Buckwild on February 21st, 2008 11:03 am

Only thing useful about it is telling you if you have the wrong enchants on for PvE.

  24. The Dude on February 21st, 2008 11:54 am

You guys seriously need to relax.

  25. Xanthelei on February 21st, 2008 1:12 pm

    I think when darko said:

“What it is, is another tool to help make suggestions where you ‘could’ make changes. Bear in mind it’s a new tool and still under develpoment by the look of it.”

he had it right. However, if the people who run the site find this post here, and we don’t point out how it doesn’t help those of us who are into the theorycrafting stuff, and going to the armory/WowWiki/WowHead/whatever, then we aren’t helping them. I see a lot of constructive critisism up there, such as “it’s heavy on this value, this would make it better, that could use some tweaking” etc, and that’s a GOOD thing!

I agree with the thought that, as it stands now, it’s best used by someone new to the game (or maybe new to their class) who could use some pointers on gear/gems/enchants and so on. I also agree that I hope those who don’t know what they’re gearing for are few and far between… and thus hope it’ll be tweaked so you can tell it what you hope you’re geared for. :P

  26. Kestrel on February 21st, 2008 1:44 pm

I put my Kara-geared priest thru Be Imba, and blushed furiously to discover my Primal Mooncloth Robe had NO ENCHANT! Now, you don’t have to own up to faux pas like that, but at least you get the opportunity to fix it.

By clicking the link have you found the “I WIN!” button? Nope. But…it might help. ;)

  27. Bradshaw on February 21st, 2008 2:28 pm

Most annoying part of the whole thing was waiting 20 minutes in the queue.

  28. Abe on February 21st, 2008 4:12 pm

I like the way it keeps counting down in the queue, and when I get close to the top, it resets me back to the mid 200s.

Sounds like its not all that useful anyway.

If you want something nice, try out http://www.maxdps.com

  29. Azrelix on February 21st, 2008 6:41 pm

Sounds like its experiencing more traffic than its use to with its mention on BRK. When i did it this morning had instant responses :)

  30. Dalus on February 22nd, 2008 2:30 am

Yeah, this blows for rogues. When I compared my toon (best geared rogue stat-wise in my guild) to someone who was in a mix of kara and ZA epics, they were ’supposedly’ ready for MH/BT compared to my toon who was SSC/TK. Even though the gear they had on was def. sub-par for rogues, it had a higher total item level then mine. :P

  31. Grindurbonze on February 22nd, 2008 3:20 am

    Its cool.

  32. Praxidika on February 22nd, 2008 12:25 pm

True, many of the features are under development (not 100% accurate), but I think it is getting better and more accurate, thanks to the numerous feedbacks from the users. If you check the changelog in the forums you can see that it is far from being abandoned and it is tuned constantly.

For the power-player it may not be the uber-tool, since you are probably already aware of your issues (or the issues the site marks as flaws may be intentional) but for a less experienced player (or for a guild officer checking less experienced members) it is able to reveal many potential problems.

Thanks for trying out Be Imba!

  33. Cheetara on February 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm

    Be Imba is too cute!

  34. Aug on February 22nd, 2008 3:09 pm

Thank you for the nice link, BRK. *scratch behind the ears*

I will definitely bookmark it and use it periodically to get a nice benchmark of my characters’ gear progress, and some nice consolidated, thoughtful suggestions for improvements.

  35. daniel on February 23rd, 2008 8:07 am

aww my little priest is “in top shape” and suggested for “End game content”, i’m so happy :D

  36. Marque Pierre Sondergaard on February 23rd, 2008 10:43 am

Kinda stating the obvious. Nothing the discerning player wouldn’t already know. My PvE gear rating was better than BRK’s which made me smile. He is still my hero though!

  37. mosmiky on April 25th, 2008 9:02 am

what i really use it for is looking up a char before inviting it for a heroic or raid..

the site does need some tweaking but it really shows everything you need to know about o char except whether or not he’s an asshole

  38. Xxshinobi on May 19th, 2008 10:40 am

Okay What I really want to know if why T6 doesnt have allot of hit raiting but armor reduction. All this talk in my guild saying i need to get to my hit cap so i can hit more often.Umm T6 stacks AP and armor reduction for some reason this doesnt make any sense to me at all.I know the general basics to playing a rogue use 2 set bonus of your T4 for that extra “3″ seconds of fun faster hits.I dont really have a point to why I am righting this.I just want to know why T6 doesnt have as much hit raiting as karazhan gear and Badge gear but they still seem to be pulling a shit load of damage out of their asses

  39. Makura on June 2nd, 2008 10:54 am

    I beat you =) I got a 236.03 and I don`t do anything more than ZA.

    http://be.imba.hu/?zone=US&realm=Caelestrasz&character=Makura

Ditch the Tuskbreaker and the Skywing trinket imo.

  40. Elfangor on July 24th, 2008 3:50 am

Be-Imba’s not too bad; I’ll have to disagree with these complaining comments. No auditor will be perfect, and I haven’t seen a better one around.

My only flaw is that it seems a little too…complimentary, kinda. For example, it says I should be at late SSC/TK, getting close to BT/MH…although my gear’s only from Kara/Badges/Heroics etc.

Other than that, though, great site.
