/stopcasting Emo-BRK
How many times have you gone to bed mad because of this silly game? It has happened to us on a few occasions. The first time? Lower Blackrock Spire.
For you people who remember Shadow Hunter Vosh’gajin, we were in a 10-person PUG raid, clearing the trash in the room before her’s, and some trash-mob dropped a BoE blue that we really wanted. However, it was a blue and we passed, per the established loot-rules.
But we were the only one who passed, everybody else Needed.
“WTF?” we asked.
“BoE, we always roll Need.”
“But it’s a Blue, you said Pass on all Blues.”
“Sorry, but we always Need on BoEs.”
Now we were pissed. Furious. Enraged! These people totally F’d us in the A and we were apoplectic! So when we got to that mini-boss’s room, we deliberately wiped the raid. Yes, BRK was a total and complete dirtbag, told the raid just what we thought of them, and then hearthed.
This, friends, is NOT how one handles loot-issues. Do Not Attempt.
Regardless, we logged and stomped around the house for hours. We didn’t sleep well. Those b@stards stole our loot! *$&%*!! We trembled in grandiose fury. The next day, our GM, the Diet Coke of Evil, told us what an @ss we’d been and to knock that cr@p off, and pronto.
Fast-forward two years or so and we’re listening to our guild take down boss after boss in SSC, the Hunter-loot being passed out like Halloween candy. We were jealous and angry and frustrated.
We did not, however, take our emotions out on our guildies, and we especially did not take our frustration out on the other hunters who cleaned up. It’s not their fault we had to work late and miss the start of the raid. They worked hard, they have supported the guild, they have gone loot-less like us, too.
That doesn’t mean we aren’t crushed that someone has three pieces of hunter tier 5 and we don’t, but they don’t deserve anything from us but a congratulations. So we did; we tried to be gentlemanly.
And then we tried to go to sleep. Epic Fail, we were seething.
Crank open the iBook, write something inappropriate, delete it, rewrite, delete again, rewrite, edit, rewrite, edit, and finally publish something that allows us to vent our feelings, hopefully without pissing anybody off in the process.
Satisfied and our rage expressed, we finally slept.
This evening, we are lying on the bed, the door open, the pool burbling in the soft, Spring air. Our son made his own dinner - cheese sandwich and grapes - and is playing on the floor with his Easter basket. We have a MrT run scheduled after he goes to bed.
We promise not to wipe the party tonight. Things are pretty good, even if we don’t have full Tier 5.

Wow…reminds me of when TBC came out. Crappy PUGs, and 2 of us were friends. I was the lock, he was the priest. The rogue in the group decided to need on a cloth healing item that he obviously didn’t need. (Guess he had a healer alt.) Anyway, my buddy decided it was best to let him die with NO rez.
Word to the wise…don’t upset those which can make/break the run.

My wife and I had almost the opposite happen, which got her and I to stop playing WoW for over a month, and almost got our friend to send us all his stuff and quit.
We were running Hellfire Ramps with our friend and a couple of his guildies, and it was already sort of annoying… we had to wait 45 minutes for them to get over where we were, because they decided to do a “quick” run of Underbog before the time we were supposed to play… they failed at that. And then one of the ‘locks was being played by his younger brother, who is, frankly, a prat.
So, we get to the end, and some nice plate drops. I’m running my paladin, my friend is a hunter, everybody else is a warlock. It’s a BoP blue, and nobody else needs it, so I hit Need. Not a problem. My wife hits Greed, because of two things: 1) It doesn’t matter at this point, and 2) There’s a built-in rolling system, and we tend to run with “Roll on it with Greed or Need as appropriate… seriously, passing and picking up especially in a PuG or almost? That’s a quick way to have somebody ninja it”. Darrin’s guildies ASPLODE with bitching at her for clicking Greed.
It was dumb, it made no sense, but my wife is sensitive, and it was totally a jerk move on his part. Especially since there was no discussion of loot-rules beforehand. None. Nada. Zip.
I still can’t believe I rolled a 2 on princes dagger, only for our already uber mage to get it. Did it drop the next time…. of course not. Grats to him… grrr only needed it for full epic set
Writing is definitely one of the ways I vent my frustrations. I don’t always publish the stuff I write when I’m frustrated– but I write regardless! =P
Not too long ago our guild went to Kara without me because I had to be at work late (this sounds like no big deal, “it’s just Kara”, but you gotta understand that I didn’t start playing until about a year ago and most of my guild is like me– so it IS a big deal to us.) I went home and heard all the details about the epic fights and all the new bosses they’d gone to without me, and I went to bed one sad, sad hunter. Then what made it worse was that I thought “Wow, I can’t believe I’m getting this bothered over a video game” and I sort of started to think I was crazy or somethin’.
Then the next morning I woke up and thought about it and realized that I wasn’t really sad that I hadn’t got to go to some raid… I was sad because I’d missed what had sounded like a lot of fun hanging-out-times with my guildies who are also my very good friends. And then I realized exactly how much I love my guildies, and I felt a lot better. (Plus, I got to go to Kara that night, so it all worked out.)
The moral of the story (er… novel, sorry) is: it’s okay to be frustrated about the game sometimes, so long as you don’t let it take ya over! =P You’re not the only one who feels like that sometimes. /nod

The ‘need’ button needs to be removed, or better to have it’s function fixed so instead of being a ninja button, it stops all the rolling and people talk about who gets it.
You know sometimes you really just have to look at WoW as it being less important than some obviously think it is
Spending a day pissed off cause of it? Deleting and quitting WoW cause someone yells at you? Definately overreacting 
Misdirect the priest… you KNOW you want to.

Two things. First, I finally killed Kael in MgT (or MrT as you call it) and got the hunter chest. But secondly and most importantly:
When he dies you CAN NOT be a ghost!!
If you are, you will not get credit for the kill, cannot loot his head, and will not be able to roll on the gear. Thankfully I was the only hunter and it was a mostly guild run, so they passed and let me pick it up. But if you’re finishing the quest, remember to NOT release under 3-5% HP! Only do so if all DPS is releasing or only two people are alive so they will stop DPS.
I have a ticket open about this now, hoping they’ll give me the head so I can finish the quest. That mofo is very much OP and needs a nerf.
got the axe & the chest in the same run. my mana took a kick in the bean bag, but with 2 other items that add ‘ignore armour’ points, I eat cloth & leather mobs. I tote my SS & old chest pice around for bosses & situations where I need the mana & the full +hit points
You’ve always had to be there, dead or alive, to get credit and be able to loot, every thing in an instance is that way, so far as I know. And welcome back BRK!

In most instances, releasing during an encounter is not a great idea, because if you are not either fully alive or fully dead, you will most likely not get to roll on loot.
Found this out the hard way a couple of months ago when I ran back to Shadow Labs only to discover that I couldn’t roll on some bracers that I needed… the above is the answer I got from a GM.
Life ain’t fair buddy. I won a roll on the bracers that drop in Kara against a hunter guildie, so when the next epix dropped that was suitable for us, I passed because that the sort of nice chap I am. Aparently this put me to the top of the ‘respect list’ in our guild… grand!
That was 3 months ago, and the %^@£” has Needed on every hunter drop since.
And they say kindness goes a long way… pah!

Speaking objectively on this…
If you are actually reaching that level of anger and losing sleep over things going on in a GAME..that should be a tell-tale sign that maybe you are just a little too involved in said game and need to unplug for a while..
I’m not saying that people aren’t going to get frustrated in WoW. Of course they are. But you’re an adult and therefore should have and show maybe a little more restraint and self-control in the face of adversity. To let your frustration reach the kind of level where it affects you physically in the ways you described…that’s not good man..

Can’t say I’ve ever gone to bed mad about something that happened in the game, but I CAN say that I’ve totally gone back to LBRS and solo’d that hose-beast in hopes of getting the rogue gloves she drops
Oh and there has definitely been times that I’ve gone to bed extremely happy because of something in-game, I sleep well when that occurs.

If it was a BOE, why couldn’t you just do a /roll and compare your result to the Need roll scores? And if your /roll beat the winning Need Roll that person just hands over the item. Nobody suggested that? Aah, this was a PUG, not a Guild Run.
I was Tanking The Underbog a while ago when Gha’zan dropped his Talisman of Tenacity. That piece has a lot of Stamina, but Resilience? WTF is Resilience? (I wasn’t familiar with the new PvP changes at that time).
“Tank necklace?” I said.
“It’s for Healers,” said our Priest, rolling Greed. Everyone else passed.
I looked at it again. Loads of Stamina, but Resilience? I know that word but what context does it have in WoW. Maybe it helps the Priest when he overheals and pulls Aggro. More Stamina for more Health, and Resilience so he can take a hit or two while the Tank grabs Aggro back. Why did the Priest roll Greed though? Did he click the wrong button by mistake. Yes, all those thoughts flew through my mind at the speed of, well, though (which is pretty GD fast).
“Fair enough,” I said, and I hit Pass.
Naturally Party Chat exploded with WTF? Why did you pass?
I explained my reasoning and the Priest claimed he was joking, “that’s why I hit Greed!”
“I was wondering about that,” I replied.
One wise fellow summed it all up with “And that’s why we always Pass on BOPs.”

Just wanted to throw down my ‘OMGWTF’ moment, because the rant does help.
I went on a run to The Crypts with a PUG. Mistake #1: expecting a PUG to be fair… but such is life. In this run, [url=http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27416] Fetish Of The Fallen[/url] decides to drop. We’re doing it in the Master Loot system, and manually rolling for those who are in it for need. Our party: Me (MM Hunter), Druid (who is our tank), Holy Priest, and Mage.
I roll, naturally. Get a 4. Well damn. The druid, who also wants it (fair enough) rolls. Gets a 3. I’m on the ceiling with glee. Then, suddenly, Mage rolls. ‘WTF?’ thinks I. Mage gets, naturally, higher than either of us. Now? I’m ticked.
Mage: “I don’t really want it. Just give it to ”
This was one. Livid. Hunter.
You should be mad. You got ninja’d. If the mage passes on the item, it should go to the next highest role.
Wolfslayer will have to do, for now.
We almost had a similar situation last night in Kara. Our guild is no longer using dkp for kara so we roll on items that we want or call dibbs on an item and agree before we start. I didn’t get to roll on Sunfury Bow of the pheonix last week because someone had dibbs. I’m ok with it, as it was his 42nd time killing Prince and the bow hadn’t dropped yet. I felt his pain
A caster item drops off Moroes (can’t remember what it was and no one had dibbs). 2 mages and a lock roll. The guy that wins the roll decides that the lock (lowest roll) would benefit more from the item. It would have been a debatable upgrade for the winning mage. He says, “Give it to ___”. Luckily, most of the group realized that it was the wrong thing to do and spoke up. In this case, he wasn’t trying to be a jerk, but didn’t realize his mistake. The mage with the 2nd highest role got the item. I’m glad it didn’t happen to us. There were no hard feelings.
